I had a pleasant stay. Beautiful interiors and attention to detail. The staff were majority nice.
However, i had 3 meals at Bistro Richard. 2 dinner and 1 breakfast. The breakfast was ok... the waitors seemed overworked and for €30 per person, plus when paying the rates for the rooms it seemed a little expensive.
Dinner, I will say they might need better training in customer service. I ordered a steak where i had to spit out multiple pieces due to it being tough and full of sinue/silverskin. I noticed other customers that ordered the steak also struggled to cut and had to use a lot of strength to slice it. I told the waitress this who apologised and then took our dessert order and nothing else. The next day at check out I also told the receptionist as I felt they should know, who also just apolpgised and said nothing.
It is a beautiful castle, and feels luxurious at times... but i would say if it were any more expensive I would have felt a bit cheated!
I was in a suite room in the main castle which was okay, however the door opened up to the bed so it meant when there are children screaming in the corridor at 7am, they will wake you up.
So overall id give it 6/10 at best. Beautiful, but the actual experience of being a guest could be improved.
