Catedral Metropolitana de Fortaleza

I saw some people mentioning vendors trying to push their products, but our experience wasn't like that. It was quite peaceful inside, and you have a great view of the stained glass windows. But I agree there's nothing around pointing to the history of the building, which is a shame.

Gorgeous exterior. Simple interior. The Metropolitana Cathedral is absolutely gorgeous and worth the visit! I will say, the outside was more beautiful than the inside. The cathedral is a wonderful place to sit down, relax, and recharge however the interior aesthetic is very simple and even run-down in many areas. Construction is currently underway as of March 2020 so hopefully this improves the visitor experience. Still a 5/5 in my book. A must-see when visiting Fortaleza. Just watch out for beggars outside the main entrance!

Beautiful place. But there is nothing that tells you the history of the place, how it was built, etc. like a sign or paper at the entrance. You need to search the internet yourself. And there are sellers around trying to force you to buy things, putting objects on you to force you to buy. It's not worth the visit.

Magnificent, worth a look inside & out, a prayer or meditation, and donation, if able … soft, recorded Gregorian chants so soothing … so glad we popped in
