"In the late 1880’s, Pasadena became a popular winter resort for wealthy East-Coasters, and an enterprising hotelier began building a grand hotel that would eventually become known as the Hotel Green. It was designed from the beginning as a convenient, all-inclusive resort complex, with the builders going so far as construct the first Santa Fe Railroad depot just to the south, so travel-weary visitors had only to go half a block to find the comfort of the hotel’s luxurious lounges and rooms. As the hotel thrived in the 1890’s, it expanded across Raymond Avenue in the form of an eclectic 7-story building which mixed Spanish, Moorish, and Victorian styles together to arrive at something truly uncategorizable. This first annex to the hotel – now known as Castle Green - is all that remains of the lavish resort. It was connected to the main building by a pedestrian bridge which was demolished (except for the western portion) in the 1920’s. To the south were landscaped grounds, which are now Pasadena’s Central Park. The hotel succumbed to the changing tastes of travelers, the effects of the Great Depression, and the decline of railroads in the face of air travel. Castle Green clung on long enough for appreciation for historic buildings to come into vogue, and it has since been renovated and converted into an apartment building and special events center." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

We just got married at Castle Green May 2024 and it was such a wonderful experience. First, the people make such a difference, and working with Tatiana made the process so easy and made us feel at home. The Castle itself is beautiful and interesting (we loved the history of it), my husband and I knew this was where we wanted to get married right away. It's always kept in beautiful condition and seems to run very smoothly. I loved that our guests could enjoy the different spaces - front lawn, front foyer, red rooms for cocktail hour, and dining room. It made the event flow really nicely. They have everything figured out and we liked that, it made everything easy. Can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else. Thank you Castle Green! photos by TeriB Photography

While this is now a private condominium complex of sorts, it is still a beautiful building. I would have loved to have been able to see the inside. It is something special to see. The building is celebrating their 125th anniversary with a gala in March with proceeds used for restoration.

Two times a year Castle Green condos are open to the public. It originally was a hotel. Built in the late 1800's fully electric. The money collected all goes to the repair and maintenance of the building. Some of the Condos are open and are well decorated and beautiful. Personally any of the units with balconies or the penthouse I would be glad to move into.

Castle Green is a stunning wedding venue located in the heart of Pasadena, California, and it's truly a magical place to tie the knot. The venue's historic architecture and charming features make it a popular choice for couples who are looking for a rustic, romantic, and luxury venue all in one. As a photographer, I had the pleasure of capturing the special moments of a wonderful couple on their wedding day at Castle Green. The venue's stunning architecture and beautiful surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for their big day. The wedding ceremony was held in the courtyard, which was adorned with beautiful flowers and greenery, adding to the overall romantic and elegant atmosphere. After the ceremony, we took some photos in the courtyard before heading up to the Terrace, where we captured some truly breathtaking sunset photos. The view of Pasadena's skyline from the Terrace was absolutely stunning, and the golden hour light added a warm and intimate glow to the photos. As the sun began to set, we moved back down to the courtyard, where the reception was held. The venue's rustic charm was on full display, with its exposed brick walls, vintage furniture, and elegant chandeliers. The overall effect was a beautiful mix of old-world charm and modern elegance. Overall, I absolutely loved photographing this wedding at Castle Green, and I would be thrilled to come back and photograph this venue again. Its combination of rustic charm, romantic atmosphere, and luxury amenities make it a top choice for couples looking for a one-of-a-kind wedding venue in Los Angeles.

Castle Green remains to be one of my favorite wedding venues in Southern California. I've shot a number of weddings over the few years and I'm always impressed with Tatiana and the onsite team and security. The grounds remain so well kept season after season. This venue is a little spooky [in a great way!] and really feels like you're stepping into the past. They have many wonderful spots for photos along with some secret places just for the wedding couple. It's such a unique setting for weddings and you are in great hands with this skilled team!

We were married at Castle Green in April 2023 and it was amazing! Planning started in March of 2022, and CG's event coordinator Tatiana was a joy to work with. When the day finally came, our guests were stunned by the outdoor ceremony space, and the hits kept coming. The cocktail area and the ballroom were breathtaking, and my wife and I were able to use the rooftop for incredible photos. At the end of the night, we all agreed, that "impeccable" was the word to describe this wedding. Circling back, this experience would not have been possible without Tatiana. She was so friendly and fast with answering our questions and questions from our vendors. Such a great venue and such great staff!

Castle Green was an absolute dream to get married at. It’s beautiful both inside and outside. I instantly fell in love with it the first time I went to visit. You don’t need much decor if you don’t want because it already has all the glam you need. We originally booked the venue back at the end of 2019 to have our wedding in 2020. Obviously that didn’t happen, but during that time they were so accommodating as we postponed our wedding twice. Tatiana, the coordinator, let me go visit the venue multiple times and bring my family and friends who were helping me plan. I used Romanesque catering, which is connected to Castle Green. Because they work together all the time, the wedding went so seamlessly. Everyone commented and how wonderful, fun and efficient our wedding was because of how great the staff was. I am so pleased with how everything went and hope to one day be able to attend a wedding there myself as my husband and I didn’t get to enjoy our favorite part of the venue (the cocktail hour rooms!) since we went up to do rooftop photos during that hour.
