This is a lovely old building and in a perfect location. The self check in was simple and the room and bed was clean and comfortable with tea and coffee facilities. The garden area was nice to sit out in and there is a lovely fish pond. |Breakfast is not available.

We arrived on Friday 7th Feb for a two night stay to find the place had been taken over by a film crew The owner was there and it took him ages to find our booking and which room we were staying in The room was nice and had been renovated The rest of the hotel was tatty and in need of repair The film crew were filming till late on the Friday night and returned early on the Saturday morning So we didn’t get much rest The film crew equipment was left out in the hotel so it was very untidy and looked a fire risk

Excellent choice and very good value for money. We stayed here with friends after a family event (also held at Woodfield House which was very well organised by the hotel). Both rooms were lovely, spacious and clean. The hotel is very old and accordingly, sympathetically decorated. Easy access via a key box. Parking is literally just across the road and not expensive. Views of the castle while having a huge breakfast was included in the room rate. My husband said the garden was lovely too.

The room was spacious, very clean and had everything I could have wanted. It could do with a spot of maintenance but nothing too bad. |The breakfast was amazing and was cooked and served by a lovely lady who couldn’t do enough for you. |The location could not have been better, next to a convenient car park, near the town and an excellent pub. But best of all, opposite the castle. |I would happily stay here and again!|

This is not a b&b!!!|No staff onsite, no breakfast, rooms accessed via codes sent remotely by owners.|Dirty, smells of sewerage, holes in the bedding, disgusting bathroom. No blinds at the windows, threadbare carpets, no WiFi & noisy neighbours revelling all night. This might have been avoided had there been staff on site. When I messaged to ask about the WiFi no one bothered to answer.|Garden full of broken furniture. Can't believe more people haven't complained!

I was told I would receive a door code via text on the morning of check-in and would find my room keys (we booked 3 rooms) awaiting collection once inside. I received the code bright and early and the keys were located as per communication. All the rooms we had were a good size, they have double beds, ensuite (Towels provided), a TV, Teas and coffees (with a kettle) and a hairdryer. |At breakfast there is a selection of cereal, tea / coffee, orange juice, pastries, yoghurt, fruit and full English / vegetarian options - all of which were very nice!! |The location is brilliant, opposite a car park and the castle! 30 seconds walk to a lovely pub, 5 minutes walk (if that) into town where you have pubs, restaurants, shops and a supermarket. We stayed 2 nights and went to the races which was a 30 minute walk (or 5 minute taxi ride). |Would definitely stay again if we revisit Chepstow - good value for money.

Hotel was overpriced for the standard it offered. |Received a text early in the day stating I would receive an entry code after the check in time, never received the second text so had to call. Found the room in the garden, took me 40 minutes to get the key to actually open the door. (Room 11) annex in the garden. |Breakfast was nice, freshly cooked and very enjoyable. Room was ok, if a little tired. For the price I expected a better stay.

Wonderful location, great room and fab breakfast. Very comfortable room. Breakfast cooked fresh to order, great service, and right next to the castle and river. I will definitely stay here again. Perfect for a short break.

Stayed here to greet my friends returning from their epic walk along Offa's Dyke. It was a last minute booking, and they were helpful and booked me in easily, with just a name and phone number required "as it was a late booking". The room had everything it needed, we actually had a family room, so it had a couple of beds surplus to our requirements. The room was slightly quirky... the whole floor on a slant, so I felt like I was tipped up when lying in bed. The mattress was well worn, you could feel the springs, and it had definite dents where previous occupants had sat on the side of the bed - I felt like I was going to roll out in the night!!! The bathroom had an equally uneven floor, and the shower was under the eaves, meaning anyone over 5'7" would struggle to get their head under the water! The shower pressure and temperature were great though. Breakfast is included in the price. But is disappointingly only served between 8am and 9am - even on a Sunday! Service was hit and miss, we had to ask for bowls for our cereal, and sauces for our cooked breakfast. Tea for hangover-sufferers should have been a bit more forthcoming too - but I guess that they didn't appreciate us coming to breakfast at 8.55am! Overall - did the job for somewhere to stay in Chepstow, great view of the castle, but breakfast hours and old mattress let it down. Parking is available in the public carpark for the castle opposite. and is free after 5pm Mon-Sat and all day Sunday.
