"Wallonia Belgium's Most Famous Castle With hundreds of castles and chateaux in Belgium, open to the public, it's hard to know which ones to visit. The castle of Freÿr, in Wallonia, is a great place to start. This grand building has remained in the same family for 20 generations and one wing is still home to the current owners. Exploring the interior of the castle is a must, as you'll be visiting some of the same rooms as Louis XIV and the Archduchess Maria-Christina. The best place to take in the scope of the castle and its grand formal gardens, however, is across the river. You'll need a good GPS or map to find the 2 unmarked lookout points. You'll be rewarded for your diligence by this spectacular view."

This castle is unique because you actually get to walk through all of the rooms and really feel what it was like to live in the house. But honestly the best part is the gardens they are so beautiful and the mazes are cool to wonder around. Also great for those instagramable pictures would definitely recommend paying visit

Give yourself time to walk the grounds and the house. Beautiful vast ornate gardens, the hedge rows cut into what looks like a geometric maze is a wonder. The house is full of furniture and fixtures, with original art works on the walls. The views from the house and garden on to the white cliff escarpments running the length of the property, is worth it in itself

Beautiful, tranquil gardens and interesting house. A warm, welcome from the very friendly and helpful young man at reception. Download the audio guide (available in several languages) or read the info cards in each room for a self guided tour. Great views of the rocks across the river and the climbers tackling them. The weather was good so we stayed for almost 3 hours.

Absolutely beautiful castle; a must-see when interested in history, architecture and landscaping. We drove up to the castle on a beautiful tree-lined lane. Parking was easy. We were welcomed by a most friendly lady who explained everything before we started the tour. Both the house and the garden are stunning; and obviously beautifully located next to the river.

Beautiful stately old castle. Great place for a visit and the grounds were beautiful! And as a bonus, there is a grand piano in one of the rooms that they encourage anyone who can play, to feel free to do so. So we were treated to some magnificent music! Delightful!

Cool place to see if you’re driving by. It was closed during our visit. The river and surrounding area is very scenic.

Very nice castle, not so impressive as others in Belgium, but well maintained and managed. The gardens are also very nice and the overall visit takes around 1 hour. There is a large parking lot inside the domain's walls.

One of the most beautiful castles. Very well preserved rooms. Majestic gardens with very old exotic trees. Really worth the visit!
