How to Visit Québec City on a Budget in 2025

"I took a guided tour of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and appreciated that it was the first Anglican church built outside Britain (consecrated in 1804) with Neoclassical architecture and a silver communion set given by King George III; guided tours cost $6 CAD and self-guided tours run for $3 CAD in July and August." - Matthew Kepnes

My friends and I were treated to a wonderfully educational tour by Jamie, who was extremely nice and entertaining. He gave us more stories and facts about the location's history that we would not have learned on the information cards. Absolutely a must to visit if you have a little time to spare. Thank you Jamie!

A beautiful cathedral with a quiet and peaceful ambiance. The interior is simple and modest, yet majestic. An added attraction was the ongoing exhibition of historic and royal artifacts from Great Britain, during our visit.

The cathedral of the holy trnity is also a rich in history landmark in the area. Inside the church you can see the architectural elegant, spiritual symbolism and the influence of British present in the early canada. Many relic are of historical value. See it by yourself you will be impressed. Here are some of my photos to share.

This is a beautiful cathedral with lots of interesting history. My friends and I were lucky enough to have an intimate tour with Jamie who was very knowledgeable about the church and its role in Québec history. He answered any of our questions far beyond expectations. If you have a passion for history or an interest in unique architecture and stained glass this is definitely worth the stop.

Gorgeous cathedral not far from Notre Dame and free to access, just like all the cathedrals in this area, all located in a busy part of the town, bustling with tourists and business alike. Beautiful, simple lines with the altar in front and the organ right above the entrance. Not many people accessing it during the week or maybe it was the late September day we visited it. Just stunning.

Yelp
HISTORIC ANGLICAN CHURCH We visited the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity located next to Place d'Armes. It is the first Anglican church built outside Great Britain. Compared to the more ornate Notre Dame Basilica de Quebec, Holy Trinity is more austere with an altar in front of a stained glass triptych and framed by walls inscribed with the Lord's Prayer and other scriptures. The church features an exhibit of gold and silver chalices and other pieces used during church services that were gifts from King George III, painted stained glass windows and a towering organ. Visitors are welcome to do self-guided tours. The church hosts community events. We enjoyed visiting an outdoor market (artwork, clothing, jewelry, crafts) held on the church grounds. We regret not having time to attend one of the organ recitals that are held at the church.

Yelp
This church is in the oldest neighborhood of North America. French people came four hundred years ago and built this neighborhood here. This church is the outcome of they try to build a new France here. I have to say it's such a lovely neighborhood. A definitely must-go place when you visit Quebec City. The church itself is pretty nice too. It's not big, but a lovely Anglican cathedral.

Yelp
Beautiful Anglican cathedral - the first built in North America. We saw a beautiful midday concert there with a mezzo-soprano and an organist playing a small organ from the 1700s. Beautiful!
