Currently staying at another hotel and very angry at myself for not just coming back to Castaway. It’s so naturally beautiful and the staff are genuinely happy and make it a magical experience. The snorkeling is incredible. The kids club was truely excellent and had my kids begging to go. The staff had them outside and active and they genuinely love kids and take so much pride in teaching them about their culture and the nature around them. It’s an extremely special island and I’m regretting my choice to not go back there this time around. A special shout out to Mickey, who was so kind and fun - went above and beyond and we still remember him a year on! Only thing that wasn’t amazing was the food. I was dreading meal time, as the food wasn’t good. Aside from this, it was a beautiful natural get away. Highly recommend!

We had the most amazing family holiday on Castaway!||The staff were amazing and so friendly and remembered our names despite being there during a busy time on the island. Our children still say “Bula Family” to each other at home (like every staff member said to us whether they were an housekeeper, gardener, maintenance, customer service) and remember Castaway with such fondness - my kids loved the people! They loved their time spent at kids club in the afternoons and evenings. The staff would remember all the children’s names. Our children still talk about Mickey, Cinderella, Elsa and Snow White at the kids club staff.||We loved our island bure and enjoyed the peaceful outlook. Housekeeping were always lovely and did a great job. No matter which island bure, it is only a short walk.||We also spent time at the Sofitel on the mainland and whilst we felt the dining quality and choices at the Sofitel exceeded that of Castaway, Castaway was still our top pick due to the friendly vibe of the island.||We loved the snorkelling, SUP, water park, kayaking, sandbar tour and the swim up bar. We saw numerous blue star fish, jellyfish, amazing fish and coral.||Yes, the “quiet” pool often had children in there, including my own 8 and 5 year old, but I always ensured my children were respectful and quiet and reminded them of the rules. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for some other families. However, it didn’t ruin my stay. I chose Castaway for a family friendly island with plenty of activities for the kids. And we were so happy with our choice. If you are a couple without children, I would suggest a more adults only resort.||We felt the food was more than adequate and enjoyed the buffet breakfast, lunch around the pool, some afternoon cocktails from Dave and a lovely dinner a la carte at either Sundowner, 1808 or the Pizza.||Feedback: the swim up bar could be staffed a little better. Dave was fantastic but I often found the bar unattended in the afternoons or I felt I was inconveniencing the staff by asking for a drink. ||Castaway will hold a special place in our heart with all the wonderful family memories we made.

What a wonderful place, the staff are incredible and the resort is fantastic. Real island vibe while still being very upmarket. Rooms are very well appointed and super comfortable. The beach is amazing and the pool areas are top notch. There is an onsite shop with plenty of drinks and snacks at mainland prices. Make sure you are there on a Wednesday night for the managers drinks and canapés open to all guests.

We came for a day trip & loved it. Would love to return & stay in the island. Plenty to do - kayaking, snorkelling, kids water park & pools. A paradise to relax & great buffet lunch catering for all dietary needs too (vegan)

This was one of the biggest let downs ever. The place is extremely outdated and not well kept. The adult pool was constantly full of kids, yet the staff never addressed this, resulting in no area for relaxation. Our room had cockroaches, black mold on the windows, moldy bedding, and a musty smell. The food was overpriced and not great. Asked for steak medium to well done and it came out almost raw. Bar was almost always unattended, and when they cleaned our room they left brown smears on my pillow case. The restaurant by the kids pool was often unattended, and the breakfast there was a poor excuse for food. This may be an ok spot for families with young kids, however a warning to couples, older people, and people with kids over 15, this is an absolute no go. The fine dining restaurant 1808 is constantly closed. They blame it on the bad weather, however it was closer even when sunny. It looks abandoned and the staff seemed extremely uncomfortable when you asked to book it. Overall we had a poor stay, and i do not recommend.

So, let me tell you about Castaway Island Resort Fiji. For a hotel that is older than the country of Fiji itself, there’s so much to be said about Castaway that I can’t even begin to put into a google review ; but I’m going to give it my best. If you’re trying to decide between this and another option for a special wedding, family, honeymoon or solo getaway, there’s obviously a lot to consider. For couples, honeymooners, wedding-goers - every bit of detail from the amazing beach side choir to the detailed floral arrangements and reception will blow you away, and that’s only covering the surface! The food is incredible (buffet, a-la-carte, a hidden sushi bar, sundowner pizza deck, I could go on and on!) If you have kids - every nanny on call is almost like a child whispering wizard that will get even the most timid young souls to be curious and excited to step away from mum and dad for a few hours. We have a 19 month old Velcro child who is normally a nightmare to separate from when there’s a new face around. We had 5 different caregivers over the course of our stay who won her over instantly and had her in stitches and exploring the whole time. That deserves 25 stars, not 5. The history of the island is special, and you feel it the moment you step on and are greeted by the amazing team here. If this resort was situated on the mainland of Fiji, I’d say run, don’t walk there. But even if you miss your ferry transfer and can’t find another boat or even kayak to get you out to Castaway, swim - it’s worth every second. Others during our stay talked about being 2nd, 3rd and some even 4th generation guests, and after a few days here you can certainly see why 🇫🇯 Vinaka vakalevu 🙏🏽

Fabulous location, wonderful friendly staff. Just there for a daytrip from Denarau on South Sea Cruises but certainly consider longer stay. Kayaks amd SUP boards complementary. We brought our own snorkelling mask and fins but they were available on the island (not sure if complementary).

This place was amazing. The staff are kind and caring. If you have children then this place is for you. Our teenagers were a little annoyed by kids crying at dinner, but it was fine. Snorkeling the Sand Bar was a lifetime experience, diving was pretty good too. The food is not bad. I do need to say please use the room safe for your cash and valuables. Someone, and we can only assume it was the cleaning staff went through my wife's purse and took $150fj as well as 2 of our son's expensive button-down shirts. I know clothing can't be locked up but the cash should have been. And the only ones who had access were the staff. We were shocked that this happened but didn't go to management because we knew they wouldn't be able to do anything. Overall the experience was great. I gave 2 stars because of the money and clothing incident. The service at lunch and dinner was just ok as well. We had one woman staff member who was amazing and on it with drinks but other times when we had someone else it took forever and I had to go get my drinks. I would still recommend this place, even with the negatives, just secure your money and jewelry.
