We recently endured a night at this hotel. We were given a number code to enter the main door and key box number to get the key to our room. No one to greet us upon arrival. We walked into the room to the right and tried to find the key box. Nowhere to be found. Next challenge was to find the room. Not clearly visible. We eventually found the door marked rooms 12-14. We were given room 12. It was down a garden path to a single skinned building. In entering the room we noticed how cold it was and radiators were stone cold. It was 4degrees outside. The quilt was thin, so we duly phoned the owners, who said the heating didn’t come on until 4.30pm but said they would bring us an electric heater and a throw for the bed. We went out for dinner and on our return, the room was only lukewarm. There were stains on the carpet, mould in the bathroom, daylight around the fire exit/ main door of the room, and remote control back was missing. We did have tea and coffee making facilities, nowhere near a socket, but no teaspoons to stir tea with. Got into bed and the mattress was that uncomfortable, you could feel all the springs, and felt bruised the next morning. At 8am the heating still hadn’t come on, so we went to breakfast in a cold room with a small fan heater. We were offered a full English, scrambled or poached eggs on toast., two types of cereal. Luckily we were given our breakfast before a dog came in to the dining room. The young waitress gave the dog treats and then went and got more plates of food. Were hands washed? The whole place is worn out and filthy. We decided not to stay for the second night and drove home. When we asked for a refund, we were told it was a 24 hour cancellation policy as in their terms and conditions, which we never received or told about. |It seems to us that it is profit before customer satisfaction. |We will not be returning.
