Castle Maraval

The most wonderful stay we had this summer, and frankly in ages. The Chateau is extremely beautiful, the amenities wonderful and the garden amazing, but all that you can find in other spots. What stood out was how WELCOME Laurie and her colleagues made us feel. She had spottet it was my husband's 50th birthday, called us up and asked if we needed a dinner reservation (we did, we're terrible planners!), surprised us with her signature cocktail (amazing! Highly recommend!) and in general just made us feel so happy and at ease. And not in a weirdo White Lotus kiss-your-butt way! It was genuine kindness, her delight and pride in her hotel is contagious. It's a pleasure to be with someone so in her element. I want to recommend this to everyone, I will come back with my parents, but I also kind of want to keep this secret a little longer, so I can get a room in the future.

Our stay at the château has been nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with a beautifully handwritten note in our room, accompanied by fine chocolates and fresh-cut flowers from the on-site garden—an immediate sign of the care and attention to detail that defines every aspect of this place. The staff’s dedication to excellence is impeccable. Every element, from the pristine bathrooms and thoughtfully arranged closets to the luxurious comfort of the pillows and bedding, has been curated with precision and genuine hospitality. You can feel the love and pride that goes into every corner of this property. In fact, our experience was so spectacular that we decided to extend our stay—something we rarely do, but simply couldn’t resist. It truly felt like a dream, and we weren’t ready to leave. It is rare to find a place where every detail feels so personally and perfectly attended to. I cannot possibly give a higher recommendation. This château is a true gem.

What an amazing stay! The property is gorgeous and so thoughtfully decorated. But what really makes the stay exceptional is the team. Laurie was incredibly of the property and region, and her assistant Dorian was also absolutely lovely— the coordinated delicious dinners for us every night, suggested what to see, and even picked us up at the end of a long walk along the river (highly suggest- walk towards Domme, across the river, follow river path to Roque, continue to Castelnaud, continue on the path to Beynac!). We can’t wait to come back!

Nothing too much trouble, Lorrie was wonderfully welcoming and professional and our short stay was perfect. All other staff members lovely too, Wesam a real asset. Peaceful and pretty location (beautiful birdsong!) great breakfast, lovely room, wonderfully comfortable. Thank you!

The garden and pool area were perfect for relaxation, offering a peaceful escape in a beautiful setting. The location itself is ideal, with easy access to many charming towns and villages, as well as plenty of fun activities nearby.||I highly recommend Château De Maraval for anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing getaway. Laurie dedicated more than a year to researching the story of the place, diving into historical archives to uncover its fascinating past, which she shared with us during our stay. Perfectly located near the best towns in the region, Château Maraval is a haven of tranquility. The stars at night are breathtaking, and the serene forest brings deer right to your view as you enjoy breakfast. Laurie and Dorian truly made our anniversary unforgettable by filling the room with roses and helping us secure reservations at top spots. Château Maraval is not just a stay; it’s an extraordinary experience of history, beauty, and unmatched hospitality. Highly recommend!

The Chateau de Maraval is a beautifully restored historic chateau. Our room was bright and modern, looking out over the magnificent grounds. The bathroom was well equipped, including a walk in shower. Behind the hotel there's a gorgeous, heated outdoor pool. Breakfast was excellent. On the front desk Laurie was ever obliging and a fund of information on the locality. She sent us to some of the best restaurants we've ever been to in France. The hotel is situated in a beautiful part of Dordogne and is a great touring base. We'll be back next year!!
