Castanheiro Boutique Hotel

Beautiful hotel in great location.||Located in the very centre of Funchal, in the heart of the historic centre, a fabulous boutique hotel blending design, detailed architectural restoration and a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel is only 5 minutes away from the main shops, museums, restaurants and bars. Our room was stylish and smartly appointed with a small balcony overlooking the front street. We made best use of the excellent hotel facilities such as the rooftop swimming pool where you can enjoy panoramic views overlooking the Bay of Funchal. Availability of sun beds was generally good but inevitably there were some who would reserve beds. | |All of the staff are very friendly and keen to provide good service. The restaurant is high quality. We loved the breakfasts - great variety of items, buffet style, the lunch and dinner menu was excellent - highly recommended. ||Inclusive access to the Spa was a real treat a great place to relax and unwind - we visited most days. ||In summary a delightful hotel where you can always find the perfect spot to relax. Nothing was too much trouble.||Looking forward to returning. ||Tip - Book a guided tour or two and explore this beautiful island. ||- Visit Monte Gardens early morning and avoid the crowds.

Visited for the third time in oct 25. I cant recommend this hotel highly enough. We requested room 312 which is a large room, front facing and has a kitchenette. Very kindly we were accommodated. Fantastic views from the outdoor rooftop pool, which also has a hot tub and bar with lunch and snacks. The whole vibe is peaceful as its not a massive hotel like a lot in Funchal. The breakfast is amazing and as vegans we were catered for with no problems. The same staff are still there after 3 years which is a good sign to me. It also has a spa which I will review separately but is honestly amazing. Indoor heated pool with sauna and steam room. Complimentary pool towels, slippers, toiletries and the room was cleaned everyday. The location is by the Jesuits college, just off Praca De Municipal which is central to walk the city. Can't rate this place highly enough.

The Castanheiro Boutique Hotel is a gem with an expectational location in Old Funchel. We were right in the middle of downtown where we could step right out our door and immediately be within walking distance to everything. Love it! It was so quiet too! The representatives at the hotel like Claudio and David are exceptional... They're professional, yet exude warmth and care. Love them! The food was fantastic and they have a full restaurant which was ideal. Breakfast was awesome... But our dinner was off-the-hook... delish! We had a drink in the bar one night and they were playing some music and we loved it! We also went to the spa on our last day and me and my wife decided that our messages that we had were the best we've EVER had!!! BRAVO!!! This hotel will always be our recommendation!!!

I had a lovely stay at this fabulous hotel. It ticks all the boxes, very well located, amazing & welcoming Reception staff with in-depth knowledge of the island. |Attractive, stylish room and hotel - immaculate throughout, my room was very quiet.|Breakfast was fabulous, a great selection plus you can order freshly prepared egg dishes or pancakes.|I could not fault this place, I will return - it is a gem....

Perfect location, perfect facilities, perfect people caring for you This hotel is very easily accessible, in the city center (literally) and have a car park 20 metres from the entrance. Starting from our check-in, all staff were nice, helpful and caring for us. They always went the extra mile when we asked any questions or simply help. Their both indoor spa and outdoor pool at the roof cannot be missed. Our room (103) was spacious and had a large balcony. Breakfast was also full of exotic fruits. When I left my mobile charger, wrote them, they immediately located it and sent to my postal address. If they have an availability, go stay there. Not to miss. Date of stay: January 2025 Room Tip: Do not miss both indoor spa and the outdoor roof pool. Our room was very nice, ask for x03 when...

What a lovely time at this hotel.There was a slight mix up regarding our room when we first checked in (we had a deluxe room with courtyard view and initially was given a standard room with street view), however front desk was so quick to rectify the issue and upgraded us to a junior suite. The staff were so kind and hospitable. The bar, snack-bar, breakfast and dinner all 10/10. I am dreaming of staying at this luxurious hotel again, 6 nights was not enough! Thank you for making my stay in Funchal so memorable.

I have just returned from a two week stay at this lovely hotel . From the correspondence prior to arrival organising flowers, champagne and chocolates all I can say is this hotel is fantastic. |All the staff from cleaners to management were first class and couldn’t do enough for ourselves. |We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis but also ate some evening meals in the restaurant . The food was of an excellent standard . Breakfast was hot and cold buffet with the options to order other dishes direct from the kitchen . Overall the food was excellent . |We stayed in a deluxe double with balcony and the room was large . And the bathroom was excellent . We had an issue with a hard mattress and they added a memory foam topper without any quibble at all . |Happy hour at the bar between 6-7pm was an added bonus.|The pool area was lovely and the pool bar staff were always happy to serve you around the pool . ||Having stayed in Funchal a dozen times previously we can honestly stay this was our best holiday in funchal . It was so good whilst we were staying we rebooked for September 2026. ||Overall I have no hesitation to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Funchal

Fantastic hotel, reception staff lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was amazing, amenities perfect, great location near the square, would definitely recommend. Felt like the staff couldn't do enough for you 😁
