Cathedral Peak Hotel

We just want to say what an amazing experience we had staying at Cathedral Peak Hotel. The absolutely breathtaking views of the mountains and the surroundings. The fresh air. The beautiful hike walks with beautiful flowers and the waterfalls. It is an gift from our Heavenly Father. The Hotel itself is beautifully build and the lovely room we had was spacious and we felt so comfortable. The food was so delicious and the choices of food for everyone and the layout of the dining hall is comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful and we cannot forget the teatime treats, mid- morning and mid- afternoon. Also cannot forget to mention Michelle assisting us with a friendly smile in the quaint little shop. The managers and staff were super helpful and always ready to assist and give advice when needed. Our guide Samson was also very helpful, not only with the hike, but his knowledge of the birds and flowers was excellent. The bird guide was also very helpful and his knowledge of the birds was very good. Parts of the road to the hotel are being upgraded, it is a little rough, but the destination is worth the effort. Fantastic stay and most beautiful setting. Very friendly staff all over.Great food and atmosphere. Would be nice if guests would adhere to dinner dress code. Well marked hiking trails.

Visiting Cathedral Peak Hotel is a feast for the eyes. The location is magnificent and unique and the hotel is positioned perfectly in beautiful surroundings of gardens, mountains and hiking trails. The hotel is a bit dated, but clean and well run with pleasant and helpful staff. The food is good and compliments to the chefs for preparing very tasty meals three times a day. The spa is a wonderful experience especially after a day of hiking. The only negative was the carpet in our room, which had dirty stain marks, which was unsightly in an otherwise clean space. Overall it was a great experience and somewhere to look forward to going back to soon.

Attended the most magical wedding. The food is exceptional. Abundant and delicious. The staff are friendly and the setting was breathtaking. This was the brides dream venue and it did not disappoint. So many activities, it was such fun as guests got to know each other before the wedding making the wedding such fun and relaxed. Well done

This hotel is like a walk back to old English country hotels. Location is unbeatable for views and amazing hikes. Unfortunately road under construction so a not ideal gravel portion (that can be traversed by sedans)- last 20 to 30 kms. Superior rooms are well appointed with a walk in shower el beit slightly dated. Food was really good and had a great variety. Desserts were phenomenal. Staff were very helpful at arranging vegeterian options for me. The chefs - i forget the names - were very friendly and always smiling. They obliged to prepare my breakfast eggs in a separate pan for halaal requirements. The best part of this hotel are the treks and guides. I did 5 hikes Doreen falls, lake jarred, fern forest all magical. Better than falls in bali/ overseas and not overrun with instagramers. Zweli and Samson were excellent guides. The hotel has an old country house feel. Afternoon and mid morning teas. Brings back childhood memories from piggs peaks and trout Beck inn in Zimbabwe. The dinner is semi formal/ smart casual. Initially, I thought this was odd but actually was a classy experience. ||The things that could be improved include maybe a bit of a room update, the gym was basic and a bit like out of an 80s movie. It didnt bother me much as nature provided a good enough work out. This needs an update. There was a blocked gutter flooding stairs on the way to room 222. This could be a slipping hazard. ||In general this is a wonderful establishment reminiscent of a bygone era. Its suitable for guests of all ages. It has phenomenal views and is a great value option for whats included. The best part is the phenomenal hikes and walks. Hope to return soon.

After long drive along gravel roads we reached the spectacular location surrounded by mountains. Buffet food was plentiful and varied. Enjoyed the cakes mid morning and mid afternoon after walking in the hills. Guided walk to see the local rock paintings and plant life was interesting. The pool was too cold during our stay but very attractive place to chill out in the sunshine, where we enjoyed seeing the antelope and birdlife. Whilst we were out walking we returned to discover possibly baboons had stolen fruit from our bedroom so best lock the glass even when bars at windows.

I first discovered this area as a hiker, too poor to stay in the Hotel. I was so smitten I have brought my parents, wife, children and their wives/partners to the Hotel. They all love it. Hopefully they will bring my grandchildren! The combination of beautiful setting, excellent facilities and food, and lovely staff make every trip special.

Our annual trip to Cathedral Peak was once again a thoroughly enjoyable few days away, relaxing in the mountains and doing many of the walks available. The guided walks on offer are also very well done with knowledgeable and very competent staff. The hotel offers a variety of comfortable accommodation and the buffet meals outstanding with daily morning and afternoon tea breaks included. A lovely place to visit with lots to do.
