UNBELIEVABLE hospitality and lodging! Our host was extra helpful, the apartment clean, beautiful, well stocked kitchen & bath, updated yet decorated for the time period. Property and area gorgeous. Great location. Only set back was very hard mattress. Welcome basket so appreciated. Having laundry facility ++. No food available without a drive. Would come back in a heartbeat! A++ (tight drive into hilltop town fyi)

We stayed four nights in the wonderful Castelletto di Montebenichi. These hilltop apartments are definitely off the beaten track. If you are looking for convenience of restaurants and shopping, look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for quiet, fantastic views and a taste of slower pace, this might be a place for you. Marco has lovingly refurbished and updated four apartments in the small village (30 year-round residents) first established in the 13th century. Our kitchen was furnished with everything we need to make full meals, the living room is spacious and the bed comfortable. Best of all, however, is the pool and garden area. With so few guests we had the large pool overlooking the Tuscan countryside all to ourselves. We had originally scheduled daily sightseeing trips, but after experiencing the magic of the garden and pool ambiance, we decided to spend two of our days lounging around the pool, imagining having our own Italian villa.

We recently stayed four wonderful nights here during a visit to Tuscany for a wedding. It was a privilege to stay in a 12th century castle, which has been lovingly maintained by the owner Marco and his son. They were very friendly and hospitable hosts and provided a welcome basket of goodies and a bottle of wine! Marcello even gave us a bowl of freshly picked figs from a tree in their lovely gardens. Our apartment was lovely, clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It was very quiet and overlooked the gorgeous countryside. We enjoyed walking through the gardens and relaxing by the pool, and having the excellent laundry facilities onsite near the pool area was an added bonus! There's also a restaurant just a short stroll away from the apartments serving traditional cuisine, which was very convenient, we dined there two nights during our stay. We highly recommend staying here for a unique and memorable experience.

Our stay at Castelletto di Montebenichi was amazing and in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. Beautiful views, fabulous owner, and a rich history. You will find that Castello di Montebenichi is conveniently located to explore all the tourist towns of the wine region. The owner provided every amenity you could think of and had excellent restaurant recommendations! Our eleven days stay felt more like home than away and we would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a true relaxing Tuscan experience away from the crowds!

We had a fantastic stay here in the Tuscan countryside, the only problem is that we didn’t stay long enough. The apartment was extremely clean, the grounds were immaculate, and the silence was golden- hard to explain. We felt like we were at our new Tuscan country house after Day 2. It was actually quite sad to leave, and we hope to return one day. We will tell our friends about this place- we can’t thank Marco and Marcello enough.

Lovely but quite basic split level apartment - quite dark apartment but the gardens are a short stroll away and beautiful with a fabulous view. Marco and his son and all surrounding residents very hospitable and we got a tour of his renovation of the castle which was phenomenal.||Restaurant not open in village yet so quite remote.

Amazing place. The silence, the views, the facilities (immaculate). You will end up not wanting to leave. Marco and Marcello are great hosts, neighbour Lucia makes fantastic food, never had such tasty zucchini before (from her garden). I will be back to try the nearby Osteria, then eat more of Lucia's food, visit nearby towns and walk lots more in the forest and olive groves and of course stay at the enchanting Castelletto!

Yelp
This place is OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing. The location, the decor, the service... everything is absolutely perfect. It's very old world, but then again, the entire region of Tuscany is trapped beautifully in time. Let me start by describing the grounds. The castelletto (little castle) is quite possibly the most charming property I have ever stayed at. Marco has decorated the entire place with gorgeous antiques, and what a job he has done! There is not a corner, nook or cranny in the entire place that has not been thought out and deliberately designed. The rooms are extremely comfortable and decorated in the same antique-esque style as the rest of the property. There is no television, but we were able to rent a movie (bravo for Ratatouille with English subtitles) one evening. You won't even need to watch television, because this place is all about relaxation. The pool area was my favorite. Overlooking the lush Tuscan scenery, the pool is breathtaking. I blurted out some profanities when I walked down and saw where I would be spending my afternoon swimming. The best part? They have a little kitchen area with a fridge full of alcohol (from beer to champagne) and another fridge and freezer full of goodies (ice cream, frozen lasagna, etc.) if you get hungry. Everything is on the honor system, so you just take what you want and then write it down in the log book. You get charged upon checkout. My boyfriend and I were all alone at the pool most of the afternoon, and we treated ourselves to a bottle of champagne and some ice cream. It literally felt like we were staying at a wealthy friend's house, left to our own devices. Very private. Very beautiful. And very accommodating and comfortable. The cherry on top is Marco and his staff. Utter professionals, they made our holiday worth every penny. They were so helpful, friendly, and funny! Marco's got jokes, I tell you! There is not a lot going on around the castelletto at night, but rent a car (how else would you even even get to this place?!) and go to neighboring towns for dinner and shopping. So many cool little surrounding villages to explore. And you get to come back and spend time on the roof of the Castelletto di Montebenichi with your nightcap cocktail (they have a complimentary bar). This place is perfection. Please book your holiday and stay here. You will not regret it.

Yelp
A unique gem on a Tuscan hilltop. The hotel is in a castle, and there are common rooms filled with art, and a rooftop chill area. The rooms are unique and comfortable. Marco and the crew here really have created a cozy and authentic experience is real old-world Tuscany. We got the suite and it was worth it. The breakfast was incredible.
