A deeply disappointing experience. This place may look impressive from the outside, but don’t be fooled — the reality is far from the image they try to project. The management lacks professionalism and basic consideration for people. The staff is unreliable, and the way things are handled is far below what one should expect from a hotel that claims to be of high standard. There are many other beautiful places in Puglia that truly care about their guests and deliver the level of service and attention they promise. I would strongly advise looking elsewhere if you’re expecting quality, integrity, and a trustworthy experience.

Review of Our Magical Wedding at Castello di Ugento I can only describe our wedding experience at Castello di Ugento in one word: magical. From start to finish, every moment was simply unforgettable. Although we planned our wedding in just three months, the process felt seamless, and that is entirely thanks to Roby. She played a pivotal role in bringing our vision to life with her calm demeanour and unwavering support. Roby guided us through every step of the planning process, ensuring all legal documentation was handled smoothly. Her extensive knowledge and experience with various vendors were invaluable, and she was incredibly accommodating, even allowing us to introduce new vendors to the mix. The castle itself is breathtaking. Its tasteful renovations reflect sophistication and beauty, creating the perfect backdrop for our special day. From the elegant rooms to the stunning gardens, the venue exceeded our expectations. The staff at Castello were exceptional—warm, welcoming, and attentive. They truly made us feel at home and took care of us throughout the entire celebration. Special thanks to Isabella, Jos, and Chef Fernando, who were instrumental in making our day unforgettable. Speaking of unforgettable, the food was simply incredible—one of the best meals I have ever experienced. Even our wedding guests rave about it to this day! The team at Castello expertly accommodated various dietary requirements, ensuring everyone enjoyed a delightful dining experience. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire team at Castello for their dedication and exceptional service. They made our wedding a day to cherish forever, leaving us with memories we will hold dear for a lifetime. We had the most incredible time ever! Thank you, Castello di Ugento, for making our wedding so special!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Castello in Ugento for a friend's wedding, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience. This hotel is truly unique, combining the charm of a historic castle with the comforts of modern luxury. From the moment you arrive, the incredibly welcoming staff makes you feel right at home. Their warmth and attentiveness truly enhance the stay, ensuring that every guest feels like part of the family. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and designed with comfort in mind. The beds are large and extremely comfortable, providing a perfect night's sleep after a day of exploring. The bathrooms are equally impressive, with a generously sized shower that easily accommodates two people, adding a touch of indulgence to the stay. Thoughtful amenities like complimentary water, juice, and coffee are available, which is a lovely touch when you need a quick refreshment. There's also plenty of space to store your clothes, making longer stays more convenient. One of the highlights of Castello Hotel is the on-site restaurant, located within the castle itself. It's not only convenient but offers the perfect opportunity for a quick bite before heading out to explore the beautiful city of Ugento. The combination of location and culinary quality truly elevates the overall experience. Castello Hotel is an exceptional place to stay, with a unique blend of historic charm, modern comfort, and a staff that goes above and beyond. If you’re looking for a memorable experience with a personal touch, this is the place to be.

This beautiful hotel is located in the town of Ugento in southern Italy. It is a restored castle, its rooms are comfortable and very well decorated. The service is excellent!! The second level is the original rooms of the castle with frescoes dating back from 1695. The hotel restaurant is one of the best in the region. with exquisite wines from the Puglia region.|It is close to santa maria di Leuca snd other little towns like Otranto and Treccia |I Highly recommend this Hotel and the restaurant !!!

The hotel is beautiful. We really liked our room. Some things that could be improved:|1) a tour of the property would have been nice.|2) wine upon arrival was suppose to be included in our reservation but unfortunately even after asking Isabella for it, we still didn’t get it. She said the next time we visit the property we will get it. Very poor customer service.||3) a little more attention to detail when cleaning the room would be good. I included some photos of areas that needed better cleaning. Using bleach to clean the mildew in the shower. And daily cleaning of the air vents (which are very easy to reach) should be done.||4) the shower light kept turning off and on. Needs repairing.||5) Great Chef! Just wish we had veal instead of pork as indicated in the recipe we received. I believe this was done to save money for the hotel since it’s cheaper to have pork. ||We won’t be back to this hotel. I know there has to be better service elsewhere.||Sam and Tony were GREAT!!

Originally a Norman Castle, but totally rebuilt in the 17th century by the family of the current Principe and quite recently converted Into a luxury boutique hotel, Castello di Ugento is a mixed bag. ||The building is stunning. The rooms and bathrooms are well equipped, large and luxurious. The service at reception is excellent and we would pick out particularly Toni and Mirko. The walled garden is delightful ( note that most rooms have no outside space and there is no swimming pool). ||However, housekeeping has some faults (eg towels not all replaced and peeling paint in the shower section); the ubiquitous piped music is constant and random in genre ( Frank Sinatra to Italian pop to who knows what!); the Tempo Nuovo restaurant is way overpriced for the quality of the food (see separate review); and, frankly, there isn’t much to do in the hotel or in Ugento. So, you are paying very high prices for somewhere that you’re unlikely to spend much time. Worth a day or two though.

A truly special experience even from before arriving. The team helped us put together an amazing itinerary for our stay in Puglia - booking beaches, coastal private boat tours, amazing restaurants, hikes and more. We did two of the cookery classes at the Castello which were sensational. As for the Castello itself, even the best pictures cannot prepare you for how incredible this place is. Restored beautifully with high spec modern finishes. From the moment you arrive and walk through the gate you are treated like family and this place very quickly becomes home from home. The grounds are spectacular and peaceful. Location-wise it’s a perfect spot to see the beautiful region. Best to have a car to get around but the Castello also has a driver service for trips that involve wine or if you aren’t driving. However you don’t need to go anywhere - the restaurant serves magnificent dishes and local wines. The best part of the hotel is the team. Professional but relaxed, they work hard to make sure you have the most amazing experience and quickly feel like old friends. Roberta and team - thank you. I am already looking forward to coming back.

This was one of the best most beautiful experiences. The Castello is STUNNING and has a rich history. It only has 8 rooms - so it genuinely feels like you have the entire grounds to yourself. It's situated in a town that is extremely local. If you're looking to off the tourist trail and enjoy delectable food, incredible service and one of the BEST overall vacations we've ever had. I don't have enough words. We will be back FOR SURE.
