Try and get a guide to take you through the Cathedral! We had a wonderful guide, Gilmar, he speaks Portuguese and French. The rich culture and historical background of the region is amazing and he can put the cathedral in the context of the local culture! Beautiful visit and worth the fee.

I was told it was the first church in Brazil, so I visited for historical/touristic reasons. But I met Mass, and that added to the beauty of the experience.

Very beautiful church with a lot of history and the surrounding area is very attractive. There is an entrée fee, but it is worth it!
