Castlemaine Colonial Motel

Great location, within walking distance to the main part of town. Clean, tidy room, comfy bed, blockout blinds, nice toiletries. Minor thing was that we stayed for two nights and only had enough milk for one day. Great little cafe, ‘Blackbird’, for breakfast just up the road.

Stayed 2 nights. Toilet flush needed special procedure. Reading light above seating area didn’t work. Asked for light to be fixed. Didn’t happen. Room service equals new towels nothing else. General maintenance Extremely poor.

The good parts first - great location close to town centre. The room was clean and bright. The bed comfortable. The bathroom had been renovated and the shower was great. The staff were friendly and courteous. The other parts, and this was a big one for us - The toilet didn't flush! The young lady in reception couldn't get it to work but assured us that someone would look at it while we were out. We returned around 10pm and it hadn't been fixed. We made a phone call and another staff member arrived. Of course she was able to get it to flush and told us what to do. Unfortunately we were not able to get it to flush again. Very frustrating and stressful. The other minor negative was no milk in the fridge which we didn't realise until we returned at night. Disappointing as we would have returned to this motel in the future but not unless the toilet issues are fixed!

Cancelled my booking without notice. Upon arrival they said "these things happen". Left my family unable to find accommodation for the Easter weekend. They said the normal process is for them to take payment info before confirming, but the person making the reservation neglected to do that or inform me, so it was cancelled without telling me. Desk staff were indifferent to the issue, but tried to make make arrangements. Unfortunately there was nothing suitable left. If you book with them, do it through Booking.com to reduce the risk of them losing your booking.

I repeat....Do not EVER stay at the Colonial Hotel in Castlemaine...staff are unbelievably rude. They give a new experience to negative hospitality and how to destroy a business in a beautiful tourist destination and are also liars. The owner needs to sack the manager urgently. Tariff is advertised as including breakfast, but it does not advise that if you dont confirm breakfast by 6pm you will be yelled at like a 2 year old and told "YOU WONT BE GETTING ANY BREAKFAST!!"....even though its included in what you pay. Staff are foul...rooms very ordinary. Never stay at this place.

Ifind the staff very friendly and the chidren well mannered.in regards to the apartments and units were immaculate heaps of clean towels and close to the city centre very modern.can not fault the facility I've been twice .will be coming back.perfect host .and staff are delightfully.24.04.25.

Stayed Saturday 15th November. Room 7 was comfortable and clean. Spacious Bathroom recently renovated. Fresh Towels.Fridge with Milk. Kettle, tea, coffee and crockery. Sharon at reception was very helpful and friendly. Great recommendations for dinner at the railway Hotel and delicious Breakfast at the Kaffeehaus.
