This is not a castle but a natural basalt outcrop that has the appearance of a crumbling medieval fortress. It doesn't make it less spectacular though. The surroundings were covered with mist when we visited, but we still managed to get great pictures. Totally worth the hike in any weather.

Wonderful scenery and an easy hike around some classic Scottish ruins.

A great hilltop in the resemblance of a castle for some great breathtaking views and great photography shots with a nice digital camera! Do be careful when going up and down as the gap to get up to the top, is very narrow and if you’re a big fella, you might not be able to get through. Going down is another problem as the rocks can get easily knocked up when trying to descend.

A wee climb to the top gives a good view. It is not suitable for small children or elderly or those with mobility difficulties.

I wasn’t expecting anything and when I saw it I got breathless! It is stunning in my opinion, not only the ruins but the paths and the scenery are gorgeous! I think it’s a ‘must go’ if you come to Skye. I couldn’t avoid creating daydreaming fairy tales in my mind! 🌈💙

High point of the Fairy Glen, giving good views of the intriguing landscape of grassy mounds caused by landslips. Spent around 30 - 40 minutes looking around. Short but steep climb up Castle Ewen. Nice foxgloves growing around the lake in August. Reasonable size paid parking area, but best to visit early as it gets busy later in the day.

Most go for the circle but I would recommend you come here for this! Once you get to the top of it, you can see all of the unusual and fascinating land formations around you! Of course you can also see the circle but the whole valley is just a sight to behold!
