Castaway Cafe

Probably the most consistent restaurant of them all. They are not on the beach front like other restaurants, but the food the great, the service was great, and there was shade. It is difficult to find if you are not familiar with the are or staying in a hotel right next to it. I feel it is a smaller restaurant so seating may be difficult during busy hours. But it was definitely worth the find for the food. We got the shrimp appetizer and they were fantastic. Then we had the fish tacos... Pretty much a staple menu item for all restaurants in that area 😂. As you can see from my pictures you are in view of the ocean, just not on the beach. Great job all around and when we come back this will be a place we come back to.

Nestled in the well kept, Aston Maui Ka'anapali Villas, with beautiful views of the ocean and islands. Our server Concetta was charming, funny, conversational and attentive, loved her. My husband ordered the short rib Benedict, with potatoes. Mild creamy hollandaise sauce, with savory delicious short ribs, that tasted like they were slow cooked for hours, with great care I had a virgin bloody Mary, that was way better and more tasty, than regular tomato juice. I ordered the crab cakes Benedict, w/potatoes. My hollandaise sauce was perfect and creamy. A top soft English muffins, was twin delicious crab cakes. You could tell the crab was super fresh, as they did not smell or taste fishy, like frozen crab cakes that we have on the mainland. Each plate was adorned with a beautiful edible flower. I did eat the flower and it tasted good. All the staff was super friendly, many greeted us upon arrival, and thanked us for coming, wishing us a great day upon leaving. I highly recommend you put this on your vacation to do list. 5 out of 5 stars

Super cool breakfast and lunch atmosphere right on the beach! Our server was wonderful and had a great sense of humor. Breakfast was delicious. Had the juevos rancheros and hubby had the steak with gravy and both were 👌 kid friendly too, with delicious juices, pancakes and more. Full bar and more. Definitely recommend

Visited here in May 2025. Good atmosphere right along the beach. If coming from the beach wall just follow the signs around. It is actually next to a smaller hotel pool. Entrance is not facing the beach but rather on the opposite side of the building. Friendly bar area. The Lava Flows were delicious! The Coconut Shrimp was ok. Not pictured are the Short Rib Nachos which were also good. But the Cheeseburger and fries were THE BEST! The burger has lots of flavor and I know it isn’t so much of a traditional island food but it was really tasty!

Great hidden gem on the beach! We were able to walk from our resort and enjoy a beachfront breakfast with kind staff and quick service. Everything was delicious and filling.

We had a great experience here. We had an amazing view of the ocean at sunset and amazing food to enjoy with our view. I got the paradise burger, which was cooked perfectly, and I loved the grilled pineapple. My husband got the kalua pork, and he said it was really good and he ate every bite. We were too full to enjoy dessert there, so I took the ube cheesecake to go, and it was my favorite thing. It was absolutely delicious. Our server was great and friendly. Overall amazing experience!

We heard good things about this place, and from the start it was living up to the hype, but the host put us on a wait list even when there were empty tables on the patio. We cared more for the food, we thought the food was delicious. Highly recommend the Paradise Pancakes they were massive in portion and delicious. The service was a bit slow and it seemed the kitchen was backed up as other customers were waiting for quite some time. Overall, if you are looking for a breakfast/lunch spot this is worth it and especially due to the beach walk that you can take getting to it!

Food was very good and quick. Bartender was our server and she was super nice but it was too much to cover bar and tables. Would definitely go back.

Great location in Maui. Family loves the coconut shrimp and macadamia nut crusted mahi. Staff is always very friendly.

Castaway Cafe was definitely an awesome find! This place is a hidden gem nestled in the Ka'anapali Villas, and it totally blew us away. The Hawaiian inspired dishes were amazing. We loved that we could choose to sit indoors or out on their lovely patio. The vibe was so chill, perfect for a relaxing dinner. Plus, the staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home. Seriously, we're so glad we found this spot! If you're looking for great food and a laid-back atmosphere, Castaway Cafe is the place to go. We can't wait to come back! Don't forget to request for your parking pass at the Ka'anapali Villas lobby. There are plenty of designated parking spots where you can park which they will tell you. Once you park, it's a nice short stroll through the resort to restaurant near the pool.

We waited a while (~25min) to be seated for brunch even though there were lots of open tables, and when we sat, there were no utensils. The place didn't seem that busy so it seems service is just not the most efficient (I suppose we're on island time). The paradise pancakes were a bit disappointing- the description of the dish was much more exciting than the dish itself. The pancakes were very fluffy but plain, and almost a bit tough. But the hauipa syrup it comes with is very good. They were out of most fruits when we arrived so all I got on top were a few pieces of banana and strawberry. The avocado toast and banana bread were good. All in all it was ok.

First, you need to go into the lobby of the Maui Kaanapali Villas to get a parking pass. Then you walk towards the ocean, around a pool and find this place. It is cute, on the beach, the staff was great as was the food. We went on Taco Tuesday and loved the tacos. It was the perfect way to wrap up our trip to Maui.

The food was delicious. We started with calamari strips. Yum.! The remind me of a place in Lake Tahoe. Nice thick strips with tarter AMA cocktail sauce. Then I had the fish tacos with fresh Maui Maui. Came with chips SMS salsa. Their salsa was very good. My hubby ordered the fish and chips. That also was mahi mahi They did something with their fries that maybe has a coating of some sort. W didn't ask but they were crispy! It's takes a minute for the waiter to get to you but once he does he was attentive. We were able to joke around about with him. It's a hidden gem nestled in and around the Westin condos or timeshares. Beach front has a nice bite of the ocean. It was sweet! The view!

This is a wonderful place to dine on the beach walk. It also happens to be at the villas we are staying at. We have visited this cafe 3 times already with 2 during breakfast and once for dinner. They certainly have the breakfast down but we have mixed reactions on the dinner. The seating has always been immediately and the servers were very good at taking the order in a timely manner. The breakfast menu is good. I had a bad experience with the fish and chips for dinner. Sent it back twice and called it quits. They did offer a third choice but I was done at that point. Chef was very accommodating and they just refunded my meal. I would certainly continue to give them my business just because of the outstanding customer service.

As with many other restaurants in Maui, this one is also located in a resort. Parking was limited, but it wasn't too difficult to snag a spot. The view was beautiful outside, but we did have to request a table change because the flies were bothering us outside. The table was also slightly wobbly. However, since we requested the move after we placed our order, there were limited selections to where we could move to inside. Food portion was HUGE. An entree was definitely shareable between two. Even an order for half a pancake order was huge. The Kalua Pork Huevos Rancheros was not bad. The beans were actually pretty addicting.

Stopped here one late morning for brunch. The food was incredible, service was amazing and you couldn't beat the view. My wife had the Macadamia pancakes and I ordered the Kalua Pork Huevos Rancheros and we both had coffee. Honestly, probably the best breakfast we had while staying on Maui. If you're looking for breakfast, lunch, or something in between (brunch) you cannot go wrong coming here. However, if you come early morning expect a line. This place is very popular with the locals.

Hidden gem in Kaanapali! The food: Delicious! Highly recommend the Castaway Eggs Benedict and the Big Island Omelette. The view is five star worthy and the staff was friendly and attentive. Note: be aware they add a 4 percent surcharge to your bill prior to the tip!

Lovely outdoor dining. We got a great table with a beautiful view. Try the banana bread - fresh out of the oven and just the right size and amount of sweet. I had avocado toast and the rest of the table had eggs/potato/sausage plate, short rib and an omelette with lots of meat. Service was good.

Well priced and delicious food with a fantastic ocean view and quick service! I go at least two to three times when visiting the island.

The Mai Tai and the outdoor tables facing the beach at sunset would be a 5++++++ stars out of 5. My husband and his friend had the burger and fries and loved them. My friend and I both had the fish and chips - BAD! I never get heart burn but something in it did it to me and my friend. Servers were nice enough but not very attentive. We had their pie and it was NOTHING SPECIAL - just mainly hard chocolate ice cream with a little cookie bottom I encourage you to go for the MaiTai and maybe the burgers but stay away from their fried fish and desserts

Lied the food & servers were friendly and helpful ... really clean - no wait & great views They were willing to customize any order & that's great for smaller appetites - portions were huge!

We went here for breakfast twice while we were on Maui. We were staying at the Maui Marriott and enjoyed the morning walk to Castaways. Even though I've been to Maui many times in the past, it was my first time trying Castaways. It's one of those places that you know is there, but you don't know how good it is. The reason we tried it was somebody else staying at the Maui Marriott chatted us up in the hot tub and raved about Castaway's food. We were not disappointed! We were seated promptly, service was friendly, and the food was delicious. Which is why we went twice. The server was so nice. They even took our picture out on the lawn. Almost like a photo shoot! Highly recommend and we will be back again next time we are on Maui.

We were looking for a place to eat brunch in Lahaina and my cousin recommended Castaway Cafe as he had it the day before and really enjoyed it. Castaway Cafe is tucked away in Maui Ka'anapali Villas. When we arrived, we put our name and number down as there were no open tables. It took about 20 mins for the table to be ready for us. For the table, I ordered the banana bread. This was really good and I liked the tartness of the lilikoi butter. I also liked that the banana bread was not sweet. For myself, I ordered the braised short rib benedict. This was delicious and hit the spot. You will definitely leave with a happy tummy!

Great service, cozy atmosphere, homemade comfort food. I have been coming here for over 60 years. That's hard to believe! Castaway,'s was my dad's favorite place to eat whether it was for breakfast lunch or dinner. It has an amazing view of the ocean and all the staff knew him by name. Their dinner menu is also delish!! You must visit this wonderful Ohana restaurant if you are visiting this side of the island. Happy eating!

Came here right at 8am on a Thursday when they opened. Fills up quickly. Food came out quickly and was very fresh tasting. We ordered the paradise pancakes and the breakfast burrito. Good portion sizes. Pancakes came with 3 pancakes

Hidden gem on the Kaanapali Maui resort strip. Off the board walk tucked away on a green patch of grass just by the beach with scenic views of the ocean, this casual dinning experience serves remastered versions of Hawaiian local treats & drinks for all three meals. Its very kid friendly and has lawn games adjacent to the outdoor patio. Evenings feature local musicians and gas lit torches. A little bit on the pricey side, but par for the course for the resort area. We ended up eating here almost every day of our one week vacation; we're big fans of the owners, TS Restaurants, who also run some of our favorite San Diego eateries. Highly reccomend!

I had the cheese burger. It came stacked high, and very juicy. I asked for it to be medium rare with bacon. Everything was perfect!

Easy walk from our condo to this wonderful cafe. Fast and friendly service accompanied by a nice view.

The ambiance here was lovely and the staff were incredibly kind. The drinks were great - I had a coconut margarita and my partner got a paradise punch. The paradise punch was a bit more tart than sweet, but we enjoyed it. I got the fish and chips which was good, bur not especially amazing. The fries however were seriously some of the best fries I've had. My partner got the fish tacos which were really amazing though! All in all, good dinner spot!

Perfect place for a casual, local vibe with great service and really yummy food at reasonable prices. Taco Tuesday served up a perfectly cooked fish taco and a tender and juicy kalua pork taco. Fresh and crisp Caesar side salad. Cheeseburger was large and cooked medium as requested. The Ube cheesecake with Lilikoi drizzle was excellent! Rico is an experienced and helpful server. Mahalo!

It's our last night here in Maui and this was my favorite meal :) I wish we'd gone here more! I ordered the fish and chips, sometimes when I order fish and chips they are really greasy and make me slightly nauseous from the batter.. these were perfect! Not greasy at all! I'd compare the batter to a nicely seasoned pancake batter and the tartar sauce was lemony and delicious! I'm from Seattle and these were my favorite by far! Service was great, and it has indoor/outdoor seating. Ps. If you aren't staying in the hotels around it, it may be tricky to find, drive past the golf course into the parking area, park the closest to the walk way to the restaurant as possible as long as it isn't covered parking I believe you're ok.

Food was delicious with generous portion sized meals. So flavorful and presentation shows they care to take the time. Party of 8 no problem being seated, although it was early and not very busy. It's tucked away in resort area, but worth the find. In addition to omelet and pancakes also had Bloody Mary, ask for spicy

We were in Maui for 5 weeks and ate here several times. Everything we tried was delicious. Springrolls made in-house. Reasonable pricing. Staff and servers always friendly and helpful. Nice oceanfront location/view. A beachfront gem!Clean, tidy restaurant with nice atmosphere. Unless you're staying at a hotel nearby, we could only find 4 parking spots designated for Castaway, or it's a short walk from Kahekili Beach Park. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We needed breakfast! The food is delicious. It might look like a long line but the order taking is so efficient, it is super fast. The food came out very fast also. We had to try the cinnamon roll with our moco plate. We split and brought home a bit for a snack. Thanks for a great first morning in Maui breakfast!

This place popped up when searching for a happy hour, but unfortunately, I missed the small window when I called. I decided to try this place out while walking around the resorts in Kaanapali. I happened to stumble upon this place when it opened, which allowed us to have premium seating outside with the gorgeous view of the water. Drinks: POG mimosa. Of course you can't go wrong with this! Main: I decided in pancakes with strawberries, pineapples,and macadamia nuts with a side huapia. This was filling! I had to balance out the sweet with the savory and I ordered some Portuguese sausage to go with the meal. Nicole, our waitress, was fabulous and very attentive. I liked that it wasn't too busy in the restaurant and it had a nice view. Definitely recommend stopping by here if you want a solid breakfast with views in Kaanapali.

Breakfast basics. On first visit pancakes were huge but dry and didn't have much flavor. Crab cakes were pretty good could've been seared a bit longer as the filling was a bit underdone imo. Mai tai was awesome with nice rum topper. Service met the needs. Relaxing beautiful ocean views. Located on resort but accessible by public boardwalk along the ocean. Enjoyed my walk and went twice. 2nd visit omelette was good, too many onions for me. Fruit plate simple but satisfying. Mai tai this time around was mainly juice thin topper of rum.

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. As you can see in the photo, the view is stunning, set right on the beach. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the entire restaurant is open, so the trade winds are flowing through. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The drink, Paradise Punch, was super yummy. I had the salad, which was fresh and crisp, and my husband had the cheeseburger and at the suggestion of the waitress, he added a slice of pineapple. As it turns out, the pineapple made the burger. He was so impressed and said it was the best burger he had while in Maui. I am adding Castaway Cafe to my places to vist the next time I am in Maui.

Loved the outside seating and scenic location of the restaurant. Decently priced and yummy food was an attractive offer :) In $60, we got: - lychee martini 5/5- loved the unique combo and perfect taste - coconut shrimp 5/5 - includes 6 pcs with a yummy ginger based dipping sauce which really enhanced the flavors - fish and chips 5/5- 3 pcs of mahi mahi with good fries made this a perfect staple Clean restrooms! Defucting one star - The service was kinda lame coz if u want to sit outside on a week night then u have to do self-service at the bar (with full menu) and the seats needed cushions for outdoor seating which were missing and that made them uncomfortable for eating a meal.

Actually not bad at all. Gazebo was an hour wait so we decided to try this place out. A little confusing trying find the place. Need to get parking permits. That is a little annoying but worth it. Finally got to Cafe. No wait The food was good. I had an omelette with the works and it was big and filling. Good taste and the right combination of flavors and consistency. We had a Bloody Mary that was excellent. Their service was prompt and consistent. I would definitely go again when Gazebo is really crowded

A solid 4!! We went there for breakfast and also tried a lunch there as we were staying nearby. The breakfast potatoes were yummy and the French toasts was good too. In the morning the back patio is open and nice and breezy with views of the ocean. The staff were always super nice and kind - offering recommendations when asked. My ceasar salad was good - nothing special but hit the spot. The burger was decent too. Fries were yummy and crispy!

Decent service, decent food but we've had better. We sat at the bar with our backs hanging outside, there was no wait for seating. It was comfortable and breezy for lunch. Our bartender/server was attentive. My brother-in-law awarded the Mai Tai there as the best and the Lava Flow was delicious, too. We ordered a bunch of items including the Island Coconut Shrimp, Kula Strawberry Salad, cheeseburger, and the fish and chips. The food came out fairly quickly. It was good but nothing outstanding.

Tucked away in between resorts, Castaway Cafe is a quiet little spot with a great view of the ocean. Nice selection of food. We were there for breakfast. moco loco was good, and the eggs benedict was really good. As we ate, we watched dolphins splash in the ocean. Attentive service. Thumbs up.

This is a nice restaurant by the beach with good food and the staff is attentive and friendly. A good vibes kind of place.

Nachos great, Pon's coladas were great. Kalua pork huevos rancheros also fantastic. I are here 3 times in my 5 days stay. Only let down were the street tacos- flavor was great but they needed two tortillas per taco because they fell apart with one. Otherwise it was delish!

Great food! Sitting outside is definitely the way to go. We went twice, once for breakfast and another for lunch. Both meals were amazing! The Crab Benedict was chef's kiss.

We loved tbd nachos. Not fancy but just so yummy. View was superb. Servers were amazing and kind. The entree of pork and short rib were to die for. Dessert was on point too.

The service is so slow. The servers seem like they are on something. The food is good but overpriced. Nothing to run over here for. And there is no happy hour. What a disappointment for such a beautiful place.

Classic Maui restaurant that has been around for 30+ years. prices are very reasonable. The food was 7/10 but the service was outstanding. Make sure to get any flavor of ice cream pie for dessert.

Amazing service, food and view! We had the Castaway egg Benny and the Loco moco ..... spectacular!
