It probably helps that the weather was marvellous. But hey that it is how it is in early July.

A wonderful place to spend a couple of hours and take in the outstanding scenery. €2 well spent. 🙏🏽❤️

Beaches are great, town a little disappointing. Seafood restaurants near the Port end of town looked interesting. Free parking near the Port.

Worth 2€. A couple of interesting things inside, but to be honest the best is certainly the view. Not suitable for people struggling with stairs ;)

Beautiful castle with amazing views around the bay of San Vicente de la barquera. Inside you can see a hugh canon. When you go upstairs you can walk around and enjoy the views and take nice pictures. At the end there is a church you can visit too. Inside the central hall there is a 3D maquete of the castle and town.

Great walk from the town center to the castle. Awesome views and the cathedral is up there too. You can see the whole robes and the town from there. Peaceful and beautiful. A must see if you are in San Vicente de la Barquera. There sometimes a few expositions of local artist in the near museum. Usually free entrance.

Castillo del Ray is a 13th Century castle overlooking San Vincente de la Barquera's town and harbour. The monument is spectacular for the audacity of its engineering on such difficult terrain. It is not ornately appointed but it is but it is spacious, with stairwells and parapets for defence that offer terrific views of the harbour it once stood guard over. Also, it provides scope for a child's mind to run rampant. Castillo del Ray ticks all the boxes for an intact, bijou medieval castle. Well worth the modest entrance fee.
