Just had a very enjoyable short break at The Castle Hotel with our dog. The fantastic garden is a real plus. Rooms are comfortable, food is excellent, staff are very friendly. There is plenty to do and see in this beautiful area, especially with a four legged friend - this is the most dog friendly place we have ever been to. All in all, a great success. We will be back.

Although we've visited Bishps Castle many times over the years, we'd never been to the Castle Hotel. We've had lunch there 3 times in the past week! Each time, we've sat in the garden enjoying the views over the town to the hills beyond, watching red kites, jackdaws and swallows overhead. The food was excellent. I'm vegan and had the sweet potato lentil shepherd's pie once. It was very tasty but there weren't many lentils and the accompanying green beans were almost raw. The other 2 days I had a delicious Malaysian vegetable curry. My partner had the bacon, Brie and cranberry toastie twice and a tuna cheese melt one day. And said both were very good.

First I had a wonderful experience on the phone booking a room- the 'Lady' was absolutely customer orientated! On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly face and voice (after having viewed efforts in presentation of flower display at the entrance- we were already smiling). Things never dipped- EVERYTHING about our one night stay has been EXCELLENT - "All the staff make the effort to provide with courtesy and professional attitude!" The room (Room 9) was and is absolutely SPOTLESS! CLEAN and inviting- perfect for us! The bed feels like a king couldnt complain! My wife has mentioned more than once that they have tried to cater for ALL possible needs with even a hairdryer left to use. I urge anyone to book here not merely for the staff or the beautiful Hospitality but for the location too: A town FULL of very courteous and friendly people that made this one day experience so wonderful and scenery with sounds of nature that I miss from my youth- I don't think even a five star rating is good enough. The owners must be proud of the efforts made- "CLEANING STAFF ARE TOP NOTCH PROFESSIONALS!" ALL THE STAFF AT THE CASTLE HOTEL ARE TOP NOTCH PROFESSIONALS!" I think price does matter and to get the value we have experienced means a lot- to get the service we have received and still be able to afford the souvenirs is delightful- THANK YOU to EVERYONE we have met at the Castle Hotel and in Bishops Castle. Congratulations for showing us that Real people still exist.

3 guys staying locally for two nights and ate evening meals at the Castle Hotel. Could not fault the service, food, prices or facilities. Dinner both nights was superb for all of us. The beer garden is also lovely.

What a delight! We came here x3 days in a row, it was just so lovely. ||||The warm welcome, smiley staff, friendly, helpful, so welcoming and made us feel right at home. So much attention to detail… when we booked ahead we mentioned we had our dog and when we got there, there was a bowl of fresh water placed at our table, ready for him. How lovely. ||||The food was fantastic, a great variety of options to choose from. A refined selection of veggie, vegan, meat and fish. ||||The garden out the back was just delightful. So much space! And the views were spectacular. We sat here one afternoon, after a long walk and had a couple of drinks, watching birds of prey above the rolling hills. So picturesque it was stunning.||||They also have designated ‘dog stations’ where there is endless fresh water and bowls available. ||||We highly recommend coming here! We will definitely be back and will recommend to our friends and family. ||||I should point out also, that after having an awful experience elsewhere one evening, we called the castle hotel to see if they could accommodate us for a last minute dinner booking and they did exactly that, no fuss. Welcomed us with open arms. Fabulous!

We were stopping in the lovely village for one night. We've been here before, but not for many years.||Although we didn't stay at the Castle Hotel we wished we had, as the dining experience was first class. The food was superb, the restaurant beautiful and the service second to none. It was the last night of our trip, and we were pleased to finish in such great style.||All three courses for both of us were better than expected bearing in mind the reasonable price, and presented with some style. Kudos to the chef!

8 of us (adults, children and two dogs) went for dinner and we had a fabulous time. All the food was delicious, generous portions and came out fast. One of our group is celiac and she was very happy with what was on offer. Service was very good, attentive and friendly. The garden area is large with amazing views and if we lived in the area we'd definitely come back on a regular basis! An absolute gem!

A real pleasure to stay at The Castle Hotel in quiet Shropshire! Excellent engaging hosts, first class professional friendly helpful staff, comfortable rooms, lovely garden area, and the food and wine were splendid. Highly recommended. Nearby Ludlow is also well worth a visit. We have been before to The Castle Hotel and will return again! Mike H

Yelp
Surely there's an award for best pub garden out there somewhere and this pub simply MUST win it! Every Englishmen loves settling in for a good bank holiday session and this pub garden was the most perfect location for it. Set at the top of the little High Street in Bishops Castle, the view stretched for miles across the immaculate English and Welsh countryside. There is a vast amount of space, with lots of large tables for big parties and a stretch of grass where children and dogs ran freely, out of the way of the tables. The pub served lots of lovely locally brewed ales, my friends and I enjoyed many a Shropshire lad! Although I didn't have chance to sample the food, it smelt and looked delicious. I am now seriously considering moving to Shropshire.

Yelp
This hotel and town were perfect for a relaxing few days. The hotel was charming and well-run by the proprietors. The rooms were comfortable and ours had an amazing view. We enjoyed our meals in the hotel, especially the full breakfast. There was plenty of room to sit and have lunch, tea or beer both inside and outside. Everyone was so friendly. Definitely with some of my favorite vacations and we'll be returning next time we're in Britain.

Yelp
A little gem in a hidden corner of Shropshire. Inexpensive and full of character. Being run by new owners and has a good, friendly, try hard feel to it. Good beers on tap, friendly staff and a homely feel with the dog wandering in and out of the bar. Cooperative and eager to please. Seek it out.
