I had heard a number of great reviews about Catamount. We had a great time. Was a super easy ride from West Hartford, 90-minutes flat. It had snowed about 2” the night before. All lifts we running. There were quite a few trails not open, but the ones that were we had an awesome time on. We have Indy Passes. Check in and rentals were a little disorganized early in the day but leveled out later on. The food was excellent. We had the brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. They were $18/ea, but worth every penny. A lot of people horde the tables, but lift lines were quick and the trails were fun. Highly recommend.

Google
Beautiful venue space and convienent onsite accommodations. We hosted a welcome party for a wedding last summer, and the space was absolutely beautiful. The staff was friendly and easy to work with. We also had some of our guests stay on site in Mountain View and Pond View as the wedding was at a residence near by. The rooms were clean and quaint. Nothing fancy but a good value.

Google
Well groomed, nice long runs. The bad, it takes too long to convert Indy pass to catamount ticket at a cost of $5 each. Never had to pay this anywhere else. The lift is slow and half of the runs were closed. They have 100s of snow making machines, yet not a single one was on. Yes it was plenty cold today to make snow. It has potential but management needs to do a better job of making more snow and opening all runs. I get it, you can’t charge more if everything is open but you have bare minimum open half way thru January. Kinda disappointing.

My wife and I drove up from Philadelphia for wedding anniversary to go zip lining and it did not disappoint. It was raining but still a great time. We did the course twice and loved every minute of it.

My son Andy and I did the 1-mile, dual zipline together. It was the second most fun, exciting, and thrilling thing I've ever done! (The first was sky-diving from 15,000 feet, which Andy and I also did together!) The Catamount guides were extremely professional, kind and knowledgeable, and never made me feel old -- even though I am! This is a truly worthwhile experience for Berkshire residents as well as visitors, and I recommend it for anyone. You do have to have some arm strength, the ability to hike a very short distance with heavy equipment on your back, and little or no fear of heights. Andy and I are both uneasy about heights, but the zipline looked like so much fun that we were able to overcome it -- and it exceeded all our expectations. It was an amazing, electrifying adventure!

Had a great summer visit to Catamount last weekend. Everyone was so friendly -- it was more like visiting a friend's home than going to a resort. (Of course, my friends don't charge me $15 for a lift ride...they charge $25.) Anyway, we did take the scenic lift ride to the top; the view was great. On Saturday night they had a free blues concert that was awesome. The bar was open; there was a tent to keep you out of the sun, and folks brought coolers and listened to the music. The wife and I want to come back in the winter and ski this joint. Thanks Catamount!

Had a beautiful 80° Sunday afternoon zipping (2x) the Catamounts zips. The 'Catamonsta' (changing your name to suit my North Shore of Mass/Southern NH roots) was an awesome record setting zip going for a distance of over 5000' of zipping. Depending on what chair lift they use (we seemed to get the one with a bit more of an uphill hike) be prepared for a small albeit UPHILL hike with you carrying your own trolley et al around . Additional approx 20#. Was NOT prepared for that. I zipped ALL over, and that was a first. Get those weighted steps in. The second time was a breeze. I think I felt I had to keep up with my group the first time, and I was 11 rider out of 11. The second time, it was at my leisure. Much better. The 'workers ' ....if you can call them that have such a great fun attitude but balanced nicely with safety!. Even the blonde woman running the fire 🔥 chair lift that had the music blasting and had me dancing in my seat was the bomb. What a great job they ALL did. @Catamount zip you were great. The man that zipped near us tracked us @ 56 mph. Like speed and heights this is for you. If not you need to do it at least once. I loved the 2x deal. @Catamount #catamount the ONLY thing you could do better was to add MORE lines. Thats NOT enough!

Rocky Racoon

Google
We played there for the Summer Concert Series....and then we experienced the Catamonster Zip. What a fantastic place for the family and friends The staff is as cordial and friendly and helpful as anywhere we've been. If you have young skiers or love the outdoors...get to this hidden gem!! You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
The rental process was extremely smooth and from start to finish, took barely 10 minutes. However, parking is the annoying part. Unless you get there before 10am, you will have to find some parking spot somewhere that might not even be an actual designed parking spot. Inside the park, the trails were a bit icy and quite a bit of traffic on the green trails, but surprisingly, lines were just a few minutes long. The lodge area was clean but the bathrooms were pretty dirty--both of them. I don't think this is beginner friendly mountain as there's not much of a middle ground between baby learning slopes and the greens.

Yelp
Skiing is usually ok but every time I come here the lift ticket situation is somehow worse and more disorganized than the time before. Such a disorganized mess.

Yelp
Great little mountain that is closer than you realize. New lodge, New food, fast lifts, what's not to love? Very clean facilities good little kid areas to learn. It's our favorite day tripper mountain so we come on a regular basis.

Yelp
My favorite ski resort in the area - come here almost weekly and the lodge, parking, and triails are great for beginner or intermediate skiers! The price is very reasonable. My go to ski resort!

Yelp
Catamount is a great mountain, whether you're teaching your kids (or yourself!) to ski or you're looking for some decent steeps in the Berkshires. And now that they have a new tubing park for the 2022-2023 season, there really is something for everyone. Almost half their mountain is dedicated to beginner and gentle intermediate terrain and is served by two chairlifts, one of which has an optional mid-mountain stop. They have three magic carpet lifts and a centrally-located learning area. Best of all, they offer very reasonably priced half and full day "mountain cats" programs for kids just learning. As of this review, the half day is $125 for three hours (including a snack break w/ provided hot cocoa & snacks), and the full day is $215 for 6.5 hours (includes lunch & snacks). Considering other mountains charge similar prices for a 90-minute group that includes nothing else, and this is a great deal, especially if you're looking to take some kid-free laps! The other side of the mountain (near/across the NY border) is the true summit and is served by two fixed chairlifts. Off those lifts, you'll find mostly intermediate to advanced terrain, with four double black expert trails offering some good (albeit brief) challenge as you work your way down. Beware that Catamount has no high speed chairlifts at all, but they have a 1,000 foot vertical and the mountain face is pretty steep so the chair ride isn't too long. Staff here are really friendly and the mountain is small and cozy enough it seems everyone knows each other. We enjoyed some live music in the lodges as we took our lunch break one day. The snow tubing park is brand new this year (22/23 season) and is a nice departure from other places we've been. First off, tickets are $25 per two hour session which is the lowest price in the Berkshires. Next, the ride is long and fast! The lanes are also wide allowing you to ricochet off the walls (think of a bowling lane with the bumpers up) rather than just a tube's width. So each ride really is different/unique and keeps your interest for the full time. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the carpet lift takes you from the true bottom all the way to the top, so walking is minimal in between rides down. They had a few pit fires set up and have bathrooms and a food truck on site too. My only critique would be the muddy parking lot, which should be filled in with gravel and/or paved but the tubing is so new, I suspect they will further improve as time moves on. Thanks to Catamount for another great trip with our kiddos, and to Chloe, Gabby and the rest of the mountain cats crew for helping teach our two girls (3 & 5) how to ski! See you again soon!

Yelp
Decent mountain but not looking so great this season just like almost every other mountain in the area this year. I came to cut them out on Presidents' Day weekend and it looked as if it was the end of the season in terms of how much snow there was. Several trails Were just dead grass. There were actually a good number of trails open though, enough to fill the day but it just looks so barren. That's no fault of their own, this winter has been very mild. The dining area is very cute. It's a huge cafeteria like building that has live music. And their outdoor fire pits are free. Don't need to rent them, they are just first come first serve. I would say if all the slopes were open, the price of this ski lift ticket might be worth it. But with the poor winter that we are having, I think they are pretty expensive and it might be better to go to a smaller mountain that has the capability of producing snow for all their slopes

Yelp
Family style mountain retreat. Just enough mountain to satisfy every member of the family. Personable and friendly staff, good amenities. The only downside is the number of times this mountain is closed during warm Spells and rainy weather.

Yelp
Great family owned resort. With COVID, they have limited availability, but purchasing tickets (and renting gear) online is seamless. Due to the weather, limited (mostly green and blue) runs were available. Agree with another reviewer that it's mostly honed towards skiers. The lift drop offs are steep - can you please add more snow so it's more of a gentle descent especially on the green lifts?? And the longer greens have lots of flat sections which are easy for a snowboarder to get stuck on. Having to unclip and scoot to a descent was a little frustrating! But loved it was in NY, family owned and not as crowded as other NY resorts. Lift operators and lodge staff were very friendly and helpful too. If you bring your own food, be ready to eat in your car during Covid. Gear prep / storage is in your car now too. Be safe and enjoy!

Yelp
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!!! This place used to be a sweet berkshire mountain - not perfect, and yes a little run down, but sweet. What seems to be arrogant new ownership came in and bought the mountain a few years back to flip and develop it and completely trainwrecked it in the process. It shows in the new every day experience here. Promises of new lifts, high end snowmaking, large scale projects etc etc. They have screwed up nearly every one, all delayed by multiple seasons leaving mountain stripped of things it needs like adequate lift service and snow. Prices continue to go up, surely to fund these new developments, as season after season goes by where the mountain cant deliver. When you show up to this place youll likely be highly disappointed by bad conditions/few trails open due to poor snowmaking (despite what they portray online), massive crowds, extremely long lift lines, etc. Little to no lift line organization, creating headaches and frustration for all. Not to mention the safety hazard of lines literally going UP THE HILL at times last season, as skiers are coming down. This was a result of overcrowding last year after another promise of a new lift failed. They couldnt replace the old lift on time (again) so there was no new lift, no old lift, nothing. They boast new trails that will rarely ever open due to their horrific snowmaking. It was frigidly cold all week and all other mountains in the Berkshires are open with a variety of terrain in great condition. Catamount is telling everyone they have 17 trails open with snowmaking - but oddly today there seemed to only be 2-3 ways down the hill, all of which were icy and in bad shape. Employees that have been here for years have been dropping like flies due to the new regime which completely sucks. In addition, one of these said new owners was incredibly rude, belittling, and demeaning to the team of coaches (many of whom had been there many years prior to the arrival of the new regime) who take time out of their busy lives out of the passion in their hearts to work hard with the kids every weekend. Just to speak to the values and integrity of this place. All they do is concoct excuses and lies to deceive the public regarding their mountain-ops failures. They spend more time talking on social media than they do trying to help fix this place. It was so bad last year they legitimately sent out an official memo letting everyone know that the toilets could not be flushed after every use due to some snowmaking water shortage. They literally asked their paying customers to let their waste build up in the toilets, ensuring us that a staff member would circle through to flush the toilets every 10 minutes. What the actual hell?!!?! The intensity of this review can be attributed to the extreme frustration that comes with each season, for about 3 consecutive seasons now of being told that next season will be better. They can't get their act together and its offensive to their customers who pay good money to have fun here. Deeply disappointing to a family that has skied here every single weekend for years and loved it. Ignore the positive PR on their social media, its all a front. Go to any other mountain in the berkshires and you'll most likely find excellent conditions. None of them seem to be trainwrecking anywhere near as bad as this place. They certainly won't be deceiving you as badly on their socials. RIP the old Catamount that used to provide a fun, great experience. Guess the new ownership isn't all its cracked up to be because they just can't seem to pull it together - what a shame.

Yelp
Watch out for credit card charges. They charged my card. Cancelled our ski reservations because they had no snow (Butternut had lots of snow) They told me they'd refund my card in full. Nobody answers emails or returns phone calls. After being given the runaround they finally said they'd refund the money on my card. And only partially refunded it. I'd say they are a bit disorganized to say the least. Wont ever give this place my credit card again.

Yelp
Fantastic ski resort! A coworker recommended this place to me so last season we decided to try it. A little farther than Mohawk but the facilities are much nicer for sure. And they also do discounted night skiing. Will definitely come here more often next year.

Yelp
Great kids' beginner lessons. We had a full day lesson at another mountain, whose ski instructors informed me that it has the best ski school in the area. But my 5 and 6year olds left wo having learned much and didn't want to return. We went to Catamount for group lessons the following day and their approach is more fun -- they have groups of instructors helping all the kids and it's less formal. My scared/crabby kids enjoyed their lessons against all odds. And even made some progress actually learning to ski. Also, Molly was helpful in resolving issues that arose. Worth noting that the bunny hill is pretty flat so is difficult to progress off of it.

David R.

Yelp
Catamount has improved a lot in recent years -- the lifts, the snowmaking, the grooming. It's definitely worth the drive up from NYC. However, the online booking system is a shambles. More often than not, even when I have booked online, I end up having to wait half an hour in line to speak with a clueless staff member who can't explain the foul-up.

Yelp
This place is awesome! We just went last weekend to see a concert and ride the zip line. That zipline is awesome! So much fun! The concert was great, too! We saw Marc Robarge of o.a.r. in an acoustic set and it was so good. The bar was open for some local bears and there was a taco truck outside with some really tasty food. I hope they keep having this concert series!

Liane M.

Yelp
Went on the Zipline course this week. The staff is super friendly and patient. And the course itself is amazing... longest run in the country at a mile, with the most amazing views. Will definitely do this again

Yelp
LINE CUTTERS took most of the fun away... This past weekend I came to Catamount for a day of skiing/snowboarding. Upon arrival it was obvious Catamount had updated their ticket system to a card, which automatically opens the gates while getting on the lifts. This was nice, as it in theory makes getting on much quicker. Unfortunately Catamounts lack of organization makes this a nightmare. Kids jump the lines constantly because there are little to no barriers. You stand on line for 15-20 min and watch as large groups just cut in front of you, avoiding the gates altogether. After having this happen to me countless times I complained to the lift operator (who was simpathetic) but stated it was not his job to enforce line cutters and jumpers. Catamount has many "security guards" but they just stand around chit chatting rather than patrol the lines. What should have been a nice day at the mountain turned into extended wait times and frustration. I love skiing here but catamount really needs to do something about this issue. Put one security guard at each lift (I believe there is only 3 main ones) They are needed more here than grouped up in your parking lot.

Zuleika M.

Yelp
The place is super remote. Not all employees wear masks indoors. They do not help you if you have difficulty, or to put on the equipment. One of the stairs was not working. There was too much mud when walking. Badly made coffee.

Yelp
not much parking, trails were closed, but overall decent slopes

Yelp
They cancelled for the day right after they opened, we were already there. They should've given earlier notice so we could've gone to another mountain. We came back 2 days later and they massively overbooked. The lines were 3 hours long total to get cards, boots, and skis. We and many people decided to get a refund, and customer service messed up and failed to refund us for a bunch of stuff. 0 stars if I could.
google avatar

Kristina B.

Yelp
Came on a Wednesday, first week kids back to school! I.t was a perfect day, great conditions and no wait for the lift! Got the tickets for christmas from my aunt glad we went! Guy in the ski shop fixed my binding for free just a loose screw but they were super helpful!

David K.

Yelp
I would really like to give a nice review of Catamount Ski Area. The staff is friendly and they have invested in a new lodge and outdoor patio. It is also the kind of smaller non corporate ski area I like. The midweek price is nice. The reason I can't write a more positive review is the shocking lack of passive safety equipment on the slopes. The ultimate priority in customer experience is keeping the customer safe. Unlike other ski areas there is no netting on sides of trails to prevent a skier from going off trail and into woods or snow making equipment. There are numerous light, lift and snow making stanchions on or next to the trails and none of them have any impact absorbing material or netting protecting an errant skier. This is not a problem of a few unprotected obstacles. The entire ski area is devoid any skier protection. Although statistically rare people die every year skiing-often by running into hard immovable things. This negligence of skier safety seems to be a hard hearted management decision to sacrifice skier safety for cost. It is a tragedy waiting to happen.

Yelp
Reading the bad reviews somehow became a source of entertainment for me this morning ! As someone raised by Vermont Patents ,I grew up in Maine, the Adirondacks then NYC then the Catskills whom has snowboarded on the reg Telluride, Taos, JacksonHole, Jay and sugar etc etc... People complaining about Ice ... yeah that's an East Coast issue not a Mountain issue For the people complaining about lines ...lines on weekends I'm assuming are the citidiots.... because anyone local knows before Covid there was lines and now it's even worse because of the citidiots. Locals aren't going to complain so If you don't like lines .. go during the weekday. Super simple solution! This place is a gem compared to Windham . Try the lines there :)

Yelp
The food is good but the prices are absolutely insane, I refuse to pay thiss much for fast food. The chicken tenders and french fries are 12.50 and u get about 3 medium sized strips. Absolutely ridiculous and I expected more from the food court

Skylar D.

Yelp
I went there on 1/13/21. This was my second time skiing and if your interested in skiing here beware of icy if your not able to handle it or then at least go down a green to get a feel for it. The blacks and blue trails are just a bit icy in a few places. Overall it was a great experience. Food court prices are overpriced and fast food is 30min-1hrs away so bring your own food unless your not eating there. * Night Skiing until 8:30pm unless otherwise* Anyways good luck and have fun!

Carrie B.

Yelp
I had a really bad experience here today in regard to covid precautions. Lots of people not wearing masks, including one man who refused to put his on when asked him nicely to. We felt unsafe and left early. The lodge (where the bathroom is) is full of unmasked people eating, so we were forced to use porta-potties when we had to pee. A few signs here and there reminding people to wear masks, but otherwise no enforcement. Also no parameters on what kinds of masks are effective. Buffs are not! Neither are masks with literal holes under the nose part. I am local to the area and Catamount has been my main place to ski since I was a kid. I was really looking forward to doing something fun and safe this winter, but now I'm not sure if I'm coming back.
google avatar

Leighann F.

Yelp
The fact that I did not fall and break my face here is above all the best news I can deliver about Catamount. Excellent, varied runs, a bit on the icy side, but well maintained throughout the day. Tons of kids and families on the weekends and plenty of room in the bar--for those who know their place at a ski resort! Weekend rental ski gear and lift pass: $92
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome place to go visit, great staff. They are extremely friendly and they always smile. I fell a couple of times getting off of the lift and every time I fell, a staff member asked if I was ok... My gripe.. this place seems geared towards skiers, not snowboarders. 1) the lift drop offs were so steep. I couldn't get my footing on the board in time before it was time to get off of the lift 2) little skiers everrrrryyyyy where! It was tough trying to get into a rhythm because someone would always end up in your way. That's just my gripe but this place is awesome

Aaron T.

Yelp
We had a poor experience here a couple weeks ago. To their credit, they refunded our entire ticket and rental package after we stood in line for almost two hours. Disorganized and poor COVID mitigation. They apparently built cabins for eating outside, but we didn't get anywhere near them. I hate to give a bad review during COVID, but this place was really badly managed.

Margaret G.

Yelp
We were there this past Saturday. Long and crowded lift lines. Lift attendants with no masks on. Many people in the lift lines with no masks on, and no one in charge asking them to put one on. We felt completely unsafe and left after 2 runs unfortunately, especially since we drove an an hour and a half to get there. Very disappointed.

Yelp
The lessons for kids are fantastic. We had our kids in lessons for two days and they have really accomplished alot in a short time. Great for families, they cater to every age group. It is a little older but the place is clean and very well run.

Eric R.

Yelp
I am updating my review of Catamount. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I am a season ticket holder. I was up there for three days skiing earlier this week and I can honestly say it has never been worse. Snow making has been non existent this year. Half the mountain was never open. They have only one lift servicing the more challenging right side of the mountain resulting in ridiculous lift lines. All the surrounding mountains were open this week with the normal man made snow coverage. They closed Catamount Wednesday/Thursday and if they don't get snow this weekend it will be closed for the year. On top of that they were still charging people $99 day rates when down the road Butternut was charging $35. They don't even check lift tickets on the left side of the mountain so people are skiing for free? What has happened to this ski mountain? To further add insult they never opened the tubing park,. They failed on renovating the Swiss Butte hotel on time. Their food prices are ridiculous. The fire pits are great because you can't ski at Catamount anymore so you might as well warm up before you're ride home. This place is a total failure and management is incompetent. Please sell this mountain again so real ski professionals can clean up this mess. Oh, by the way I love the ski mountain security can they also hire someone that knows how to turn on a snow blowing machine? I encourage others to share their experience of this year, especially season ticket holders.

Chucky M.

Yelp
Two weeks later and no response. I actually believed that the owners of Catamount would care about safety. This was a safety issue. In addition, the response of the staff was abusive. This was my first visit to Catamount and my last. I hope that other people who consider Catamount take a look at this and choose to patronize an establishment where the behavior of staff and their customer's safety are important. Catamount Ski Area is certainly not the place I'd go.

Yelp
Yes, it's small but compared to other mountains within 3 hours from the city I found this one much more manageable for my particular situation - a snowboarding dad with a 9 and 5 years old, who are both decent but not expert skiers, and who on occasion get a bit nervous on lifts (not trails though, thankfully). Many older/smaller resorts on the east coast have lifts that have significant drops out of the lift, especially mid-stations, but tops as well. The more gentle drops off the lifts at Catamount -- as well as the fact that the primary lifts are a quad and triple respectively - made this a easier to handle mountain for us. As previous reviewers mentioned, the food is very pricy in the lodge.

Yelp
I came here the weekend after Christmas which was in the 40s and it was a still a pretty decent experience. There was times where I wanted to take off my jacket. It reminded me of snowboarding in California... warm, yet snow on the ground. There wasn't as many trails open here in comparison to the other mountains nearby but it wasn't as busy either. There was never too long of wait lines for the lifts. It's also much cheaper than the other mountains, which makes it worth it. I found a coupon for 2 adults for $60, no holiday/weekend restrictions. You can't beat that. I'm not that great of a snowboarder so I don't need such a big place to go to. This gets the job done at a great price. This was just right for me! Also, I took a group lesson for $42ish/1.5 hours. And when I got to my lesson, there wasn't anyone else at my skill level so I ended up with a private lesson! What a deal. I felt that I got much more comfortable after the lesson too. What also made Catamount stand out compared to other places I've been to is the super friendly staff. There was a lady working one of the lifts that drop off midway to the top. She was sooo energetic and was smiling each and every time we passed her. It wasn't just her either, everyone just seemed happy to be there! Makes it a much better experience!

Yelp
Decent skiing, relatively close to my home in Westchester County, about 1.5hrs. I'm a late 50's, ex ski racer and I find this mountain offers enough variety to keep me satisfied. Some steep, if that's your fancy, but the majority of the runs are typical east coast rollers following a treeline. They do a good job of grooming and the crowd is pretty friendly, not so stuck up like some other Vermont mountains I could name (but won't).

Yelp
What a fun place to ski! The beginner area, with mostly green circle trails, is in Massachusetts. Most of the intermediate and expert terrain is in New York. There is very little here that is modern. That includes the lifts, lodge and shop. But, everything works, is relatively clean, and the employees are friendly and very helpful. We had a GREAT time skiing at Catamount.
google avatar

Beth B.

Yelp
There are two types of people who are customers at ski mountains. Skiers and non-skiing place holders. As for the skiing, it was fine as a first-run-of-the-season mountain for my 10 and 12 year olds. But an airless planet would have been more comfortable for their non-skiing place holder. (That would be this reviewer.) It is old, uncomfortable, crowded, and unjustifiably expensive. I get it... they charge a lot because that's the appropriate business model for a food services company at the base of a snowy mountain. But don't take me for granted, and don't hire aliens. That's just wrong. For all the employees you're paying, Catamount, the least you could do is have someone actually running the joint who understands the value in caring for the patrons. Bah-humbug!

Yelp
Went here for the Adventure Park. It was a lot of fun for a big group of us. We climbed all over the platforms wires and zip lines. This place is a good spot for beginners and intermediate climbers and such. Most of our group did not have much experience but were able to traverse the majority of platforms. The harder levels of obstacles is pretty damn challenging too. The black diamond and double black diamonds were hard enough so that even the ones of us that had a pretty good amount of climbing experience had to cheat on a couple obstacles because they seemed too tough, especially after expending energy on the previous ones. All & all we had a blast. Their safety system is pretty awesome, in that our group members afraid of heights even felt comfortable after one run. Sometimes the gear gets in the way during some of the more challenging obstacles, but we all had a blast, so that's not much of a negative.

Yelp
When we were there, we had friendly staff, expensive food, and a few nice runs down nicely kept trails. One reviewer talked about not bringing the camera but I had to disagree with his recommendation. The little pocket Canon camera came in handy and captured as evident all your friends and family members' falls and wipe-outs.. great black mailing materials and a laugh afterward. Try to get to the self service lodge or the cafeteria areas by 11:30 am before the ski school finished at 12:30 noon.. so you would have a better chance of getting a table. The problem was that people left their stuff on the seats and tables early, and as result, it was hard to find empty seats after you got your food. We went to their restaurant because of the crowd on the first day and the damage was around $140 plus tip for 7 people.. okay but expensive for fries and hamburgers with coke. We also saw a lot of people (locals) brought their own food (a great idea), but an option not available for us weekend visitors. Overall, a positive and good experience as every staff was helpful and pleasant to deal with. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
Had the best lesson ever here. It was late in the season and in the day so I was the only person signed up for a group lesson. They assigned me one of many instructor he was very knowledgeable and helpful. Since it was the end of the day, the instructor was nice enough to keep helping me out well after my one hour lesson was up. I've had lessons at three other places and this was by far the best. Were it only a one hour lesson it still would've been the best. As for the slopes, well this was my very first time on a snowboard so I only tried out the bunny hill, which was wide and uncrowded, but my bf and his little bro seemed to be having fun on the harder slopes. In fact, my bf suggested this place to me.

Yelp
I had a great experience. Went last night to the night ski all employees were very helpful and polite. The guys in the ski room had a good sense of humor. This was my first time skiing and I cant thank Gracie and i believe her name was Heidi enough they helped me get down as a team and made the experience fun when i was ready to give up .

Yelp
I went to Catamount last weekend with my 63 year old parents and my 8 and 10 year old. The spring weather and perfect snow conditions were heavenly. The well groomed trails and 3 open lifts allowed for lots of variety. We had a ball out there. The chair lift operators were fun and friendly as well as the lodge food staff, equipment rental staff, and ticket booth folks. The automated ski passes were pretty cool. The updated Berkshire lodge is super nice with good food choices. I look forward to seeing the new base lodge when it's done. The new management is putting a lot of effort into updating and upgrading the resort. The one thing that bothered me was the super rude bartender in the Berkshire lodge bar. Catamount should consider a better apres ski environment with good music, cheer, activities, themes and entertainment....perhaps a live guitar player, local bands, etc. Family friendly mountains can still have civilized apres ski, it's part of the skiing experience! The bartender stood out as a bad hire who was unlike her friendly coworkers that we encountered. She certainly killed the vibe of the amazing ski day. Catamount could make a lot of money off of apres ski and make it fun!

Yelp
Compared to park city it lacks, but some nice trails and the food made it a good first time experience

Yelp
This resort is nothing compared to Butternut or Jiminy Peak...on the mountain or off. First, we got there upon opening only to find out that most of the chair lifts weren't running yet because they still had to groom the slopes. So we waited and waited. Once we got skiing, there were some decent runs but all the lifts were super-slow. The lodge and food was also subpar compared to the other resorts. However, those aren't the main reasons we won't be back. The main reason is due to the way we were treated by some of the staff. The woman who was selling us our tickets for lessons was so rude to us and made us feel so uncomfortable...we have honestly never been treated like that by anyone in customer service before. When we notified her manager, she, in turn, just defended the woman selling tickets. It was honestly so bizarre. Everyone else at Catamount such as the ski instructors were very nice. But those two women really got our day off to a terrible start. I'm not going to name names...I'm not looking to get anyone in trouble. But I will never be back to Catamount. That was an experience I NEVER want to repeat.

Yelp
Have not visited this resort and will not go at this point. I bought 2 lessons last year during winter break for my kids. Canceled the week prior to visiting and was told on the phone we could use it this year. When I tried to book a new reservation this year, we were told that we had not credits since the lessons were used. So either they didn't cancel our reservation or they don't really allow credits but pretend they do or something else. At this point, unless they fix this, I don't see why I wouldn't stick to the other mountains in the area like Jiminy Peak or Windham across the Hudson.

Yelp
Been skiing since 1959. This is one of the best groomed and maintained ski areas in the East. Smaller but challenging area great for tuning your skills. Food center hasn't gotten it yet though...very pricey but you can bring your own. Midweek no lines and great discounts. Practice here then go to Stratton, Tremblant or Whiteface. Good people run this place too and always nu ce to patronize nuce folks.

Yelp
Have been going to Catamount for years - both my kids learned to ski (then snowboard) here. Excellent Mountain Cat program for the little ones, with a natural progression from magic carpets to lifts. Great place for day trips (if you get a seasons pass its really a bargain), and enough variety to progress from beginner to competent skier. Except for midday holidays, one never waits in a line. If you want more skiing, you can stay into the night session. One will want to add other trips to bigger destination resorts into the mix, but this is a great, inexpensive, easy to get to place for many days of the season without breaking the bank. P.S. I too can recommend the Adventure Park climbing in the trees. I have both done it myself, and just had a picnic in the woods watching while my kids and their teenage friends have done the courses.

Yelp
My first New England ski experience did not come close to anything I'm used to out west. But I had fun, decent enough place I suppose.

Yelp
I went to Catamount on MLK weekend and I have to write about the food situation. On Saturday, the hot chocolate machine was BROKEN. No hot drinks for the kids. How is THAT possible? Don't you make it the old fashioned way? Ridiculous. Then, on Sunday it was more crowded than I have ever seen it...so we went to the Taconic Lodge. We brought our own sandwiches. The hot chocolate machine worked in the lodge, but there was a huge line because there was only one person working the food area. The poor girl was working the register, dishing out the nachos, replenishing the supplies...everything. Of course, after waiting on line for 20 minutes, they were OUT of nachos, were down to two hot dogs and the soups were congealed masses of slop (at $6.25 a bowl!). This was a 1pm mind you..... My only point is that no one expects haute cuisine at a ski lodge, but on the busiest weekend of the ski season, you'd think they would put some resources into making it a pleasant experience for customers. This was ridiculous and I was seriously thinking of trying a season pass at Butternut or Windham next ski season. The skiing was fine, thought the lift lines were longer than ever and relatively chaotic.
