Castanea Old Town Hostel

Really liked this hostel! The staff were very friendly, and the hostel itself was clean and cozy. I stayed in the 4 bedroom female dorm. The lockers were a good size and bed was comfortable. Really cute atmosphere with a small common room and lots of games and a book exchange. Would definitely recommend.

I like this place fine location in oldtown. I booked 5 nights with booking.com in a 12 bed dorm then 2 more in a private room for Xmas 2025 Prices dropped. So maybe wait to book if you are traveling off season.

Perfectly located for Gamla Stan and access to other parts of the city. So easy to walk! If using Uber, there are a couple of drop off points in Gamla Stan, so you have to walk to or from one of those. One dropoff is by the castle and very close to Castanea.||We were on the bottom floor. The outside door has a code, and then there is another locked door with a code to enter where the rooms are. Our room was very comfortable, and we enjoyed being able to have the window open. Quiet prevailed the entire time we were there. The room, the bathroom, and the shower room were all very clean.||The hostel staff helped us get the room we needed by contacting them directly, and because we had troubles, the towel fee was dropped! They were also willing to help with an encounter we had. I appreciated how kind and helpful they were.||The restaurant next door no longer gives hostel guests a discount for breakfast, and they have a very limited menu for breakfast. Panem is just a few blocks away and has many options though.||I highly recommend this hostel and its staff.

Perfect location in the middle of Galma Stan and public transportation. Professional friendly staff and everything was prepared for my late arrival; location directions, access codes, amenities, and everything was spotless. Recommended!

The hostel is located in the middle of the old part of the city, which has many nice buildings and streets. It's within walking distance of the central station and shopping centre (+-20 minutes). The personnel is very kind and considerate. The rooms, toilets, showers and kitchen are clean. Overall, it's a well organized hostel.

Location! Location! Location! No other can beat this. It’s an old building (in old town ) but everything is neat and clean. Really enjoyed the staying, plus reception staff was helpful and nice.

Very old style beautiful building in old town, helpfull staff, a good information board, alot of showers and toilet. Kitchen is well kept with clear rules. Mattresses could be softer tho. Overall a very pleasant stay, thank you!

It's been several years since I stayed in a hostel, and on a last-minute holiday to Stockholm, I booked myself into Castanea Hostel in the Old Town part of the city, staying in a 4 bed dorm. It turned out to be a really good hostel - aside that it's really easy to walk past it (it's not well signposted) and the check in/out office is only open at limited hours, they are very helpful and do what they can to make your stay a good one. The kitchen, toilets and showers were clean (seemed like they were cleaned several times a day!), and the common area was very comfortable. It felt very homely for a hostel, and I met plenty of new people to hang out with whilst I was in town. The bunk beds - Ikea, obviously - were comfortable as you can expect in a hostel, and renting of bedsheets and towel were a reasonable enough price. I didn't have any problems with anyone messing with my property (didn't even need to use the lockers) and overall had a really good stay. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a hostel in Stockholm.

Great location! This is the first hostel I've ever stayed at so maybe I'm being overly kind with the review but I really enjoyed my stay. I had no trouble meeting people in the common area. Linens cost extra and the flight of stairs can make it annoying to carry large luggage up the stairs though. It can also be a little hard to find but other than that, no complaints.
