All the staff we met were extremely pleasant and helpful. Hotel is lovely. We stayed in the tower and the decor is amazing. Breakfast was perfectly adequate and had everything you needed for a buffet. Bar staff really friendly. Food at the bar was where a point was lost.

The location is magnificent with a fantastic garden, spectacular vintage main building (where you get breakfast), and very nice rooms. The hotel is 25 minutes walk from the river. The breakfast is really good both in terms of food quality and especially the rooms. The staff is helpful and nice. The garden is fantastic, lots of shade areas to enjoy the evening without overheating. The only issue is the parking space because it's a narrow lane and if cars are already parked at both sides you'll have a hard time parallel parking, and especially getting out. I didn't use the car at all during my stay, and luckily when I checked out every other guest took their car so I had space to maneuver.

Exceeded our expectations!Beautiful property inside and out. We stayed in the older ‘tower’ and the rooms were gorgeous. Very friendly & helpful staff. Delicious and plentiful breakfast. About a mile outside of the historic center of Porto so nice and quiet. The walk to sights was not long or you can take the subway. Also great place to park a car right on the property. Highly recommend!

We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff are all so lovely, kind, and helpful. On the couple days we were out early before breakfast they offered packed meals to take with us which was so nice of them. The rooms were lovely and the hotel is so beautiful with the white and blue tiles outside and the beautiful decor inside. It’s a good walking distance from the town Centre and a metro station nearby as well. I can’t recommend this hotel enough

We just completed our splendidly comfortable stay here ! The service was outstanding! Lionel,Peter, & Margarita were extremely hospitable and warm in the interactions! They recommended places for food and visits and carried our oversized luggage in and out, without even us requesting for it. Our room had a massive sit out balcony and was clean and well maintained. Since we are vegetarians , our options could have been limited, but it was not so . This place is convenient and well maintained. We were able to enjoy the essence of Porto and the beauty of this place and warm hearted people here. The breakfast had a generous selection of food, delicately and deliciously prepared. This location is close to metro services and plenty of shops and restaurants! We highly recommend this castle, which is now a hotel to experience and explore Porto❤️

Lovely, unusual hotel , mix of traditional and modern. My room was a modern ‘garden’ room , large, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff were amazing, particularly Joana at reception, she went out of her way to help, very very much appreciated. Breakfast was adequate. Hotel walking distance to main tourist spots and Ribeira, however steep uphill walk on way back.

We stayed here because we could park in the hotel. It’s a quiet hotel in a quiet area of town with a mixture of modern rooms and an 18th century building. Architecturally a mismatch. It is on several levels and the the only lift is from the car park to the reception. The steps were challenging in the awful unexpected heat. ||The good things were the ability to park your car, the incredibly friendly and kind staff and an extremely comfortable room on ground level. It was the room for wheelchair guest and very accessible and well designed. Great WiFi. ||Some complain about its distance from town. It is a downhill walk to town which in the heatwave was tough but manageable. Coming back a challenge too far. However it’s really near the yellow metro line which takes you into the heart of Porto very quickly. We used this all the time. And Uber dnd taxis were very cheap. |There are no free water bottles in the room which was a mistake in the searing heat. Or at any time really. We found this in other Portuguese hotels but never in Spain. ||For its star rating the biggest disappointment was breakfast. The worst on our road trip so far. You have to climb up a fair flight of stairs to get there to find an unattractive table of plates of unappetising ersatz cheese and meats from packets, a new toaster that just couldn’t toast, a chafing dish of cubes of cut cheap sausage, tinned mushrooms, squares of undercooked pallid bacon and eggs that had been scrambled who know when. I couldn’t face them. A real shame as we had decent food in the bistro. ||We would stay again if using a car

Room was well decorated, situated on the 3rd floor with a large private balcony with space for deck chairs. Bed was comfortable. No lifts so expect to carry your suitcases for 3 floors. Breakfast was ok but not amazing, without much drinks selection. Free luggage storage available. No towels in the room upon checkin. Called reception once and went down 2 times to ask for towels but still took them over 30minutes to bring 2 towels up

Yelp
Castelo Santa Catarina turned out to be a wonderful place to stay in Porto. They had gated parking for our rental car, and the location was perfect for never moving it while we were there. The hotel is within easy walking distance of both local restaurants, and an easy downhill stroll to all the things you come to Porto to see. The subway gets you back to the nearby Marques metro station when you've had enough walking. The hotel itself is delightfully quirky - the 'castle' is wonderfully decorated, as are the grounds and gardens. Most guest rooms are scattered around the property. We had a spacious, comfortable, modern room in a 2 story motel-like addition at the back of the property. In addition to the beautiful gardens that you pass through to get anywhere, be sure to seek out the lawn and stairway to a patio full of trees at the southwestern corner of the grounds - the views of the city from there are wonderful. The staff here was terrific - taking their time to instruct guests on what should be seen in the city. A fantastic touch was, when it rained overnight, they left golf umbrellas outside every room, in case they were needed to get to breakfast. A variety of tilework puts the perfect finishing touch on this lovely place to stay.
