Castel San Pietro

Castel San Pietro is one of the best viewpoints in Verona and a must-visit spot for anyone who wants to see the city from above. Sitting on a hill across the Adige River, the castle offers a stunning panoramic view of Verona’s historic center, with red rooftops, church towers, and the river winding gracefully through the city. The highlight here is undeniably the view. Whether you visit during the day, at sunset, or in the evening, the scenery is breathtaking and constantly changing. We went straight to see the city view from the top and it was sooooooooooo satisfying. Lots of stairs but it worth it. The view is amazing, the bridges, small waves, little birds, and yellow trees. I could just stand there looking at the view forever. On the they I went, there was a man with his guitar which was very beautiful. He made the moment their memorable. Love love love

The most beautiful sight for me in Verona. Such breathtaking views of Verona. Definitely a must see if you're visiting Verona. You can get here by foot or funicular and there's a bar on top.

Stunning and most beautiful sight in Verona. This is a must visit. Take the small funicular railway to get you there. Return tickets are priced 3€ per person. At the top you can always find some local musician playing guitar which really creates wonderful atmosphere, so you can additionally enjoy the view with some Italian notes in background.

Fantastic spot to get a full view of the City of Verona. Stunning views. Small funicular railway takes you to the top where you can get lovely coffees, deserts and ice creams on a hot day. The peace and quiet up here is just what you need after leaving the city streets.

If in Verona at sunset you must visit the viewing areas of the Castle. 3€ to use the funicular (09/2025). Amazing views of Verona. At sunset you won't be alone but it adds to the vibe. Also there was a musician to add to the atmosphere. We went 2 nights running!! Afterwards, it’s an easy stroll back into town to round off the evening with dinner or a refreshing glass of vino bianco. A perfect Verona experience.

great view, great for photos, fun spot. We caught the cable car to the top as it was a hot day. Many people think it is automatic, but its not. It is like an elevator, you need to press the button near the entry. Once up top, a great place to take photos is half way down the ramp to the left of the main viewing area. Your Friends or family can take a photo of you on the wall. The next stairs near the water drinking fountain can be used as a little slide if you are adventurous. Be careful it can ruin your pants and put holes.

Castel San Pietro is located on Saint Peter's hill few hundred meters above the Roman Theatre. We took a stairs that start right across Ponte Pietra, and pass next to the theatre but later learned there is a funicular that can be taken too. The hill has the most magnificent views of Verona. We were quite mesmerized. This was probably my favorite attraction in Verona, although the castle itself was closed to the visitors.

On our first day in Verona, we checked out Castel San Pietro in the evening. One of Verona's top attractions on TripAdvisor, it's a little deceiving. While it is a castle, you can't go inside. You can just see it from the outside. But the castle isn't actually the main attraction. You'll cross a bridge and then make your way up to the top of the hill. You can take the stairs like we did to get a workout out of it (the healthy option) or a funicular. Once you get to the top, you'll see stunning views of Verona. It's a great way to get a sense of the city. And better yet, we were there to see a sunset which made things even more beautiful. Panoramic views and a sunset . . . it doesn't get much better than that.

Let's start of by saying that if you want to burn 17383929 calories going up the stairs, this is the place to go! Hope this doesn't scare you off from climbing to the top! First of all, going up seems like forever, but as you're going up, there's a little restaurant/bar/aperitivo spot where you can indulge in a glass of prosecco, wine, aperol, you name it! They are extremely nice and you get the best view to go with it! A glass of white wine is only €3, cheaper than water! :p After you refresh yourself and breathe in the nice air, it's time to go up a little more. The views are WORTH it! You get a whole panoramic view of Verona and it almost seems unreal, like a postcard, especially if you take a pic with your iphone7 (camera does it all LOL). This place for sure takes the cake in Verona, and it is worth every little step you go up. The views are fantastic and picture perfect! The castle is done away with, or at least for now, you aren't able to go in..but it's ok! Just with the views itself it's totally worth it! MUST go here if you're in Verona!
