We had a lovely stay at Hamilton Cove unit 17-78. The views were amazing and the cove was quiet, relaxing and peaceful. The complimentary golf cart made it so that we could go into town no problem and enjoy the best of both worlds. The unit had a spacious kitchen that allowed us to cook meals and eat inside or on the deck when we wanted. Highly recommend staying here. (Bison from ecotour - not at Hamilton - but cool nonetheless)

Shot out to Wendy at the Catalina Island Vacation Rentals!!!. We unexpectedly had to switch rentals during our stay because our hot water heater went out. Wendy was so kind, helpful and professional with us. She made sure we found something that fit our needs. She went the extra mile to make sure our family was comfortable. What a great asset she is to your company! Thank you Wendy!!!!!

I decided to celebrate my milestone birthday on Catalina Island this year and it was absolutely everything I wanted and needed! My rental home on Summer was perfectly located between the beach for sunning, near the spa for relaxing, near the shops for retail joy and near the nightclub to dance the night away….with only a 2 block walk home! The week flew by, but I am rejuvenated and ready for life’s next adventures! I love Catalina Island and am already planning my next visit to my new home away from home.

Loved our stay in Avalon. Great Hamilton Cove Villa with our own golf cart . Catalina Island Vacation Rentals was great to work with and can’t wait to come back to the island.

So beautiful. Catalina Island Vacation Rentals are amazing. They are very kind, helpful, and accommodating to all. Definitely for couples and large tourist groups that come on cruise ships.

We stayed 4 days at 357 Clarissa Ave (or Claressa?) in Avalon. There are positives but overall I would not recommend this property. It is not good value for the price. This home is very beautiful and the location is perfect, not too close to the noise but an easy walking distance. The many bedrooms were comfortable and the bathrooms had everything we needed. However the house was not very clean. Our children had black feet from walking barefoot inside! The kitchen was barely equipped with the very basics and we had trouble finding cookware adequate to prepare meals for a large group. There were only two kitchen towels for example. The house is also in need of repairs: the oven door does not close, neither does the dishwasher soap dispenser. The outdoor refrigerator and microwave are not built for outdoor use (electrical hazard in rain), the refrigerator door doesn’t close, and the outdoor gas BBQ controls were in deep disrepair (gas leak hazard).  Too many little things: like the fridge light doesn’t work, above the sink the light is out, master bath sink faucet is loose, many windows lack screens or have big holes in the screens. We found a fan outside which we used in the dining area but the one upstairs did not work. There are no recycling or organic waste bins in the alley. In summary, if you want to have an expensive rental you need to pay better attention to details.

We rented the 3 bedroom 2 bath house by Catalina Island vacation rentals. Really nice property, the location was perfect, walking distance to town! It was a nice bonus to have the golf cart to also tour the island. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. Patio area was used the most, very nice Island vibes! Will definitely visit again! Thank you so much!

718 Crescent Ave. Saying this place has a great view is an understatement. Incredible location, with panoramic views of both the town of Avalon and the harbor. Although close to restaurants and shops in town, with the well appointed kitchen you’ll be happy to stay in and enjoy your meals in the dining area or on the lanai. Located next to the historic Holly Hill House, this is our favorite place to stay on Catalina.

Yelp
We stayed at a standalone home at the very top of Hamilton Cove (211 Cortez). The place was stunning - amazing views and 3 large king bed bedrooms each with its own ensuite. The folks at Catalina Island Vacations were easy to work with, knowledgeable about the rental units, and helpful when we asked for an early check-in. We even saved a few dollars over booking through one of the popular vacation rental sites.

Yelp
We've rented a house in Catalina several times now over the years from CIVR, and we've never had any major issues. Check-in is easy breezy. I'd give 4 out of 5 stars for cleanliness. One of our favorite spots overlooking the bay doesn't have the best lighting, and the mattresses are not the most comfortable but the view is to die for!!! It also comes with a golf cart which is key! Every rental we've had has all the necessary items to stay as far as toilet paper, kitchen supplies to cook, etc. if you run out they don't relish, but there is a Vons on the island which is pretty awesome. Some of the rental units are outdated, but we don't mind too much since we know getting things to the island can be costly. As long as we plan on continuing to visit the island we'll continue to rent from CIVR.

Yelp
Cottage 334 Sumner is terrible. First off it says occupancy limit of six but that's because they have two single air mattresses in the closet. It's really for four, barely. There is a small bedroom with a full or queen bed and a dresser and bathroom. The other bedroom barely fits two twin beds and a tiny armoire. The living room/dining room is small but ok except that it was decorated by a drunken chimpanzee with filthy hands. The two sofas have striped cloth that appears to have not been cleaned in ages. We were afraid to touch the sofa arms. The rest of the cottage is poorly decorated and needs AT LEAST a coat of paint to cover the stains and spills. I get that it's old and "rustic" but it really feels like it hasn't been maintained for years. At $679.00 per night $300+ in service fee, taxes and cleaning fee, it was on the low-ish end of cost for the area, but it's on the busiest/loudest street in Avalon with gas powered golf carts whizzing by at all hours. I don't think I will ever give Catalina Island Vacation Rentals my business again unless I hear they have changed their ways and provide some value for my hard earned money. For $1600 per couple we should have had a decent place to stay.

Yelp
Caution: They are ok if everything runs smoothly, but if you have a problem, you are ignored without compensation. I'd suggest renting through VRBO or AirBNB. Regarding Unit H175. While the condo itself was very nice and upgraded, we had the unfortunate luck of the unit right next to ours (Unit 74) under construction the entire weekend. The workers and the construction completely disrupted what was supposed to be a peaceful getaway. We paid almost 1200 per night, and expected the experience to be much better. Upon arrival the entrance to the unit was riddled with construction and trash. The workers were sanding and painting, playing loud music. We were unable to even enjoy the balcony due to the smell, dust, sound and workers coming outside to talk, put construction materials out on the balcony. We figured they would go home shortly, so I did not complain. That evening however was a total nightmare. The workers were staying in the unit overnight! They had all the doors and windows open, playing loud music and talking until at least 2am. I was not provided a phone number for the local Security from CIVR, so I called the emergency line and left a message and I believe someone then called Security. I had to follow up with CIVR the next day by TEXT, because nobody answered the phone. We had our 5 year old daughter with us and I did not feel secure the entire evening and for the entire weekend for that matter. The next day Sunday, the workers continued to start working until I walked up and talked to security myself and they said they would tell them to stop. We spent the morning in town and when we came back at noon to the unit, they were still painting/sanding/working! My husband had to then step and tell them to stop. What an uncomfortable situation to be in! Monday morning, the workers arrived and started working again at 8am! We were so tired of complaining at this point, we just let it be and tried to make the best of it. We signed a very long document with CIVR stating all of the fines we would incur for breaking the HOA rules, those workers and the owner of the unit had broken at least 5 of them. Lastly, we were provided with half rolls of toilet paper upon arrival, then was told we were responsible for purchasing our own. You would think for 1200 per night, we would at least be provided basic necessities. We paid top dollar to stay at this unit over a holiday weekend, and while I appreciate the small gesture of a late check out, it does not fix the fact that the time we spent in the condo was subpar. This Feedback has been IGNORED by CIVR to date, several emails and phone calls. They simply lack in customer service, have no problem taking your money. I highly recommend using VRBO or AirBNB as they have some sort of compensation responsibility. This was a 1 and Done for us.

Yelp
We stayed in 211 Claressa Upper Unit for a weekend in Catalina and had a stellar weekend. Booking was esay, check-in communication was great, the unit was clean and roomy and we loved having three bedrooms (this was key with teens who like their space!), 2 bathrooms and a beautiful deck with a nice view of the homes around. Having the golf cart was also key especially since we had to drive up and down the hill each day for a lacrosse tournament at Joe Machado field. The location is right around the corner from Vons and walking to all the waterfront shops and restaurants - great donut place just down the street with huge donuts too! I would come back and stay here again, my only suggestion would be to add some kitchen shears to the kitchen please, that would have come in handy. We were in communciation with Cruz before and during our stay. He was helpful and accomodating. I am very grateful for everything he did for us to help accomodate our schedule that weekend!

Yelp
Just rented the same house on June 27 through June 30 of 2024. Had a horrible experience with Catalina island vacation rentals. I love this house. A lot of family memories here. Came to the home. The two rooms with bunkbeds were filthy. The bedding had nasal excrement on the pillowcases, make up on the bedspreads hair inside the beds. Contacted the Management company they said they would send somebody out. Somebody came out and took one bedspread off of One of the bunkbeds, unfortunately I left my purse and my cash in the locked house. when I came back three $100 bills and one $50 bill were missing out of my wallet. contacted the supervisor. She said that is the serious accusation and that the cleaner is an upstanding member of the community, I've never accused anybody stealing from me. . It was so egregious because I counted all of my money in denominations that morning They never contacted me or followed up. I tried to leave a a review on reserve Catalina Island, and it would not let me even leave one. They said that sometimes he has his wife and or niece clean with him. I hope the owner sees this review and contacts me . They have me back cleaning fee .

Yelp
catalinavacations.com The unit and its furniture are 40 years old and they show it. Found hair in the fridge and nails on the floors near the bed and on the living room floors. Bathrooms were dirty with raggedy towels and disgusting toilet brushes out in the view. The golf cart and the fridge stopped working on the 3rd day of our stay and were replaced with very old and dirty ones several hours later after making numerous phone calls.

Alison A.

Yelp
334 Sumner is a horrible vacation rental. The sofas are dirty, one room is tiny & can barely fit 2 twin beds. The floor was dirty. For what we paid, we expected a much nicer & cleaner place!

Yelp
Here are pictures from 300 marilla last week. My family has stayed in this home for the last 12 summers, such a beautiful home that has been let go. I'm addition to the pics below the lights were broken so we are in the dark. The last straw was when the doorknob broke off. Manager was incredibly rude. In case you are wondering it was about 900.00 to stay here!

Yelp
My family and I stayed the weekend Aug 11-13, 2023 for units H167 and H175. Upon check-in, we were texted that our reservation had been adjusted without prior notice and we were placed in H322 instead of unit H175. Based on the listing images, H175 was more updated than the replacement unit we were provided, H322. It is very unfortunate to feel as if I paid for something higher quality than what I received with the last minute change to unit H322. I also specifically rented H175 and H167 so that my family would all be close to one another since Hamilton Cove is quite large and spread out. In addition to the last minute change of units, once we checked in we quickly realized that Unit H167 was very dirty: half of the electrical outlets and overhead lighting did not work multiple towels and sheets had stains on them, the pullout sofa had a red stain on the mattress sheet and the sofa was broken and sunken in and the sinks did not drain. We contacted property management immediately upon noticing these issues and they did not answer the phone so we left a message but were never contacted back. Attached are photos of these issues in Unit H167. Ultimately, the condition of Unit H167 was completely unacceptable and I asked for compensation after sending an email of all of this to the property management team, but was never contacted. I've reached out multiple times and have never been contacted back.

Yelp
BLOODY PILLOW case, a cookie sheet that NO ONE would cook with and it had FOOD left on it from previous renters. Smoke detector still missing (a review in 2017 told them about it, its still missing). Shower / floor most grout was black. There is so many years of filth, it may not even come off. Light switches have NEVER been cleaned, the refrigerator is RUSTED, the oven/stove does not close fully because its so old and broken.. and FILTHY. CIVR is an unethical agency focused on getting your money and not delivering on ANY of their claims such as "we have 200 beautiful and clean properties"... 331 DESCANSO was nothing close to beautiful or clean. Wendy at the agency said $675 a night they consider their "budget" properties, that they represent it to people who can't afford to go to Catalina. Nowhere did they say this was a "budget" property until AFTER we were already there... which then she said the property is "old and shows its wear and tear"... hey lady, too late with that info! She did "offer" to give me a refund of the remaining days if I moved my family of 8 out right then and find other accommodations on one of the busiest weekends of the year. Save yourself from being taken advantage of and go to another agency.. and do not go to 331 Descanso.

Yelp
Booked a 3 night trip with CSVR to take my parents who I haven't seen since 2019. It was a big deal for us to take a trip together. Unfortunately the accommodation left a lot to be desired. We stayed at 359 Sumner - location was great, close to bus stop and a very short walk to the Vons and the harbor. From the photos on the listing the property looked perfect. However, up close the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. There were a number of random scuff marks and dirt on the walls, holes where paintings had obviously been removed and a layer of grime on each baseboard. In one bedroom the smoke alarm had been ripped out of the ceiling and wires were hanging out. Both of the beds were HORRIBLE. The one my husband and I chose was clearly broken outside of the springs sticking us in the back. Unfortunately there were also two disgusting stains on the mattress. One was brownish red so it's obvious what that was. We ended up sleeping on the pull out in the living area for the rest of the trip. The sleep was awful. It would have been an amazing trip but we were so tired all the time we were just pissed off. There was also only 2 rolls of toilet roll - for 4 people. There were no extra linens even though the place boasted sleeping 8. Considering the price of the property it was nasty as hell. I actually sent an email to them detailing my experience but haven't received a reply so I have no problem posting this and the photos I took.

Yelp
CVR: very easy to work with and responded timely which was helpful. They even went above and beyond by shipping us the souvenir's we bought for our kids that we mistakenly left behind. Most places would say 'sorry, too bad' or charge an extravagant fee. We really appreciated it! Unit H-242: Pros: The bed was comfy to sleep on, the mirrors in the unit made it feel spacious, the balcony with patio seating was one of my favs since it was quiet and you could just listen to the waves. Having access to a golf cart for our stay made a huge difference. (In-town stays don't include one so you have to rent them hourly and it gets expensive quick) Cons: While most of this unit was clean (the floor, kitchen and bathroom shower/sink, dresser & bed), the walls, white leather furniture and doors need a deep clean. I get that it's a rental but all the dirty handprints and smudges were very noticeable on the bright white walls. (See pics) Some of the blinds were damaged and a window was cracked so we weren't able to open it to help cool the unit off overnight (we didn't dare sleep with the patio doors open since it is a shared patio that also has stairs connected to a common area). We did open a bedroom window and there was a fan. Note: Someone previously complained of ants, a slow golf cart, broken toilet seat, delayed unit access, poor wifi, dirty sheets but all of those were non-existent issues for us. The Hamilton Cove community: It was clean and well cared for, especially for when it was built. This was our first visit to Catalina and I didn't realize how busy the town and other beaches get, even in Sept. The private cove and pier were awesome and much more quiet. The gated community felt safe, had security at the entrance, and was quiet. The pool was clean and HEATED. We will definitely return!

Yelp
This review is for 300 Marilla Way, Avalon CA We (Daughter, Son-in Law, 2 grandkids, my wife and I) spent 3 nights at 300 Marilla in Catalina. Our rate was $590 a night for 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen and living room. The good... Nice view of Avalon bay and the pacific, wrap around deck with seating for 8, 6 person golf cart included (one broken seatbelt on rear facing seat that looks to have been broken for years) close to downtown (1/4 mile?), acceptable corner sofa seating 5-6, dining table for 8. Towels provided (many with stains), shampoo, soap etc. and beds were comfortable. The annoying... Very Dirty windows in the ocean side bedroom, bathroom, gum on the floor by a nightstand, 2nd bath shower door doesn't close leaving water on the floor, an old band-aid on the fireplace hearth, master bedroom blind with a broken string so only one side went up and the window tracks haven't been cleaned in the last few years. Peeling paint, chipped/faded interior door, crusted bathroom fixtures from the 70's, throw pillows unraveling, box fan in the closet with dirt layers from many years of use. The living room tv might be the original 36" flat screen with a picture that looks like a layer of Vaseline is on the screen and it's mounted about 2 feet from the ceiling, coffee pot had the last brew still in it and smelled moldy, was filthy and might have been purchased with the flatscreen tv, master bath tub/shower caulking was gone so you have a 1/4 gap between the tub and wall, the shower head is dirty and crusted with water deposits, the dishwasher was non op and when we called the management company they said "oh well", the dishes still have to be washed. They did send a maintenance person to look at it but he had no idea what the problem was. The interior looked like the dishwasher hasn't run in quite awhile. Various ceiling/wall stains from age, a giant bag of trash at the top of the stairs from the last guests I think? And just an overall feel of "if you don't rent it someone else will" Too bad, spend 2-3,00 for some paint, a tv, coffee pot, appliance repair person, competent cleaning crew, etc. and you could raise your rate to recoup costs and have more repeat clients. Would not stay here again.

Yelp
USE VRBO INSTEAD!! Out of no where they cancelled my group's reservation because they said there was a glitch on their website that allowed a rental unit to be booked for one day when there's a 2 day minimum. I wouldn't be so upset aside from the fact that I booked it 3 weeks ago with no issues and no communication indicating there was any discrepancy. They had no problem charging me either. I emailed the office today to ask a question, all of the sudden I receive a cancellation email. So, I suppose if I didn't try to ask a question ahead of time, my group would have shown up to Catalina Island to check in...and they wouldn't even honor our reservation. Garbage rental company.

Yelp
Have I got a deal for you... Very disappointed! Trying to not be angry and make the best of being in our fave place. We've been coming to Catalina our whole lives. We live just across on the mainland. We stay for the weekend often. Rented 334 Whitley and it is majorly false advertised and a disaster. Missing a ceiling fan in the bedroom. Like actually missing. Missing screens on 3 windows Holes in sliding screen. Missing front sliding screen. Broken shades in laundry Hole in fridge floor The only TV is in one of the bedrooms. There is nowhere for a family to watch TV. The only "seating" in the "tv area" is the bed. Windows are missing screens so you can't open them or you'll get bugs and the central fan/ air conditioning doesn't work. We rented this rather than a hotel room for the seating and living area... we would have been better at a hotel. Very disappointing and frustrating. The couch has a weird smell. It's just a couch stuck in a hallway maybe it's intended to be used as a pullout for extra sleeping space. The "ocean view" is not existent well unless you go in the bedroom without the TV. Rental company was super responsive when renting and on it about their info.... Not so sure how this will go now... "yes we knew this from the previous guest we will send maintenance". "Our manager is off until Monday" WTF. For the record maintenance never came. This sucks! Update they came at the end of our trip and basically said "yep these things are actually wrong". Then don't rent it or tell people and give them a choice and a discount... I would have chosen to stay elsewhere. So if you want to spend $1500 for 2 days to stay in a stuffy unit that is misadvertised and missing fixtures, screens and anyone that cares... I've got a deal for you!

Craig P.

Yelp
There are not responsive. They do not follow up. The whole point of a vacation is to enjoy the time and relax. CIVR does the opposite, it creates stress and unnecessary work. On the plus side, you do not need to pay the surcharge that AirBnb charges, but AirBnb is responsive. At this point, the AirBnb surcharge is worth it, as now I'm paying money to CIVR and it's accomplishing the opposite of what a vacation is supposed to be.

pam g.

Yelp
This home has a good location for walking. Living room seating is good. Nice upstairs bedroom and deck area.

Marshie M.

Yelp
I'll say the house is awesome but the lady checking us in was awful. When I checked in Yelp gave us a coupon for a free tote bag to celebrate their 100th Anniversary. When we inquired she sneered at us and said "if there are any"....pause, pause, pause "and there aren't." She never smiled and she seemed like we were irritating her for checking in. Ummm, very odd experience and very unhappy to have this person as a greeter to our vacation. She's not doing us a favor! We could rent for anyone and if she's unhappy perhaps she shouldn't be in the customer service industry? Will do our best to avoid CIVR in the future.

Rebecca P.

Yelp
Book a hotel- disgusting home. 331 Descanso. Photos do not match reality. Fridge was broken, cigarette holes in couch with big stains, food crusted on dishes, coffee maker slimy and unusable, one shower too gross to use, the other one missing a door (was broken and sitting in the closet). Management would not speak to us while we were on island, now that we have been home they continue to ignore emails and texts. We paid over $500 a night to rent something like a gross frat house. We are reasonable and kind people. I cannot say this about this company.

Giselle B.

Yelp
While they manage a great amount of vacation rentals do your best to NOT use a place from Catalina Island Vacation Rentals. Trust me. First the place was over 1k a night for a three bedroom. So naturally we expected a nice place. We got the opposite of nice. The place was SO run down. I mean even toilet seats were peeling. The place was FILTHY. And when things broke they were aggressive and rude. I have no idea how they get away with what they do but they do. We will NEVER use a place they manage.

Daniella R.

Yelp
Perfect weekend in Catalina! Stayed in Hamilton Cove through Catalina Island Vacation Rentals on Easter weekend and had the best time. The rental was clean and the staff was helpful in answering all our questions about the property. We will definitely be renting from CIVR for future trips!

Shush R.

Yelp
I booked a gorgeous condo (H242) for a great deal in Jan for a trip in May. It was approved and all fine and good and money exchanged. Weeks later were vaxxed and traveling again. Bookings for similar condos in the same unit were listed for up to $700 more. These jerks told me I HAD TO PAY more for "THEIR MISTAKE" or cancel my reservation. I said 'no that onus is on you.' I contacted airbnb for help. I have diving reservations paid for. They said Catalina Island Vacations Rentals behavior is unacceptable, I wasn't obligated to pay the funds. Catalina Island cancelled my vacation yesterday. Absolute BS. Luckily I went to VRBO and found a similar condo with a golf cart as a bonus. It was a near thing and I wont be using Airbnb or Catalina Island Vacations for anything in the future. What jerks.

Josh B.

Yelp
We had an amazing time at Hamilton Cove. From beginning to end everything was great. The most breathtaking views, the villa was the perfect size for our family of four, we had a complimentary golf cart, tons of activities to do - I only wish we could've stayed longer. CIVR staff communicated with me by text messages and responded to all my questions in a timely manner. The private beach was awesome and the water was so clean and refreshing. We were able to swim with the fish too. Remember to bring or buy water shoes as the beach doesn't have sand but rocks. We will be returning soon!

Todd C.

Yelp
Knowing that Hamilton Cove is a luxury resort and we were paying luxury resort prices for H-1785, we had reasonably high expectations, but our experience with this property was exactly the opposite starting with the second bathroom toilet running all night long the first night until we had to shut it off waiting for the maintenance staff to repair it, arriving at 2:00 pm the following afternoon and their having to return three different times before they brought the right part and it was repaired. Every time we tried to prepare food in the kitchen it was overrun by ants. If we left our food for five minutes on the counter it was ruined by the ants. The GFI outlets in the kitchen were not working and the maintenance guy said to just keep wiggling the plugs until it worked. The TV was on the wrong settings when we arrived and it took an hour to figure out the right configuration to make it work. The Wi-Fi went from non-existent to marginally weak throughout our stay. The exhaust fan in the second bathroom sometimes worked and sometimes did not. The ice maker in the refrigerator made one ice cube an hour so there was never enough ice for drinks -- we had to buy our own and bring it back to the condo. We were required by the property managers to wash our own dishes before leaving but the dishwasher did not work and there were no hand towels to dry dishes with. The condo provided one bath towel per person but no washcloths and one hand towel in the second bathroom. The furniture is worn out mis-matched consignment store quality. The linens & pillows were Motel 6 quality. Carpets are worn out & dirty. We found miscellaneous broken items & game parts strewn throughout the condo. Finally, the property managers -- every time we tried to call them, if we reached them at all instead of the call going to voice mail, they always sounded as if you had just interrupted their watching a soap opera. There was no sense of customer service -- instead they reminded us that each condo is individually owned and what is provided is at the owner's discretion, so take this as a warning.

Yelp
I don't write reviews. I use AirBnBs quite frequently. Whether I have a very good, mildly disappointing or (most times) somewhere in between experience, I'm usually just too busy to take the time to write a review. But after my time at this villa and reading the past positive reviews that made me book it in the first place, I knew I'd be remiss if I didn't warn someone from going through the same thing my family did. I took my two young daughters on a Daddy Daughter trip to Catalina in August of '22. We read the reviews and subsequently booked the H160 villa in the Hamilton Cove subdivision. First let me say that Catalina is great. Beautiful views. Small island feel. A great change of pace from Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the disrepair of this unit and lack of service from the company behind this villa totally ruined the trip for us. We literally only stayed one night and left the Island early rather than stay another night there. #1 - There is no Air Conditioning at all in our unit. There are breezes. The ocean air feels nice. However if you plan on going at ANY time from March thru October please know that the average temperature is in the high 70s. And it feels even hotter in a 2BR villa without screened windows. It's unbearable during the day and at night as beautiful as Catalina is, it is "buggy". There are bees and wildlife and foxes. None of these are big issues but you have to be aware of that when thinking "well I'll just leave the windows open at night". Plus there is a window in the second bedroom that is broken and permanently ajar. Even with that it was ridiculously hot in the unit. For the rate they charge the least that could be done is to put portable fans in each of the rooms, since there aren't ceiling fans in the living area or second bedroom.  #2 - Ants! There are ants everywhere in this unit. And I mean everywhere. The ants live there. You don't. You're just visiting. My daughters and I killed a couple hundred and they just kept coming(as ants do). They need to do more than just spray. They need to do a full pest control fogging treatment. Twice. #3 - Customer Service. They are awful. This is definitely the type of rental that was nice once but is now an older unit and because it's in a good neighborhood and a sought after destination they don't feel the need to do much. Thus the unit being in disrepair. It has absolutely no special touches, extra towels, adequate hangers, etc. Just the bare minimum. The instructions for how to use the TV are inadequate and confusing. And the Mgmt is not responsive. No one ever came to fix the window or address the ants. We ended up cutting our trip short and only stayed for one unbearable, hot, ant filled night. In conclusion, Catalina is beautiful and I'd recommend it. But there are many other options. Steer clear of this villa and any others managed by Catalina Island Vacation Rentals. It's just not worth it. You've been warned.

Yelp
We rented unit 11-51. The unit itself has a wonderful view but it is being poorly managed. We had to contact the management company a number of times during our three night stay. We first called the management company the first night because the lights were out in the kitchen and we were going to cook dinner so needed the light. When we spoke to the management company the guy responded in a very condescending way and promised to come fix it at 9am since it wasn't a "safety issue". The problem was not rectified until a second call the next day after the 9am appointment became a no show. The unit comes with a golf cart but it is dangerous and in need of service and when we called the woman on the phone blew me off by saying it is maintained regularly and safe...we disagree. I can honestly say we didn't feel safe driving it. The unit is not well appointed and the coffee pot leaked all over the counter. The ice maker in the refrigerator did not work (a problem when you want to make a cocktail and have no ice and the store is so far away). There is no place to hang clothes as all the closets are full of linens/pillows/etc. The bedroom tv is old and jerry rigged into a space that could be used for storage of the linens (opening up a closet area). There were no sharp knives, chipped dishes and they don't even have four matching wine glasses. Torn dishtowels and no sponge were another pet peeve. There were ants everywhere in this unit (bed, bathrooms, bedroom drawers, kitchen, and patio). The way the management company rectified this was to leave bug spray on the doorstep while we were out (see photo) so we were supposed to spray poison on our beds and in the drawers where our clothes are??? The units lists a bbq on the patio so we went into town and bought all the stuff to have a nice bbq dinner but when we went to lite it the propane tank was empty. We tried calling the maintenance guy again (he told us to call him if anything else came up) but his voice mailbox was full and so we texted him and never got a response. Needless to say, the bbq dinner was now a throw it in the oven dinner that was mediocre and late because we waited for the maintenance person to call us back. The next day we had to once again call the management company and they apologized but that didn't help since our dinner the night before was ruined. We again complained about the ants and this time they put little ant traps on the balcony when they put the propane tank in. For an ocean front unit that sleep 6 you would think there would be more than one beach chair and one beach mat -- come on they aren't that expensive! Due to covid-19 the management company was supposed to supply masks - they did not. The beach is so rocky it hurt your feet so they should tell guests to bring water shoes as going in the water at the "private beach" is impossible. We contacted the management company to let them know how dissatisfied we were and Carina (the manager) would only offer a 5% refund. The bottom line is that the management company doesn't care about it's guests (or owners for that matter - Carina did nothing other than blame the owner for the disrepair) and only want to take your money. I wouldn't recommend this management company to anyone -- there are other companies that actually value their guests....unfortunately CIVR isn't one of them. Do yourself a favor and don't bother with them.

Yelp
Hamilton Cove Villa 2-42 This was not our first time to stay in one of these villas but the first time at this particular one. Never again. Here's what we discovered: Walls need painting Baseboards dirty BBQ out of propane and no lighter to start (igniters don't work)had to call maintenance Shower door missing with cheap white plastic curtain in place Mold in tile shower Bathroom mirrors corroded at edges Can light above tub falling down loose from ceiling Old Toilet very low and difficult to flush One ply TP and paper towels and no Kleenex Bedding is old and worn Queen blanket on king bed Mattress worn No access to CD player or receiver for music play Sofa bed couch with torn upholstery TV in common area about 20" Kitchen pots & pans old mismatched & trashed 4 dirty white cheap plastic placemats Mismatched cheap silverware Dishes and glasses cheap IKEA furniture Kitchen appliances original and old (oven is rusty and disgusting) except for microwave Kitchen cabinets feel sticky to touch and no hardware to open them Villa smells musty with obvious areas in walls and ceilings of water damage This unit needs updating! Golf cart is old with torn upholstery and torn cover and minimal horsepower $2400 for 3 night stay in October is ridiculous considering the poor condition of the property

Yelp
We had a perfect vacation in Catalina during Spring Break with our family. The island is magical, and Hamilton Cove was the perfect place to stay. Quiet, tons of amenities (pool, golf putting, tennis, etc), golf cart included, and absolutely beautiful! Catalina Island Vacations made it so easy to book our place. The property was clean, updated and felt like home. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay in unit 88. The view was beyond amazing and it was great having our own personal golf cart to tour around. There were games in the unit as well so made it perfect for our family vacation. Would love to stay there again- it was nicer than the hotels since away from all the touristy part and was quiet and serene.

Yelp
We booked 319 Clement home for the New Year and it was perfect for a mini vacation getaway. Rooms were comfortable and the size of the home is just right for a family of 4 along with a pet. Kitchen had all the appliances and utensils you would need to cook a meal. The home is walking distance to everything. Cruz the reservations supervisor was very helpful from checkin to checkout. Would definitely recommend to others when coming to Avalon.

Yelp
We stayed here for a short weekend trip and everything was great! The location is perfect and the view from the balcony is beautiful. You get a golf cart along with your rental which is very convenient. Would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
I rented a condo at Hamilton cove. It cost $5,200 for 6 nights! When I arrived on a Monday the tv, toaster, stove top, washing machine, phone, were all broken. They fixed everything by Saturday but I left on Sunday. They were rude on the phone. I feel this was because Catalina is booked solid in august and they don't have to have their properties in working order to rent them. Next time I will stay in a cheaper place and then I won't expect so much . It was a disappointing experience to deal with Catalina island vacation rentals! I still love Catalina but I won't stay there. I talked to 3 families staying at Hamilton cove and they said between them they had not one working kitchen. Not worth it!

Yelp
I rented with CIVR over Labor Day weekend. I Most Definitely will not be Renting with them ever again. For starters you can't check in till 3pm and if u don't get there by 5pm is a $35 charge. My biggest pet peeve was they charged me 1700 for nights and made me check out by 10am. They make you take out your own trash and wash ur own dishes. Who wants to do that on vacation paying so much. Also the women at the front desk was very rude when I told her i couldn't find the trash and I said maybe u should explain to the guest u share with the other units. And she looked at me like I was annoying her. Bottom line if someone is paying your company money test the customer right! Would not rent with them again. The house was beautiful and Hannah is very helpful. She was actually a very friendly person to work with. Only reason why I gave it two stars cuz the house was beautiful.

Yelp
Rented a Hamilton Cove Villa with a group of 5 girls and it was one of the best vacations ever! I've been visiting Catalina for years but this was the first time checking out Hamilton Cove and I LOVED it! We rented a 2 bedroom 2 bath in building 2 and it was great. The views, oh my gosh the views. It literally feels like you're in Greece, not across the way from Long Beach! :) Our unit came with a golf cart which I highly recommend you try to find as well. It made for such fun trips into town and for bringing groceries back to the villa to prep our own meals. It's been years since that trip and to this day, all the girls speak fondly of that weekend and how beautiful everything was. Whether you're thinking of going with a group or a romantic getaway, it's a must for your next getaway to beautiful Catalina.

Yelp
We stayed for the weekend with a dozen friends in a big 5 bedroom, 3 bath house at 410 Tremont for our friend's 60th birthday, and had a wonderful time. The house was perfect for our group - big dining table, fully stocked kitchen, nice backyard with BBQ and big patio table overlooking one of the no-car "walking" streets. Loved having quiet morning coffee outside. And it was a great location, walking distance to everything. Reservations and check-in we're easy and stress-free, and our Place was even ready for us early, right when we got off the ferry. Bonus! Would absolutely rent through Catalina Vacation Rentals again -- hopefully soon!

Yelp
DO NOT book with this company!! I booked a big place on Santa Catalina Island for Memorial day holiday weekend (May 26-30) Nearly 1 month before the rental, we got the terrible news that our mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I reached out to cancel immediately (May1st) so we could care for her. I was informed that since we were inside of a month before booking, we could not receive a refund UNLESS the property rebooked. Well, not surprisingly for a holiday weekend, the property soon fully rebooked, and I was assured by the office I would receive a full refund. After several weeks, nothing had happened, so I contacted the office again several times. Again I was assured I would receive a refund, and that "the finances office" was handing it. Months after the original booking, I still received NOTHING, and the office stopped answering my emails. I am currently taking them to small claims court.

Yelp
We had a group of 6 spend 2 nights in Hamilton cove unit 59. We were pleased with the service provided in helping find the best unit in Avalon for our group. We found Hamilton cove to be a nice development to stay. It is outside of main Avalon but there is a golf cart available to our unit that we used. There are a lot of steps but Catalina vacations told us about it upfront. Thank you Catalina island vacations.

Yelp
The grounds of the resort were lovely. The view of the ocean from the bedroom balcony was breathtaking. The hottub was perfect on the cool evenings. The staff on the grounds were friendly and accoomodating. Check in and out was easy. The units were roomy and comfortable with full kitchens. I would definatrly stay here again.

Yelp
We came to Catalina for a special occasion and booked one of the Del Sol condos through VRBO. The condo was nice with plenty of amenities and came fully stocked with everything someone might need while there. The golf cart included in the rental really made our trip special - would 100% book again with CIVR.

Yelp
If you are staying in Catalina and need a home to stay in CIVR is the way to go. You have a great company on the island to use as a resource for anything Catalina related. It was good to know that there was someone readily available if/when we needed them. There office is just a few blocks away right in the heart of Catalina where all the properties are. Check in was quick and simple. You go to their office to pick up keys and then they give you all the information you need about your place. No confusion. And they answer any questions you have. I will define use them next time we stay here.

Yelp
Don not rent through Catalina Island Vacation Rentals as the company is shady and dishonest. Booked a specific place, paid and signed a contract...30 days later we show up on the island and at 10am get a call from Catalina Island Vacation Rentals that the place we rented is not available due to construction?!?! So they put us in different rental which we are not happy with, as the one we rented had large ocean view bay window and more updated decor, the one we were put in was cluttered with half the view/balcony of one we paid for, but they are insisting it's an upgrade. Bonus is the bath tub does not have a stopper, water turns cold before filling up 1/2 way and black specs came out of faucet. Problem is that we are here on our kids spring break and there is NO where else with availability. If this company would of told us the place was not available , under construction or whatever the real reason is (as we went by the address that was in the contract and people were in it), weeks ago when we booked it and paid for it we could of found another place that was appealing to us. Instead they offer 10% discount. If we did not have non-refundable zip lining and parasailing booked I would leave in a heartbeat. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND CONFUSED on how this could happen. We signed a contract for another home and they offered nothing in terms of a better place or discount until we had to talk to multiple different people so finally were offered 10% discount. I guarantee if we called them last minute to cancel they would not refund us or give us 90% back; but they believe we should be grateful for their 10% discount. Bummer!! I just wanted to stay in the place my family chose and paid for. The Hamilton Cove Community is beautiful just book through different company.

Yelp
We stayed at 338 Sumner over Cinco de Mayo weekend and had a fantastic time! This home housed the 8 in my party very comfortably - there was enough space and room for all what with the 3 bedrooms and pullout bed. The location was exceptional, about a 3 minute walk to Vons (which is very well stocked), and about a 5 minute walk to the Avalon shore where you can find some great bars and restaurants (check out the Margaritas at Galleon!!!) The neighbors are really kind and the neighborhood has a relaxing feel. There are some lovely decorated homes as great views. Only complaint is wifi is a little spotty, but who needs it on vacation! Totally would reccommend and will stop by the next time I'm in Catalina.

Yelp
Our second year in a row renting the little cottage on Descanso!!!! Great spot, conveniently located a few blocks from the main strip in Avalon, all the creature comforts that on could want, and the balcony makes life with kids easy! Will definitely rent from this company again and again. The kitchen is well-stocked and makes for easy cooking and dining to save some money on dining out. New VONS is just two blocks away and has everything you need to enjoy your Catalina paradise. Highly recommended!

Yelp
CIVR is great! We have used CIVR for the last 4 years to house 8 to 12 of us for a formal event we attend in Avalon each year. The selection of properties, the quality, the responsiveness is first class. Each Property has been spotless on move in and in good condition. Communications about the rental and the area are excellent. The Hospitality App worked very well on informing us about our rental and the activities available in Avalon and on Catalina. We will definitely be using CIVR again and recommend their services to our friends. This year our house fit the needs of our party perfectly. Beautiful view of Avalon Harbor. Spacious decks, comfortable rooms, comfortable furniture, comfortable beds. Every need fulfilled. We will stay here again! Thank you to the CIVR staff for taking such good care of us.

Yelp
Stayed at Hamilton Cove Villa 3-19 and enjoyed every second of it! Views from this villa are drop dead gorgeous and the area was clean, peaceful and calm. The customer service is GREAT! They are just one call and text away with any help you may need. And the best part of it all is you get your own golf cart to drive around the island!

Yelp
We stayed at 359 Catalina Ave. We loved this place. We had some amazing meals that we cooked in the well-equipped kitchen and bbq'd on the gas grill. We ate on the gorgeous patio that was lined with yellow hibiscus flowers. The location is ideal. Just a short walk to the beach and right around the corner from a park and the botanical garden. We also loved the outdoor shower. The front porch was lovely for having ur morning coffee. This place has so many fun touches- the most extensive collection of vintage Catalina art, cool details and all the comforts of home.

Yelp
We love catalina island. We came out and rented an upper and lower unit for our "Bach Bash" (bachelorette and bachelor party) weekend. Both of the units we rented were very clean and decorated so nicely. The house is in great condition and any time we had any questions we were able to call and get an answer. Everything we needed was already here! The location was perfect, literally a 2 min walk to town close to all the food and shops. The couches were super comfortable. We all slept like BABIES on the beds, literally so comfortable. We had a fabulous time and can't wait to come back and stay here again. :)

Yelp
We stayed at Hamilton Cove in room 11-51 and it was beyond beautiful! We had an amazing ocean view, very comfy bed and a golf cart that we were able to use while we stayed here. Everyone working here is very friendly too, we will definitely be back this summer!!
