Stayed there in 1978 when it was a youth hostel! Off season, my friend and I were the only "guests"! I actually drove my 2CV IN TO THE COURTYARD! THE ROOM we slept in had just two cots with mattresses. There was the spot on the ramparts where Giacomo MARAT was executed, my friend said that he asked the firing squad not to shoot him in the face (vain but good looking!) But this made them so nervous, one of them did!
So, he then told me that he had heard Marat's ghost still roamed there at night; we couldn't sleep. I suggested we go into town but when we got to the gate of the castle we found ourselves LOCKED in! Forced to stay, every noise from wind, mice? , etc. became Marat's ghost! The caretaker let us out that morning. We did Not stay in town for breakfast!
