Your stay at Castle La Crosse Bead & Breakfast is a magical experience. From the moment you pull up, you are immersed in another world. As you unload your luggage, there is the sound of a trickling fountain gurgling near you - it's so serene, it sets the stage. You enter the castle as special guests would have long ago, through the side door - greeted by one of the owners (we met Brandon). Once through the door, you are transported to an amazing feast for the senses. The mood is like that at a spa - the lights are low, as if the lamps were still gas, there is subtle, light music playing from . . . somewhwere. The main hall gives a glimps into the other rooms on the main floor with decor takes you back to another time. Beautiful, polished wood, upholstered furniture, and treasures from world travels adorn every surface, nook and cranny, without feeling overdone. Shoes off are a must, then you are guided up the grand main staircase to the second level where the guest rooms are located. My husband and I stayed in the Maple Room, and every detail from floor to ceiling was meticulously attended to - from the glasses and carafe of water (and surprise treat) on the dresser, to the cozy throw and pillows in the window seat, to the sumptuous bath robes in the elegant bathroom. The natural light, views of the historic neighborhood and spaciousness of the room took our breath away. The linnens and bedding were so soft and fresh. This was truly a magical place - and we'd only really been in our room! We stayed two nights, and wish we could have stayed longer. The pictures on their website of all the rooms in the castle are wonderful, so definitely check those out. I did include photos of our two fabulous breakfasts - crafted by Brandon! I'm a picky eater, and I ate everything! It was amazing - so fresh and light, but hearty at the same time. There were several couples staying the weekend, and we had the privilage to be served upstairs in the little turret room - so cozy and romantic! Tom, Brandon's dad made several trips upstairs to bring our food, check on us, and clear the service when we were through. Incredible. By the way, we only got to chat with Brandon a little bit when we arrived, but he is a cool guy and a gracious host. We talked several times with Tom, and he had quite the knack for engaging with us in a short chat, then almost floating away to let us enjoy the peacefulness of the house. Thanks Tom! Oh, I must add that the home is spotless and fresh. I was so impressed that every corner, and surface was extremely clean and dust-free. Wow! So, if you hadn't surmised, we highly recommend staying at Castle La Crosse. I could go on for days, but you'll have to come discover for yourself just how special it is.
