We stayed four nights in the wonderful Castelletto di Montebenichi. These hilltop apartments are definitely off the beaten track. If you are looking for convenience of restaurants and shopping, look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for quiet, fantastic views and a taste of slower pace, this might be a place for you. Marco has lovingly refurbished and updated four apartments in the small village (30 year-round residents) first established in the 13th century. Our kitchen was furnished with everything we need to make full meals, the living room is spacious and the bed comfortable. Best of all, however, is the pool and garden area. With so few guests we had the large pool overlooking the Tuscan countryside all to ourselves. We had originally scheduled daily sightseeing trips, but after experiencing the magic of the garden and pool ambiance, we decided to spend two of our days lounging around the pool, imagining having our own Italian villa.
