2 of the best rock climbing destinations in South-East Asia - SilverKris

"The largest island in Halong Bay is a lush, rugged climbing paradise with a national park established in 1986. The main crag, Butterfly Valley, offers more than 60 climbs, while Ben Beo Wall — towering above the island’s main fishing harbour — provides significantly more challenging routes. Most climbing areas require a daily pass (roughly US$1–3), which can be obtained through operators such as Asia Outdoors, who also organise tours and equipment rentals. Beyond climbing, visitors can trek in the island’s national park to search for the endangered golden-headed langur or take boat tours around Halong Bay to admire the limestone formations. Accessible via Hoang Long bus service to Dinh Vu port from Hanoi followed by a 40-minute ferry, the island suits climbers seeking an immersive island experience." - Samantha David
