Beautiful cathedral in the heart of Kilkenny. I recommend the guided audio tour. An incredible amount of history within the Canice Cathedral. We opted for the cathedral and tower combination tour. If you are afraid of heights or have any balance/knee issues, the tower is definitely not for you.

Great cathedral in Kilkenny and well worth a visit, as well as the adjoining tower. Can recommend a visit.

Beautiful cathedral with an unusual addition re the tower, which we paid, in order to climb. Great views from the top. Advise not suitable for more "portly" visitors, due to narrowness of the tower, itself

Beautiful place with a nearby car park. I visited on a bank holiday, but unfortunately, the church and tower were closed. I’ll definitely return for a full visit.

Visiting the cathedral was one of the most beautiful and peaceful moments of my trip. The architecture was absolutely stunning, from the soaring ceilings to the intricate stained glass. There was a stillness inside that made you slow down and just feel the history and the reverence of the space. Truly awe-inspiring.

Built between 1202 and 1285, St Canice's has been preserved in its original style and form. Worship has taken place here for over 800 years. See the wonderful stained glass and the largest collection of ancient monuments. They have a lovely gift shop, toilets, wheelchair access. Information leaflets are available in 15 languages. Group and guided tours available by booking in advance.

A beautiful 800+ year gothic cathedral wth a rich history. Bonus - the Red Book of Ossory was on display when we visited.

We purchased our tickets in advance but I'm not sure I would recommend doing that. We were unable to do the full tour due to a rehearsal that was happening inside however, it was still a wonderful stop and the music from the rehearsal was very pleasant. I would like to return to finish the tour we started. The teenagers enjoyed climbing the tower and while the cost of €16 seems a bit steep, it's important to remember that it goes to maintaining the site as well. The walk from Kilkenny Castle to the Cathedral is a good way to stretch your legs and see a good portion of the town.

Yelp
A medieval Cathedral that has been restored and is still used for worship. It's beautiful, tasteful and the audio tour was incredibly informative not only about the cathedral, but also about Kilkenny history. I was unsure about doing an audio tour of an active worship space, but 10/10 recommend!! It's fascinating, and the self guided audio tour is top notch! While you're here if you're not claustrophobic or scared of heights be sure to climb the tower. It was the highlight of our trip to Kilkenny.... And the thing I didn't know or think I could do until I did it. It's basically several ladders... not as bad as I thought, but not for the faint of heart. View it worth it!

Yelp
St Canice's Cathedral is a magnificent gothic church that has been well preserved over time. St Canice's is an Anglo-Norman Cathedral of the Church of Ireland and part of the Anglican/Episcopalian communion. We came here for the Tour, but wandered in on the Installation of The Rev Peter Tarleton to the Prebend of Blackrath (Dean?) by the Bishop. It was a grand affair, that included Choral Evensong with Mary's Magnificat and the Nunc Dimittis. If you have never heard these two piece sung, please go to either the Apple or Android music store and listen to them. It was an incredible musical experience in this echoing church. We stayed afterwards to visit their museum in the back of the church, that includes a model of the church and city of Kilkenny. We did skip the 100 to 150 steps to the top of their famous Round Tower. Our knees weren't up to the task, after a day of walking throughout Kilkenny. Maybe next time. LOL Enjoy!

Yelp
We didn't plan to visit this cathedral but stumbled upon it while wandering around. It's really interesting architecturally and historically. There's quite a bit to read here. The interior is spectacular. The round tower is worth a climb for views of Kilkenny but the steps are awfully steep.

Yelp
It was a super windy and spooky evening when I arrived this Cathedral. There are not many tourists around. I took many pictures by the graveyard and some by the caved door. The wind kept blew up my skirt as if the spirit was kicking me out of the place. The small side door was locked, so I thought I was locked out and was scared to tears. But good thing the main door remained opened. I heard this cathedral has well-preserved arts. Too bad I was there too late to see it. It was definitely an interesting visiting experience as one will say when they visited a medieval castle like cathedral.

Yelp
Best site in Kilkenny, the church itself is spectacular and the option to climb the ancient tower is a nice way to mix it up.

Yelp
My boyfriend like this castle even more than St. Patrick's in Dublin. I noticed they had activities for kiddos. They provide you with a well organized map with interesting explanations for the various artifacts in the church. You MUST climb the Round Tower outside. That has some of the best views that I've seen in all of Dublin - better views even than Kilkenny Castle - plus it's fun. It's 127 (around that) steps to the top. It mostly feels like you are climbing up wooden ladders to get there. The ladders has handrails. It was easy! This whole experience was definitely a highlight of the trip!
