Located down a side street, almost opposite the cathedral, this hotel sits slightly back but is easy to find with its two standards adorning the entrance. The reception staff are welcoming and simply provided a key and accurate directions to the room. The room was small, being on a corner, but still had sufficient space. The decor was in good condition, with a piece of art work on the wall. Whilst I opted for a “single room”, I was pleased to see a double bed which was comfortable. The windows were sash with limited opening, presumably for safety reasons. However, there was also air-con and, hidden away in the single wardrobe, an electric fan. In addition, there was a hairdryer and iron. The bathroom was sufficiently large, with plentiful hygiene products. The one criticism was the lack of bedside reading lamp. The room lighting was limited to a low floor mounted standard lamp, though this could be relocated into a more favourable position. The breakfast (included) was pleasant and the departure straight forward.

I am glad that I wasn't the one paying for this. The room was tiny, and there's no air con or air movement even with a fan so it was a giant sweatbox. The bed didn't even really dent when I lay on it as the mattress was so firm. The window was filthy and the view barely managed to give me natural light. Finally, the culmination of this supposed "haven of luxury" was the tiniest continental breakfast choice I have ever seen (cornflakes or bran flakes or toast) and the orange and apple juice that came in tiny plastic pots, the first orange one I had taken out of the fridge had recently passed its expiry date so I binned it and got another one. The staff who were around were pleasant, but there weren't very many of them and the place felt empty.

We recently stayed at this hotel and were very impressed by the staff — they were consistently friendly, courteous, and helpful throughout our stay. The bed was also exceptionally comfortable, which made a positive difference. However, the interior of the rooms did not quite match the photos provided online. Our group stayed in three different rooms, and unfortunately, none of the thermal meters were functioning properly. The rooms were uncomfortably hot, making it difficult to fall asleep. In my own room, the washbasin was also clogged, which caused further inconvenience.

Stayed on a Saturday night and as we knew parking was limited at the hotel, we found free on street parking not far away. Our room was small but perfect for just one night away and we didn't return from our night out until late anyway. Good breakfast choices and I ordered the omelette. Staff were all friendly and great location.

Rooms clean and comfortable bed. Corridors had random items that could have been put away. Service good but no one at the bar same staff both evening and at breakfast. Polite though, so all good. Breakfast was passable, not like our last visit.

Had afternoon tea. Beautiful building lovely area. Reception staff kind. Service staff ok but a little understaffed so Service slow. Food was average at best we got meat sandwiches at first despite booking vegetarian waited ages for the vegetarian sandwiches and they were interesting one was smoky bacon mayo with tomato? the other a flavourless green spread with crispy onion. Yes that was as 🤢as it sounds. The scone and cakes were ok but shop bought. Wouldn't go back Wouldn't recommend.

Visited Cathedral Quarter Hotel overnight while visiting Derby. Greeted with a warm welcome from friendly staff, felt the calm as soon as we walked in. A beautiful building which we were told has been, Council building, Police station and a Bank. Now it's a hotel, with beautiful marble pillars. The staff were very obliging and pleasant, the bedroom was a little small but lovely and clean with everything needed. Breakfast and dinner included. The television was on in the background with beautiful calming scenes of tropical islands and calming music. Will definitely be going back, we were informed by the manager that Saturdays will hold special events. We missed a cheese and wine tasting last week. On Saturday this week 28th July an Asian street food tasting is on. We booked on the woucher and would of definitely recommend a visit . Not much parking but car park is only down the street. Thank you for your hospitality 😁

I mean where do I even start? It would be unfair to simply write ‘avoid this hotel’, as the staff somewhat tried. Staff: Receptionist was lovely and very personable upon arrival. Sadly that’s where the positive experience ended. Room: Stayed in room 2 on ground floor. Windows, although horribly dirty were internal double glazed so no external noise. Curtains were ceiling high (15-17ft) and hung on by mismatched cable ties. Bathroom tiles were not pointed or fixed to the floor. Both the main room and bathroom stank of stagnant moulding musk. Small flies and moths ever present (substantiating the uncleanliness/mould). Partition door to neighbouring room was paper thing and could hear neighbours tv until hideously late on a weeknight. Breakfast: No fruit. I mean what kind of place doesn’t serve fruit!?!? Only cooked breakfast, which was semi decent. Table cloths were dirty with stains that were not from that day and clearly just stained permanently. Filter coffee was weak and tasteless. No water available on tap, only apple juice and orange. Won’t be staying there ever again.

Yelp
This hotel is what I think of when I think of bare minimum European hotels. There are cracks in the walls and obvious water damage. My sink is constantly dripping, the entire hotel smells of old built up cigarette smoke, the hallway light on the top floor is out and the exit sign is flickering like a horror movie. There are no USB outlets or tissues. The mini fridge in my room does not work, and they obviously did not plan on ever needing to fix it because there is no way to access the controls to it. The lift is broken too. Honestly the best thing about this hotel is the giant bell at the front desk.

Yelp
Great afternoon tea yesterday, at the hotel. The cakes were so yummy and homemade. Downfall was the room was so hot like to hot and they had no air con but it's all good they more than made up for it with two for one cocktails! Hollaaaa
