We spent Christmas and New Year's Eve in Catania. One of the city's attractions is the fish market located near the Duomo square. Officially, the market takes place every day except Sunday, but you can also find a few fish stalls on Sundays. Usually Sundays are flea/antique markets.
The fish market is a spectacle in itself, with vendors loudly praising their wares and trying to get the best price for their wares. As I said, the market is held from morning until lunchtime, then the area is cleared and becomes a regular pedestrian area. So if you are in Catania and are interested in fish or seafood, it is worth a visit.
