An Italian Fashion Designer Shares His Favorite Spots in Milan

"I’m from Mantua originally, two hours east of Milan. I’ve heard people call it ‘the city of the clouds’ because it’s surrounded by lakes and the reflections make it look like it’s suspended in the sky. It was the seat of the Gonzaga dynasty, and they left an incredible architectural legacy. Castello di San Giorgio is beautiful."

Really fascinating place to explore—part medieval castle, part museum. The highlight is the *Camera degli Sposi*, a room with stunning 15th-century frescoes by Mantegna, full of amazing detail and clever perspective tricks. Love the mix of history, art, and Renaissance vibes all in one spot. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Mantua!

Quite an amazing palace - overwhelming to be honest. The grandeur of the rooms that they allow you to view is quite amazing.

Huge museum, very interesting, a lot of art, paintings, sculptures, painted ceiling and walls, beautiful view.

Visited on the 25th of November of 2022. There was no wait time. I didn't purchase tickets in advance. There are plenty of cheap roadside public parking spaces on SS 10 Padana Inferiore, which is a short walk to the castle.

This place, as the rest of historical Italy is truly. If you're on organized trip with local tour guide I'd strongly suggest you listen the history details about the castle and nearby places. Lots to see near by, so if you have a chance to visit this place just go for it :)

It belongs to a larger complex with Palazzo Ducale. Different museums to see, including natural history which is honestly captivating. Small, curated, rich.

Castello and Palazzo Ducale are one in the same. The frescos are absolutely amazing. Went on a Wednesday in May, no need to book tickets and no wait either.

Building in excellent condition, is part of the park that surrounds part of Lago di Mezzo, in a great location at one of the main entrances to the city.

This castle is part of the Ducal Palace. We were only able to take a ride by it, but found it to be very impressive. It is a reddish castle and dates back to the Middle Ages, from the time of the Gonzaga family. The construction of the large castle began in the year 1395 and was built to defend the city.
