The 6 Best Hotels in Stockholm (Updated 2025)

"I like its cozy, rustic feel that suits the Old Town: hardwood floors, classic wooden furniture with a minimalist design, and bright, airy rooms. It's a budget-friendly, no-frills hotel with free Wi‑Fi, a TV, and a desk in every room, and each room even has a private balcony. Note that only some rooms have an en suite bathroom (the rest are shared), so book accordingly if that matters to you; the bathrooms are well maintained and have good water pressure." - Matthew Kepnes

Nestled right in the historic parts of stockholm this neat little hotel was a very lucky find. The rooms where big and clean. We had access to a private bath. The rooms also seemed to be used in a variety of configurations though so if the place is more filled that might be different. The price was unbeatable and the service was friendly. While not luxurious we had every amenity near by in other shops. A little bakery down the street or a nice place to have dinner further in to the historic city. It is also located close to a parking garage so you can leave your car. Will cost in addition though. Since there is a no child and no party policy it was very quiet and very relaxing.

extremely overpriced! There is a shared bathroom, which they mention clearly, however; in the bathroom there was mold, one of the shower rooms always smells bad, the toilets are so close to the shower area, it feels uncomfortable. There is no shampoo or shower gel or toothpaste or anything of the sort provided to make up for the price, i had to buy everything and leave half used bottles as i left. There is no hand towel, so after washing hands I was wiping them with toilet paper. The bathroom was also at the other end of the corridor and running all the way there while i had food poisoning was a nightmare. They don’t allow cancellation and rescheduling can be done only one time, which is also too much given the price they want and service provided. Paying €640 per 4 nights, I was expecting more services such as shower amenities provided or at least a free coffee bar but there is nothing at all to be offered. It’s like a hostel that costs like a 4 star hotel. The location was the only nice thing. Overall, I do not recommend booking here unless they offer rooms with a relevant price.

The Castle House Inn is in a FABULOUS location. It is an easy walk to all the memorable sites in Old Town. The staff was exceptionally helpful. The room was modest but more than adequate. It was a great value for the location.

The price appeared like cheap but it’s in shared room with 12 and then when you booked with private room and bathroom was looking an affordable but instead of 2 nights they confirmed only 1 night with price of 4 stars . If this hotel has 1 star is already too much . The bathroom is very small, no electricity plug in bathroom, the room curtain doesn’t close completely and stay 30 cm without it able to close and light get into the room from the street. I had to put a pillow to try to close it. The shower is with bad curtains which water goes all around, therefore they provide water squeegees for but that is not I am expecting for a type of 4 stars hotel class price. Terrible service as well I was to arrive bit late and they wanted to charge 500 Swedish krone because I’ll arrive around 23:00. Never again!!!

The accommodations are very basic with shared bathrooms. It's still private and we never really saw any other guests so we never had to wait for the showers etc. The reception opens at 7 am and closes whenever they want so you can't rely on someone being there. It was not a problem for us anyways.

Good location for Old town and Royal Palace and ferries as well as walking distance to other islands nearby for museums. Clean and warm accommodation and toilets. Have to ask for kettle but no tea or coffee in the room. There’s no toiletries in the shower. No 24 hour reception.

Recomendable. Everything went smoothly. Common bathrooms clean and available. Only drawback was the (garbage? And other) truck noise in the small street that went on for an hour every morning around 8. Might be cool in the winter, the windows and the lack of insulation (see noise) weren't very convincing. The elevator doesn't work after around 22 in the evening that might be problematic for some.

Google
The location of Castle House Inn is undeniably excellent, situated in the heart of Stockholm's Old Town. The rooms are clean, and the staff is generally helpful. However, the communication style regarding hotel policies felt overly strict and unwelcoming. Clear rules are essential, but the tone used in messages and signage came across as harsh, which detracted from the overall experience. A more courteous approach would greatly enhance guest satisfaction.

Yelp
You get what you pay for. No frills and very barren but good value for the money and clean. Probably could use some updates but then they might raise the prices. Well located in Gamla Stan. Brace yourself for a total lack of amenities: no counters except a desk, no hand towels (only bath 2 bath towels), no morning coffee/breakfast (there is a great bakery just down the block). We didn't understand the bathroom floor squeegee at first but its usefulness became apparent after a shower. Beds are comfortable but 1 of the 2 rooms literally just fit the beds (you have to climb over your companion to get in and out) and the other room was more spacious. The more spacious room - one of the beds had legs that looked like it was going to break but it held up; the side cubbies was also missing from the headboards. It is recommended to use the stairs but once the gates are locked the elevator is your only choice. The elevator is slow and small - trying to get 4 people with luggage to fit in took some maneuvering and was like trying to get a circus full of clowns into a clown car. The staff is gruff and totally inflexible about a late check in (so watch if you have a late flight and stay in communication with them via the app text). No phone number - you chat/email or press the buzzer. Good free wifi - the password is in small font on the key envelope. And the advice from a previous review was super helpful - take a short walk and eat at Gastabud for amazing local cuisine. Castle House Inn is an economical place to stay - just go in knowing what to expect. Note: we stayed in 2 standard double rooms with private bathrooms

Yelp
Terrible customer service. The lead manager Liia Sulomägi is rude and unhelpful. No check in instructions. Bathroom is NOT in the room even though they call themselves a hotel. You gotta make sure you pay extra 800 swedish kron for a bathroom in your room! Photos do not correspond to the actual rooms

Yelp
This hotel/hostel/inn is all about the location. Let me set this straight, if you are someone who likes to hang out at the hotel, sleep in, and relax, go stay somewhere else. This is a perfect place to stay if you are an out and about tourist. Right in the heart of old town and an easy t-bana ride or walk to the rest of the city, the location is prime. The rooms are basic and tiny. As stated on their website, bathrooms are shared. However they were very private. This is not like a dorm. The shower and toilet stalls are completely enclosed and lockable from the rest. Like others have said, front desk isn't very helpful, and don't both paying for their breakfast unless your desperate. It's cheaper if you walk 2 blocks to the 7 eleven if you really want cheap. They are very strict about their hours so make sure you check in before 10pm and never forget your key!

Yelp
I forgot my toothbrush, or thought I had and I they had one to give me. This amazing service was typical for this inn. If you don't mind the shared restroom (among 4-5 rooms in our portion of the inn) and showers, you'll do fine. Shower facilities are private, there's about 3-4 shower rooms in a larger washroom past the reception area. Comfortable room, big enough bed, cozy linens. Adequate light sources, outlets, and ability to block enough of that midnight midsummer sun when you need z's. Entrance to the inn is a two step process, good security as it's a shared building. You ring buzzers, one outside and one inside. A nice pastry on arrival, first one was free, you can buy a small selection of breads, beverages for breakfast. Coffee and tea, free I think. A selection of fruit was free too, very appreciated. They don't have a continental breakfast, but you can get 10% off a a restaurant down the way (along the water). Location: Five stars for sure, right in Gamla Stan which is the Old town area of Stockholm. More restaurants, shops (souvenir, clothing, etc) than you can imagine. Cobblestones prevalent, bring comfortable, read: practical, shoes. Near Sodermalm, if you wish to explore there. It's where you can get a Larsson (those dragon tattoo books) tour. Easy 3/4 mile-ish walk to the downtown train station. Plenty of old gorgeous buildings, and a few modern ones too. Watch for cyclists if you're a pedestrian or a driver, don't walk or step into the bike lane, god forbid.

Yelp
Let us get it right - right from the beginning; this place has nothing to do with castle and royalty. It´s not even an inn or a hotel. It is a hostel driven by pure speculation. As soon as you have paid the bill at the counter at your arrival you can be quite sure you won´t see much of a staff at your service. And if you do they are on their defense, in case you ask for something. Like me, I needed a light bulb to be changed. There was no light in the room. Not to mention when I got the water tap in my hands. Then we have the story with the roller blind. A new experience. It did not go all the way down. This opened up for the neighbors across the street to look straight into my bed, as it was placed right up to the window and could not be moved. The room was too small. I paid 1.250 Swedish Crowns for this mess - break-first not included. Friends, avoid this unfriendly, expensive place.

Yelp
Great location in Old Town. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. 2 problems: 1. Bathrooms are down the hall 2. No Drinking (or eating or smoking) allowed in the rooms. We happened to be walking up the stairs holding bags of beer cans, and the person at the front desk saw us and informed us that we are forbidden to drink anything in the rooms. I am under the impression they have had problems with rowdy guests, but still, have you ever been told you can't drink in tour own room (as an adult)? For that reason, I would not stay here again.

Yelp
We had a great stay at the Castle House Inn. This was one of our favorite accommodations during our 3.5 week vacation in Scandinavia. The inn was conveniently located in the heart of Gamla Stan. Good sized room, spotless bathrooms. Unlike other places with shared bathrooms, we never had to wait so the bathroom to guest ratio must have been appropriate. The bathrooms were also always very clean. The placement of hooks and toilet paper dispensers in the bathroom was strange and mostly inconvenient, but that was our only critique. Overall, a great value in Gamla Stan.
