I loved my stay, one of my favourite Mauritian hotels by far and each one of the staff made it this memorable. The rooms were okay- they were good, but nothing special, what I really liked about them was that they usually give you Pepsi and 7 UP, but since my nana has diabetes, she can’t have any of them, and so we asked the maid if it was okay for us to switch it for Diet Coke and she did just that after telling us it might not be possible. By far the best thing about this hotel was the food, most dishes weren’t your typical all inclusive food, and although there was a lot of that, a good amount was real Mauritian food and gives people that haven’t been before a taste of the types of food they have there- some of my favourites were roti, aubergine fritters, and pickle, but there was so much more (including desserts too like napoleons) the daytime activities and pools were great also, they have two shops in the hotel and they are expensive, but they aren’t so unreasonable. There was 2 pools, including two normal sized pools, and a connected jacuzzi, and a waterfall that creates a kids pool, if I were to change something about the pool it would be to put sunbeds around the kids or “waterfall” pool, as from where the sunbeds are, parents can’t watch their children like they usually with the normal pool. I was there for 3 weeks, so the entertainment did get repetitive, but that isn’t the hotel’s fault, and the entertainment provided was good, except from bingo night, and sega night, as I feel like the sega could have been so much better if the dancers stayed longer after the show to teach the audience more of the dances than they did. Something that is arguably more important than all this combined is the staff, and I could not name one person that was even remotely rude to me during my stay, all were kind, said hello, and helped if we needed anything, not only does this include the bar staff and everyone of the main staff, but also people such as the gardeners and maids. During my stay, my nana tripped over the platform that the bar is on, and although there should’ve been a a sign or ledge there, it wasn’t the hotel’s fault, yet, a few people still helped us: (never got his name) but the leader of the security team was so kind to us during this, when she was getting into the ambulance he stood and spoke to both me and my grandad before we went in ourselves, ever since then whenever we would run into him he was always ask for updates on her health, and when she would be returning to the hotel, and even after this, he still came over and talked to us whenever he saw us. Another person is a waiter from the restaurant moorghen, we first spoke to him when we were taking my nana some food just after her fall and since they could both speak creole, always spoke (when she returned) when we were all in the restaurant. He always made sure everything was perfect for us, making sure (along with the rest of the team) that our table was closer to the begging of the restaurant for easy access, and other small things such as bringing my graded brown sauce during breakfast when they usually don’t have it out, and as much as they were all small things, they all drastically improved our quality of our stay. Finally, I would like to mention someone on the entertainment team Sabrina, she is was there from the beginning and it the type of person to help you gain more and more confidence throughout your stay, even when you didn’t want to dance or table part in pool activities, she would still walk around and talk to people about them and not just about their trip. She, along with everyone else in this hotel were amazing and all such kind people, which made such a difference in my stay. And although my trip was ruined by the countless clinic trips and stress of insurance, the hotel and its team made it so much better when we returned to make the rest of our time better than it could’ve been.
