Castello Maniace

Castello Maniace is a beautiful place, and visiting around sunset is truly magical — the golden light makes the castle and surrounding views even more stunning. Nearby, you can also explore the angel wing sculptures, which add a whimsical touch to the visit. Just be mindful of the castle’s opening hours so you don’t arrive when it’s closed. A perfect spot for photos, a peaceful stroll, and soaking in the history and atmosphere of Siracusa.

Nice castle with amazing views. Also reasonably priced at €6 per person (for adults). Not a lot to see but good experience nonetheless.

In my opinion, the place has been changed, demolished and rebuilt so many times that it is unlikely to satisfy visitors looking for authentic preserved architecture. On the other hand, in my opinion, it is a place where you can take very good photos - the many windows with views of the sea and the panoramic view from the roof are worth it. When we were there, there was also an exhibition of originals by classical impressionists, which was also interesting. However, I cannot give a maximum rating because of the little context for the era that the surviving remains provide.

Visited Castello Maniace while in Ortigia and found the site genuinely impressive. The fortress architecture and the sweeping coastal views made it a great place to wander for about an hour. The interior is fairly simple, but the setting and history carry the experience. Entry was on the pricey side, but the views and atmosphere still made it worthwhile. Great views from castle, and 2 museums in it, 1 at entrance and another thats seperate and needs seperate tickets. Most of the castle is free to explore, in decent conditions.

Loved visiting this fascinating place. We purchased tickets at the gate and there was no wait. The history of it was amazing and we found we could walk around easily to access everything. There are some great views when you climb up as well. Recommended

Fantastic views from the ramparts but could do with more information or an audio guide. Last entry at 15:45 and closes at 16:30.

Checked this beautiful place out while in Syracuse in December. It was so nice to wake through it. Very beautiful.

In Catania for business and has one afternoon for R&R and tourist fun. Was told Siracusa was epic and took the one hour ride over to visit. After an epic wine lunch (two bottles I think), we took a walk and happened upon this incredible fort. Great history. Beautiful scenery. Inexpensive. Perfect. Interested me enough to read up on this incredible town that has been around since 700BC and a key part of at least four great civilizations. Wow!
