Castello Di Velona Resort, Thermal SPA & Winery - Montalcino - Tuscany

Gorgeous views and wonderful service! We had the most amazing dinners with live music. The wine tasting was held in a private room with wonderful wine made in their vineyard. The water in the pool is so nice and warm as it comes from the springs! Don't miss out on the spa! I received the best massage with a view of the Tuscany countryside, which is so incredible we had to upgrade to the room with a view to match!

Me and my wife stayed there for our honeymoon. We had an exceptional time. The service was exceptional. The pools and amenities were very nice. Great breakfast. Located close to montelcino and many great wineries. Specifically, we really enjoyed the wine tasting. The entire staff were great but here are some standouts , We were helped by Kristian who made us feel extremely welcomed and Morris who performed our wine tasting and he was wonderful. Strong recommendation, great value.

Amazing views from every angle. The few interactions with the staff were friendly. However couldn’t get help for the spa or pool area. One would think since it’s not crowded property the staff should be ready at the drop of a hat. Food was overly expensive probably because there’s nothing else unless you drive to town. Rooms look nice with beautiful travertine but little details need attention such as some lights not working. Poor bourbon selection. When asking about local activities (such as hiking) it’s almost as if they aren’t prepared to answer questions unless it’s about wine or wine. Be prepared to take lots of stairs to get to the rooms. Property is truly beautiful and I would give them another chance if I return to Montalcino. Hopefully they make some adjustments to justify the high prices and earn the luxury status.

My wife and I keep returning to this beautiful UNESCO property. ||It is uniquely perched on top of a hill overlooking the gorgeous UNESCO views of Tuscany and their vineyards. ||There is a pool, spa and spa treatment center and two restaurants on the property. |The food in the terrace restaurant, mostly traditional Tuscan, is exceptional as is the service. A large breakfast buffet is offered daily on the terrace as well. Their omelets are exceptional. The other restaurant offers seafood and on bad weather days, rather than outside, food is served in an elegant restaurant near the main lobby. Again, the food and service is exceptional. ||Days consist of chilling at the pool and spa or taking trips to some of the excellent local Brunello wineries for tastings. CDV also produces Brunello and delicious Tuscan olive oil which we have been purchasing for years. ||The entire staff and management works hard to please and accommodate your requests. ||We will, as in the past, plan to return.

Had an incredible wine-tasting experience with Alessandro! He is extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and made the entire experience fun and memorable. His expertise in wines and spirits is outstanding, and he introduced us to some incredible selections. Highly recommend spending time with him! you’ll leave with both a smile and new wine knowledge!

I stayed in the Resort for few days with my family. First of all, I would express my appreciation for the kindness and professionalism of the staff. They helped us in any circumstance and they did their best to satisfy our requests. Having said that, I consider the service provided well below the expectations considering the price we paid. Indeed, we selected this place to celebrate my son’s and my birthdays, hence we were looking for a special place. Unfortunately and unexpected, the room was not well organized: there were no luggage stands, the windows didn’t have an effective obscuring system (the curtains are not enough), the fridge was to small and difficult to reach, the appliances are below the standard (only coffe machine, no kettle, no ice container, etc.), the amenities in the bathroom were below the basic that you can find in a 4 stars hotel. We had to call the maintenance often and even to adjust the air conditioning because no basic instructions were available. We also had a dinner at their restaurant and it was a very negative experience: the food came late and it was very basic, the prices are absolutely not aligned to the food provided. We were in Tuscany and we had much better food at a much lower price in the next days! The location is amazing but the solution is not “value for money”at all! When we left the location, I expressed all my concerns providing a detailed and frank feedback to the receptionist and the manager. As partial compensation they applied a discount on our restaurant bill and gifted us with a bottle of their Brunello. Next time I will visit this wonderful part of Italy, I will select a different location

We spend every year a long weekend with my wife in a romantic and intimate place without our kids. My had chosen this plan last time. And it was a 100% perfect choice. All details were just great. Our room was spacious and smart with a great view of the Tuscan hills. I should say that the surrounding and the view were gorgeous at each part of the hotel. And the restaurant. No words which could describe the fantastic experience we had at all dinners and also at breakfast. Smart, elegant, romantic atmosphere, awesome dishes with an excellent Brunello and beautiful view. We spend our days at the pool which was also a great and relaxing enjoyment. Beyond all praise experiment!

I will be staying at Castello di Velona in just over 10 days and wanted to compliment the team on the amazing service in preparing for my visit with my son. I called the front desk and spoke to the most helpful young woman (I cannot remember her name). I asked about upgrading my room describing what I needed. To my surprise, she told me that higher categories are available but that the room I have been allocated is one of the nicest and given my requirements of 2 rooms, I should consider staying in this category. This bodes well in a world where everyone seems to be trying to get you to spend more. Thank you for this and for the restaurant help. So much appreciated. See you on Monday 14th July. Can't wait.
