Castel Clara Thalasso & Spa

We stayed 3 nights in Castel Clara. The location is amazing and the room we had (overlooking the water) was recently renovated and beautiful. Perfect size for two! No air conditioning. For us, it was not so bad a problem but I can imagine it can get impossibly hot in the summer. Maybe just adding a fan to the room would be helpful! The restaurant Cafe Clara was amazing- the chef is really inventive and the dishes were truly beautiful. The servers were extremely professional and kind. The prices are expensive but it reflects the level of service and the amount of staff available for any request. We rented electric bikes and we had a fantastic time. On the negative side, the spa really needs renovation. We would not come back here for the spa. Peeling wallpaper, cracked tiles, moldy smell, rust etc. In general, the spa caters much more to older clientele and has a bit of a 1980s hospital vibe. But we can understand that it’s a super expensive project to renovate the spa and the hotel is working on it a little bit at a time. The outdoor pool is very nice though!

Came for a lovely lunch at Cafe Clara, we didn’t stay at the hotel. Lunch on the terrace was lovely on a perfect early September Saturday afternoon. Food was good, service was excellent, the view exceptional!

the location Castel Clara is just a jewel on Belle Ile located in an awesome environment facing the bay of Port Gulphar. The rooms are very nice spacious and very well furnished. The morning starts with a perfect breakfast and the team is very hostile even during the morning thus hour. The Spa area is holding a sauna as well as two pools, the outdoor pool is filled with sea water. We are at this place for the second time and rebooked for next year when we checked out. Not to forget the very good restaurant and pool side Bar Cotton.

service was mixed; some receptionists were wonderful, another one was neglectful. we did not receive any tour of the hotel on arrival (the welcoming sentence was "you did not reserve the restaurant and it is full"). but another receptionist guided us well on transport options. the room was good for the price, but overall maintenance leaves to be desired (e.g. the grouting of the pool). sometimes the wait was long in the barbeque area--more staff seems needed.

The hotel has very beautiful view, good indoor and outdoor swimming pools with jacuzzi. The room is clean and with very beautiful view. The food at the restaurant is good though a bit on the pricy side. It was a delightful stay.

What a great experience. We stayed 5 days. Staff is friendly and excellent. Breakfast and dinner was superb. We like both swimming pools.

We visited the gorgeous island of Belle Ile for the first time this weekend and what a great weekend we had. The hotel is set in a stunning location with amazing views and great facilities. We ate in the restaurant the first night and food, wine and service were all first class...can't recommend the Oysetrs enough!||We will definitely be returning!

Such a lovely week. Rooms comfortable, the location is stunning, but the service was superb. Friendly and informal.||Alex in the bar was first to shine, with the best basil and gin cocktail, as well as making rusty nails late at night. Then the 180 restaurant created a wonderful 8 course tasting menu to go with the terrific wines we had chosen - restaurant manager and team just lovely||This is a great place to recover from a busy life, and belle ile is amazing. Cycled up to sauzon on quiet back roads for a great lunch||We will be back
