Castell de Llaés

Staying at this castle was the most magical experience I’ve had all year! The castle itself is GORGEOUS and well kept. Located in the middle of the mountains by Ripoll, it’s peaceful and quiet. When sitting outside in the gently breeze, the only sounds heard are faint cowbells in the distance. At night, you can see the Milky Way. Outside of exploring this 1,000+ year old landmark, the other great aspect of our experience was getting to know the owner, Mark and his wife. Mark was so knowledgeable about the castle’s history and took time to give us a tour across the grounds.

My girlfriend and I had an incredible stay at Castell de Llaés. We stayed for 4 nights and loved every minute of it. The drive there is beautiful and it’s easy to navigate. Once there, Marc greeted us and helped us take our luggage up to the castle, most of it via an electric pulley system. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you are confined to a wheelchair. Although it is a short walk, it is somewhat steep with a cliff and there is no way around using stairs. The courtyard is gorgeous and offers views in every direction. The cemetery is beautiful and so is the church. The living area of the castle is amazing and there is so much history and fascinating things to look at. There are multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, all very clean and beautiful. It is very quiet and peaceful and the views from the terraces are amazing. The dining room is large with two big tables that can fit about 8 people each. There is a radiator in every room and they work very well so it never gets too cold. The kitchen has everything you could need to cook. There is also wifi there and it works great, especially for the remoteness of the castle. Marc was very kind and helpful. He also gave us great advice on what to do nearby and where to go. This is a great place for a wedding, honeymoon, anniversary, reunion, etc. There is plenty of sleeping space and it is very romantic. We highly recommend staying here.

One of the most breathtakingly beautiful places I have ever been. Every view is perfect and the castle is very comfortable. The owner/groundskeeper is very helpful and kind, if you have the opportunity to stay here it is a once in a lifetime experience!

Marc was so witty and kind to my family, and was so incredibly helpful when we needed him. Thank you for allowing us to have our small wedding celebration there. We are so so grateful and it exceeded all of our expectations. You and Ginny are WONDERFUL!!!! We cannot wait to come back as a family in the future:)

One of the most memorable experiences of my life. My family had an amazing time and we will cherish the memories forever. Marc, Trufa, and Dora were the most welcoming and gracious hosts and we will miss you all.
