Sarah the hostess was very friendly and helpful. The bartender Jay was attentive, kind and made my experience a positive one. The food was light, quickly made and very tasty. I will surely be back!

The food have a good flavor but it was a little salty for my taste. I ordered a Chicken with lemon and cilantro. My server was nice and friendly.

Second time here and really love the energy and the food. Brian was a really attentive server and made great recommendations, including the lychee martini, which we loved. Recommend the oxtail empanadas and the baby pernil. Really, you can’t go wrong with whatever you get though.

Casual Habana Café never disappoints! My husband loved the fried shredded pork, I had the beef short ribs for the second time (so good I had to repeat), and my friend’s baby pernil was phenomenal—i took one bite and know I know I’ll be ordering that next time! Tostones we're fried to perfection. A juicy strong pitcher of sangria topped it all off. Can’t wait to return and repeat!

The restaurant is excellent and quaint. We were surprised by the name, as we had anticipated something more casual, but it is far from it. I recommend trying the tapas datiles rellonos and a special drinks .

Food and drinks are always so yummy! Brian has been our favorite server so far, super quick + personable. We had a great time during happy hour, which has some great discounted food/drink… 10/10 would recommend!

I recently dined at Casual Habana Cafe with my husband and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant’s new look is beautiful and very inviting. Manuela was our server, and she was excellent. She recommended the Corvina Guayabera, which was absolutely delicious. Her attentiveness and warm demeanor made our evening even more enjoyable. We will definitely be returning.

My favorite restaurant in New Jersey. Incredible system for entree, with each coming with 2 sides - each of which will be amazing. The yellow rice, black beans, and yuca fries are all fantastic. If there is one thing you cannot miss it's the sweet plantains - they always transport me to a new realm of flavor and enjoyment. I always make sure to get the churrasco con chimichurri which is phenomenal, but it is the sides that steal the show for me. The interior is nice, spacious and the easy to speak with those you sit with. Overall 10/10 restaurant.

I ordered delivery for a-skirt steak medium rare and what I got was .. paper thin, well done, chewed up by dogs which looks like it was pulled out of a trash can from someone that did not finish eating it. I contacted the manager and the manager said "if you drive to us and bring us the food we can give you another order" So I should drive to you for an order you messed up and that was probably re-plated (garbage dish) for another re-plated dish that will probably be out of the trash and reserved? Do NOT go here !!!! They will serve you food out the trash!!! Quality of food may be dangerous.. do not risk it.

This place makes the best ropa vieja in the area. I eat this staple of Cuban cuisine everywhere they serve it and this place is my favorite. The chef does a beautiful job of plating. He serves a nice amount of food and makes everything look so tasty. Excellent salad and the ambiance is great, with groups of people enjoying themselves every time I go there.

Great food at a great price point. There was something for everyone. The sangria is a steal and very strong. Been here a few times already and will be back again. Went 5:30pm on a Wednesday with the kids and while we made reservations, they were not needed.

Make sure you pull up a chair at the tavern section for discounted drinks and appetizers. The drinks were very sweet and refreshing. Just don't drink too many as they'll hit you when you least expect it! The appetizers are also fantastic. The dates were wrapped in a bacon strip and filled with goat cheese. The empanadas were also packed with beef, chicken, and manchego & spinach. Although none the main entrees are not included on the Happy Hour menu, you'll still be satisfied otherwise. The pork and shredded beef are perfectly seasoned and tender and there are a unique variety of sides to choose. If you want a variation of plantains and mashed potatoes, you won't go wrong with the crispy tostades and yuca. This was definitely a fantastic experience having Cuban cuisine, especially during Happy Hour. Food is legit yummy! We had a couple of Cuban places near me in Washington Heights while growing up and Casual Habana measure up for sure. I have gotten the oxtail stew and fried pork lechon twice already and it never disappoints. Drinks are also potent but not alcohol heavy...Just perfect all around. Living in California, you can only have so much "Mexican food" which is the least favorite of my "Hispanic food". BTW their Cuban sandwich is spectacular and brings me back to my youth. Ambiance is nice, cozy and intimate. This last time we went it was crowded which is nice to see. Weird L shape but I am no architect and food and service are my primary criteria. Service is awesome, I always seem to get the same server who is on the tall side with fade. He does a great job of recommendations, service and touch points. Well worth going to if you are looking for yummy Cuban food.

Food was very good although the ox tail was named robo Diablo so I took it as if it would be spicy but it wasn't-the meat could've been a bit softer -but with all that it was still a good meal. We had a pleasant server very attentive so that was a plus. Drinks I had a lychee martini I have had better. Good Latin music which I enjoyed. Look forward to going back for more comfort food .

This Cuban restaurant is a local gem in the tiny town of New Milford. I highly recommend their Happy Hour! It's ALL DAY on Sunday-Thurs (closed Mondays). On Fridays and Saturdays it's from 12-6 and 9-close. Yummy bites + heavy handed bartenders + reasonable prices? Now that's why it's called HAPPY hour. I'm obsessed with the margaritas and mojitos. My go-to bites are the empanadas ($1.50 each). They're freshly made and absolutely delicious. I've also had dinner here a few times with friends. Food and service are consistently good. Prices are fair for the quality and portions. My favorite dishes are ropa vieja, rabo encendido, and bistec de palomilla- if you like steak or oxtail you might enjoy these. I always get a side of maduros (sweet plantains) and arroz amarillo (yellow rice). While you enjoy your food, you can also enjoy their fantastic music. Salsa and merengue, babyyy!!! No dancing though. The restaurant has an antique vibe to it because it used to be a boutique hotel. On the weekends they get super busy so you might have to wait for a table. Oh yeah... don't bother with the valet parking in their teeny tiny lot. You can just find parking on the street.

Not a good as the last time. Shared two orders of empanadas. Flavorful but was a bit mushy. Shared a Cuban which was on the dry side and could have used a bit of a "burn" on the bread. Great service and atmosphere.

Great Cuban food in North Jersey is not easy to find, a lot of restaurants are more about the experience than the food. However, Casual Habana Cafe has outstanding food of great quality and has a very fun vibe in terms of the ambiance. The restaurant is deceivingly big so there is rarely a long wait even when there's a lot of people there and the staff is very welcoming and friendly in my experience. The drink menu is vast and they are very tasty (I had one that was heavy on the pour but that hasn't happened since). The food is delicious, of great quality, and expertly made. I've had several things but what I recommend the most is the mango habanero wings, the spinach and cheese empanadas, and the ropa vieja; but my husband swears by the churrasco con chimichurri. I have never had a dish I did not like at Casual Habana Cafe, I highly recommend!

First time ordering here... Service was fast My husband and I did : 2 big chicken soups and 1 papitas rellenas Chicken soup had a lot of great ingredients ( potatoes, chicken chunks, carrots, celery, etc) and was good; homemade style! Papitas rellenas ( beef) were delicious!!! We need comfort foot because he had a surgery this week and I started with bronchitis. So this kind of food will help us recovering

One star is generous. To the people leaving good reviews, I feel sorry for you. WHAT are you used to eating that you think this place is even slightly ok?! Burger King is a better option and it's just down the road. I gave this place a second chance... BIG MISTAKE!! There is NO WAY they have a Cuban or anyone with ANY idea of how to cook Cuban food working in the kitchen. Clearly NO ONE is quality testing/tasting anything either. Please, someone google "sofrito" and learn how to use it! Moros...BLAND! Basically, black steamed rice--NO flavor. Masitas...TOUGH, swimming in water, ZERO mojo Yuca...TOUGH, lacking flavor (hint...you need to SALT the water when you boil it AND boil it until it's fully cooked). Again, ZERO mojo...just flavorless and nasty! I threw it in the trash after one bite. Cuban sandwich...let's just say you should be ashamed of yourselves passing that on as a Cuban sandwich. GAR-BAGE! Guayaba ribs... WOW! BLAND and such loose "sauce." Seemed like they put water in a BBQ bottle to stretch it and poured it over boiled ribs. Complete SH- -! Never again will I waste $$$ on this expensive, inauthentic, garbage excuse for Cuban food again. Dear "chefs," you would benefit from a trip to Union City (some place like El Unico de Elena) to learn how to cook this cuisine properly. Or maybe just You Tube it. Seriously, don't waste your money, don't offend your tastebuds, and don't offend your wallet by going here! You will absolutely be disappointed if you're looking for Cuban food. If you're looking for bland food, this is your place!

Overall Thoughts: This is a spacious, beautifully decorated restaurant serving up a varied selection of traditional Cuban dishes and quick, friendly service. The dishes were full of flavor and the one cocktail I tried was delicious. Note there's a3.5% surcharge on credit cards. Food I tried: - Oxtail Empanadas (4.5/5): This was good, with a super crispy exterior stuffed with flavorful, tender oxtail filling. Each order comes with 3 empanadas, but unfortunately you can only get one type of filling type. - Pulpo a la Plancha (seared octopus w/ twice-fried plantains) (4.3/5): The octopus was chewy on the inside, crispy/charred on the outside, and had good flavor. The fried plantain chips were pretty good but could've been crispier. - Rabo Encendido (slow braised ox tail) (4.2/5): This was good and flavorful, but pretty hard to chew with all the tough cartilage and bones. - Arroz Frito con Aguacate (cuban fried rice with chicken) (4.6/5): The fried rice was delicious, full of flavor, and the guac on top added a nice creamy kick of salty flavor. The chicken was extra $ but I wouldn't get it in the future because it was a bit overcooked. - Ropa Vieja (4.5/5): A classic, this dish had good flavor and pairs well with the dirty rice and beans. - Yuca con mojo (4.2/5): This side of steamed yuccas was buttery and mild in flavor. It was a good palate cleanser in-between bites. - Lechon Asado (4.3/5): This dish was good and had great flavors, but the meat was a bit dry. - Habana Spice cocktail (4.8/5): This drink was sweet, spiced, and really delicious. All the drinks on the menu looked delicious and creative, and I'd be interested in trying more! - Flan de la abuela caridad (Traditional cuban creme caramel abuela's recipe) (4/5): This flan was quite sweet, creamy, and eggy in flavor. It was good, but maybe wouldn't be my dessert of choice next time around. -- Price (relative to peers): 4.2/5 Food: 4.4/5 Ambience: 4.8/5 Service: 5/5 Overall Value: 4.5/5

Coming from a part Cuban the food was pretty good for Jersey. I would definitely go back. My husband who is also a picky eater enjoyed his meal. I'm deducting 1 star for the unnecessary valet parking. The place should really be self park.

Vibe was top tier ! Happy hour all day as long as you sit at the bar ! Wait staff is a mix of men and women ! Bartender was amazing , we had everything in the happy hour menu except the chicharrón and lollipop chicken . We tried a mango margarita and passion fruit mojito ! 2 people - 7 items , we spent 53.90 , there's a 3.5% charge if you use your credit card . Street paid parking in the area !

Just had a couples dinner with friends at the Casual Habana Cafe. We were able to call ahead and put our names on the list, that helped save some waiting on a Saturday night. The place was packed and as soon as we started eating, we knew why. The lighting and ambience were nice. Our waitress was very friendly (recent arrival from Ukraine) and made excellent recommendations. Their menu is a lot of fun, the appetizers/tapas section is reasonable priced and allows diners to get an array of flavors to start. We shared oxtail empanadas, manchego spinach empanadas, grilled octopus, and guacamole and gluten free chips. Once we got started, I knew that we would want more, so we added sausage and onions and the fried cheese with papaya and bacon. The empanadas were great, the grilled octopus texture was perfect and it had a great sauce, the sausage and onions worked perfectly together. The fried cheese with papaya and bacon gets it's own sentence, that is an appetizer that is hard to beat, the fried cheese is fried cheese, already pretty great but once you add the papaya jelly with bacon, it went to a whole other level. Truly a must have. The menu continues to impress with approximately 20-25 entrees, each of which sounded like a great choice. My wife enjoyed her ropa vieja, I enjoyed finishing it, what a great flavorful sauce. My friend got one of the bigger seafood paellas I've seen and enjoyed it as well. My friend's wife was happy with her roast pork dish. I really enjoyed the roast pork as well, mine was served with red onions and a savory sauce. The yellow rice and black bean sides were great as well. Really good portions of everything! The dessert list was too good to pass up. My friend's wife got chocolate ice cream. My wife enjoyed an artfully prepared decaf cappuccino. My friend enjoyed an espresso. My friend and I shared rice pudding, tres leches cake, and flan. The rice pudding was quality, not at all mushy each rice grain was cooked right. The flan and tres leches cake dueled it out for top dessert honors. It's the next day and I still can't decide which was better. What I can decide however is that Casual Habana Cafe will be a place that we return to soon.

I came here last night with my boyfriends family for his moms birthday dinner and overall it was a good experience. The place itself is pretty nice nothing super fancy, the ambiance is chill there is some Latino music playing but not super loud. When we arrived we had to wait by the bar because the rest of our group was missing. I ordered a classic patron Margarita by the bar and it was pretty good! I could definitely taste the alcohol and lime juice. To start off we had the chicken empanadas. They were good but extremely small like extremely. I got the ropa vieja with yellow rice and tostones. The food itself is pretty good! Each entree brings two side for some reason tostones are considered a premium side and are $3 extra. My bf had the paella and he liked it. I tried the mussels and clams they were good. For my bfs moms birthday we requested a flan and they brought it out with a candle which was sweet. We continued to order margaritas at our table and they were inconsistent with what we had at the bar. My first margarita was a lot better than my second. To give you an idea about price we had a group of 9 (2 kids included) and our bill came out to a little over $500 we all got entrees, multiple drinks, and a couple desserts. I would return here for a chill casual dinner.

This restaurant is the best Cuban food I've ever had in my life. I tried every dish on the menu - everything is pretty awesome! My favorite is ceviche dorado and Yuka frita! All empanadas are great. Baby pernil and churasko is to die for. I love you guys and thank you for being awesome!

The beautiful interior, the music, the food all comes together for a wonderful Cuban dining experience. We went on a Friday lunch when restaurant was all empty. I liked the red flowery wallpapers with some soothing music in the background. They have nice bar in the middle. Food wise we had a nice dine in. The grilled octopus was good but little burned around the tail. The tapas empanadas were decent. I got the oxtail for entree. It was a pretty dish, but really hard to eat around the bones. I'd have like the dish to be either on spicier or sweeter side. It was too neutral. Their paella is also a good dish. The steak is not the best, I found it dry. Overall a nice location to enjoy some Cuban atmosphere with drinks and food.

We had grilled octopus, empanadas (chicken, beef, oxtail), steak w fries, oxtail stew. I like pretty much everything but the steak. I should have ordered a skirt steak instead. Oxtail empanada is very good!

It's almost like home cooking, just like what grandma used to make. I have never had a bad meal at casual Habana Café.

Causal Habana is always a gem. The restaurant is spacious, has a full bar, and a nicely decorated outdoor seating area. When arriving, be aware that they offer free valet parking, a nice touch on crowded days. Also be aware, that if you pay with a credit card, they will add 3.5% to the bill total. Our server, Valentina, was wonderful. She was cordial, checking on us at the perfect cadence, and bringing our to-go order right as we were presented with the check. My Coconut Mojito was made to perfection and the presentation was nice, as well. The Yuca (cassava) Frita appetizer was very good. The dipping sauce was exquisite and the yuca was nice and hot. The Pollo a la Plancha (Grilled Chicken), with Moro Rice, and Maduros (sweet plantains) is my favorite meal of any cuisine (read my profile). The Avocado Salad, which included onions and mango, was large and had the perfect amount of dressing. For dessert, I had a Cortadito (an espresso shot with milk). I've had thousands of these, but this one was top three......ever. Try it! I cannot recommend Causal Habana enough. Remember this review, when you're enjoying a memorable meal with stellar service.

I've never had anything bad to say about them. The food is amazing but when I just spent 14 dollars on grilled vegetable and you legit get half a bell pepper 3 pieces of squash and zucchini in a glaze. Which I did not even get.

Casual Habana came highly recommended from a friend who lives nearby. Decided to order some takeout while in the neighborhood. I ordered one of my favorites, oxtail (rabo encendido) and my husband ordered the baby pernil. We got fries, sweet plantains, and moro as our sides. The fries were piping hot when I picked the food up and we housed them on our car ride home. They were some of the best fries I've had in recent memory. The oxtail meat fell right off the bone and the leftover sauce I poured over the rice - so delicious and savory. Perfect sweet plantains. The baby pernil was also great and came with a Caribbean mash. Nice portion sizes, we had some leftovers. We plan to come back for in person dining at some point. It was not busy yet on a weeknight around 5:30-6pm. My food was ready a little sooner than estimated.

I have just started visiting Casual Habana Cafe. However, in the short time, the food service and ambience has proven so wonderful that I returned three times within a month. Each time I have brought a long friends and family that I was eager to share my new fine with. And we all wholeheartedly agree that Casual Habana Cafe is our new favorite spot. They check off the list of excellent food service and a casual ambience so it is a resounding yes yes and yes that they deserve five stars!

Everything I ordered was A-Mazing! The Plantain Chips was legit crisp! with a side of guac. What I like to do sometimes is heat some dry spice and throw in a little heat. The Chicharron was ALSO crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Some places tend to get the skin all chewy where you have to naw on it! This place knows NOT to do that. All about the little details. The Ox tail with yellow rice and sweet plantains was definitely my jam. Wishing it was a bit more or an additional piece. That's just me being a fatty though. Overall I had a great experience! Will definitely order from here again!

Love this place for get togethers with friends from work. Happy hour is great. The figs wrapped in bacon are the best. The Mojitos are delicious. Come sit at the bar for happy hour. Great deal.

This spot is pretty great if you are looking for a more authentic non-gimmicky chain like Cuban Pete's or Noches de Colombia. This location is a little smaller but definitely has great attentive service and tasty dishes. I've tried everything from the fried pork to the maduros, rice and beans, sandwiches, empanadas and everything was really good. The food can be a bit heavy but it is Cuban food. I wish some of the dishes would come with more sauces or toppings and the portions aren't what I am used to if comparing to other latin cuisines. Portions are definitely on the smaller side so be sure to order your own entrees and supplement with sides and appetizers.

The food here is absolutely TO DIE FOR. Great service, and amazing ambiance. Very nicely decorated and it feels cozy. The drinks were also so so good. Will be back soon!

We have been coming here for years and the food is just amazing. Favorite dish is the Baby Pernil. Today, enjoying their Fall Sangria. Awesome!

Food was decent. Service was horrible. Server should understand that when offering something extra to mention how much extra. Charged 4 dollars extra for avocado on a free small house salad. Ambiance is good.i wouldn't come back to be honest.

Cute little spot and excellent food. Came with a small group for lunch. They have a small patio, which is nice in the warmer weather. The sangria is very good and not overly sweet. I had the Arroz Frito Con Aguacate with shrimp. It's very flavorful and a substantial portion. Everyone loved their meals. Plan to come back.

Got takeout tonight and the food was mostly very good. I got a coconut shrimp appetizer, chorizo salteado, baby back ribs, and braised oxtails. My favorite was the oxtails. It was tender, succulent, and cooked to perfection. It comes in a delicious tomato-based sauce that goes phenomenally with rice. The ribs and chorizo were also really good. I didn't like the coconut shrimp as much. It was a little overcooked and the batter was too thick. Overall I really liked the meal. There are a lot of other items on the menu that I want to try next time.

Had lunch with my husband. It was our first time and we were so impressed. Everything we ordered was fantastic. We recommend the papitas rellenas, chicharrones, ropa vieja (wow!), bistec empanizado. Also the chocolate empanadas were so good. We tried and highly recommend the fall sangria and the strawberry lemonade. The restaurant itself has a wonderful ambiance and the service is friendly and professional. The music is great and makes you want to dance. This place does everything right. Will return with friends and family soon!

First time at this location. It sadly didn't have the same seafood we usually eat at the Hackensack location but that's ok. We decided to try various other dishes. The table ordered the Whole fried fish, Mahi mahi tropical, ceviche, yuca fries, camarones al ajillo, house salad with avocado, tostones, beans, rice, and nearly all the lemonades (mango, strawberry, passion fruit and guava). The best thing on the table was the lemonade and yuca fries sauce. We used that sauce for everything. The rest was not bad but not our favorite either. Would try again another time.

Well decided to give it one last try. Last time food was good but the bill was very different than the menu prices. We Just left. Well food was very mediocre no flavor. Service was horrible though pretty empty and my bill was very different than the menu prices again. Let me say much more was on my receipt. Extremely disappointed. Will not be returning to this terrible place. Flavorless food and the fact that they are not transparent on their prices. Can't trust this place.

Really enjoyed this spot for dinner! We came here on a Wednesday evening with no reservation but were able to get seated almost immediately (plenty of space, but your entire party must be present to get seated). The outdoor deck area is very nice and the staff was extremely attentive - quick with water, menus, drinks, and everything else. I started with a coconut Mojito which was delicious, but a little on the sweet side, so I switched to the classic mojito after one round. Both were great, though not very strong. For food, I got the guacamole Cubano with crab - good guac but amazing chips!! I also ordered the ceviche Dorado, which I enjoyed (only downside is wayyy more onion than fish). My friend's spinach empanadas were also delicious, and the creamy sauce they came with was fantastic! Overall, great meal and friendly staff - definitely would return.

Good food runs in their name. I usually go to the Hackensack location, but they are not allowing reservations so we decided to give this location a try for date night and was impressed. This location is bigger and offers parking. They also have bubble domes for outside dining that was pretty cool. The interior design remines me of an old Cuban household. Very antique looking which made it stand out from their other location. To start we had the fried pork, grill octopus, and the potato balls. Everything was delicious. For the entrée I had the guava bbq ribs with rice with black beans and an avocado salad. My boyfriend ordered the skirt steak with white rice and red beans. Everything he ordered was amazing, the only thing that wasn't great were my ribs. They were fall off the bone, but the guava taste was lacking. It tasted more like a bottle bbq sauce. The staff was super friendly and I loved how clean and separated everything was. I will definitely be back.

It's my first time back in a long time. Pandemic has definitely taken it's toll on this business. Whether it be food preparation, drink quality, wait time, etc There is definitely a hump that the business has to overcome. I ordered takeout and was told to arrive in 30 mins. My food was ready upon arrival, Gold Star! Hate waiting - Kudos to the cook. Now it goes downhill... I ordered three drinks; Mango Colada and Sangrias. It took 20 mins for the barmaid to make my drinks. Not only did she make me wait, but she broke a couple of glasses in the process due to her own frustrations, being the ONLY bartender working. The colada is on ice not frozen, never told to me or specified on the menu. I was praying the drinks would be the redemption prize, HELLZ NO...these 20 minute delayed drinks tasted worst than ever! The sangria was bitter as hell that it'll leave you sucking up your lips. And the colada was a sugar high. Worst Barmaid Ever! Loss of a star Then, I get home and open up my paper trays containing my now cold food. Loss of a star. I order Churrasco con chimichurri welldone, I get red meat. On top of that, I was served raw red onions. Loss of star The fries to the kids meal was of course cold as well, the rice was sticking to the containers because the rice is wet on paper. This place has A LOT of work to do before the summer rush.

The food was great but what really stood out was the service all because of our waiter Jesse. He exceeded expectations, was very attentive, kind, helpful and professional. our experience here was better because of him. he deserves all the praise on a job well done.

Love the interior and food of this restaurant! The decor is rustic and festive and there are lots of seating. I was seated on the side with the windows which was nice! I ordered the tapas only and they were all really good but quite heavy/oily. I tried the wings, pork belly and empanadas. The meats were fried to perfection and had great taste. The empanadas were juicy and flavorful but I wish the skin was less thick. Overall a great restaurant to check out!
