An amazing and breathtaking cathedral located in the old town. An impressive marble altar, numerous chapels and sculptures. It feels like pure magic there. There is also a possibility to light a candle and pray (which I did).
It is a must-see in Alghero, without any doubts. I recommend planning a longer moment to see the place.

Worth to give it a visit. Very nice church. It is just almost impossible to find out when there is a holy mass online.

Dazzling gothic Cathedral at the heart of Alghero's old town. Incredible amount of chapels tributed to different Saints and invocations of the Virgin Mary including Our Lady of Montserrat due to the historical connection of Alghero with Catalonia (Spain). There is also an impressive neoclassical mausoleum from the Duke of Montferrato Maurizio Giuseppe di Savoia. Moreover, we find a stunning pipe organ from 1935 with 116 notes. Perfect visit for a moment of spirituality and reflection while visiting Alghero's old town.

It is not often you see a white marble altar. It is the highlight of the visit. To see it properly it needs to be lit with the lighting, which requires a small payment. When we arrived it was all lit up and the whiteness was impressive. Just as I was taking the photo the lights went off and the photo isn’t as good.

The church dates back to the early 1500s and is imposing and austere inside.
Its neo-classical façade was added in the 19th century and is completely different.

Quite an amazing architectural mish- mash with a Romanesque portico at the front which is off putting in this quaint medieval town. But it’s worthwhile to step inside and view the interior and bell tower.
