The cathedral was opened in 1861. The architectural design was inspired by the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople, as well as the features of 17th-century Novgorod and Moscow architecture. The cathedral features a five-domed structure, with the five domes symbolizing Jesus Christ and the four evangelists, and the central dome reaching a height of 48 meters.
The interior of the cathedral, typical of Orthodox churches, is characterized by its abundance of gilding, frescoes, and ornate iconostasis.
The iconostasis for the lower Trinity Church was carved from oak and was moved from the former embassy church.
The cathedral is known for its rich history: Pablo Picasso and Olga Khokhlova were married here in 1918, and Ivan Bunin and Vera Muromtseva were married here in 1922.
People always come here, and the cathedral is very popular. The aroma inside is wonderful, and the aura is pleasant.
