A stunning cathedral right in the heart of the old town. The architecture is beautiful, and the interior has a peaceful, spiritual atmosphere. A must-see when walking through Cartagena.

Truly breathtaking, this colonial gem is a lasting symbol of Cartagena's rich history. With its towering columns, detailed mosaics, and grand, peaceful atmosphere, the Catedral de Santa Catalina de Alejandría instantly makes an impression. We happened to visit during Sunday Mass, which made the experience even more special. I don't speak Spanish, but the beautiful prayers and hymns still pulled me in, creating a deep, spiritual atmosphere. When the service ended, I saw people hugging, comforting each other—some with tears in their eyes. It was incredibly touching and something I won't forget. Just outside, the city is buzzing with street vendors, music, and color. But the moment you step into the cathedral, it feels like a different world—quiet, reflective, and full of meaning. Whether you're into architecture, history, or just looking for a memorable experience, this place is definitely worth a visit.

The Catedral de Santa Catalina de Alejandría is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of the city. As a lover of historical architecture, visiting this cathedral was an unforgettable experience. The stunning Gothic design, adorned with intricate carvings and towering spires, left me in awe from the moment I laid eyes on it. Stepping inside, I was enveloped by a sense of tranquility and reverence. The interior is equally breathtaking, with soaring vaulted ceilings, magnificent stained glass windows, and ornate altars. Exploring the nooks and crannies of this sacred space felt like a journey through time, each corner revealing new marvels of craftsmanship and devotion. The cathedral's central location makes it easily accessible, and the surrounding area is filled with charming streets, bustling cafes, and other cultural attractions. Whether you're a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or simply seeking a moment of quiet reflection, the Catedral de Santa Catalina de Alejandría is a must-visit destination. I highly recommend taking a guided tour to fully appreciate the rich history and significance of this architectural masterpiece. And don't forget to bring your camera – the photo opportunities are truly spectacular. A visit to this cathedral is sure to leave a lasting impression and is a highlight of any trip to the area.

An impressive cathedral, inside and out, in the city center, with exposed coral stone columns and arches. Our walking tour has now reached the Cathedral of Cartagena. The brightly painted Bell Tower is easily seen from many vantage points in the city. The cathedral was constructed between the years of 1577 and 1612, and designed after other cathedrals in Spain and the Canary Islands. The ornate, brightly painted and highly decorated 10-foot-tall doors are always open during day so pilgrims can enter without charge. The pulpit is constructed of rare and valuable Italian Carrara marble. The golden colored palanquin with four carrying poles, displayed inside is used to carry a large statue of a saint while in procession.

I was there for a destination wedding, it's beautiful, very detailed wood work.

Impressive from the outside (we did not enter), this Cathedral is near to the Palacia de la Inquisicion and visible from the execution area as well as from the street views shown below. Lovelt statues amongst the columns at the front of the church.

Worth visiting. Beautiful church. The interior is whitewashed with exposed coral stone columns and arches. With nice wooden ceiling. Has a beautiful retablo and large bass relief station of the cross on the sides. There is a small photo display of the restoration works done on the church. Has a very picturesque bell tower. Lots of vendors selling paintings in front of the church. Mostly open for a 12 o'clock mass.
