Beautiful on the hill overlooking Ancona harbour and city. Stunning on the inside and you can go see relics and tombs that are under the cathedral floor.

A magnificent blend of an art and history The Cattedrale di San Ciriaco is truly a hidden gem perched on the hill above Ancona. From the moment you start the walk up (or drive), you're rewarded with spectacular panoramic views over the Adriatic Sea and the port below. The cathedral itself is a stunning combination of Romanesque and Byzantine architectural styles, beautifully preserved and radiating a serene atmosphere. Inside, the soft light filtering through the windows creates an almost mystical ambiance, and the crypt with ancient columns adds an extra layer of fascination for history lovers. What makes the visit even more special is the peacefulness - it's usually not crowded, so you can take your time to admire the details and reflect. The surrounding area is also perfect for a short stroll or to simply enjoy the sea breeze and views. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Ancona - whether you're interested in architecture, history, spirituality, or just looking for an unforgettable viewpoint.

The Cattedrale di San Ciriaco is beautiful and full of history. The architecture is impressive, and the view from the top is worth the climb. It’s a peaceful place to spend some quiet time and enjoy the atmosphere of Ancona.

It's not grand but still beautiful, and an interesting story about it is that it was built upon a rock that was thrown at Saint Stephen when he was martyred.

Lovely cathedral well worth a visit, you enter the crypt as well. The magnificent lions at the entrance are wonderful. A great view over the port as the cathedral is situated at the highest point in the old city.

It is worth the walk up to visit this cathedral and their is a free lift that takes you some of the way, but their are lots of steps and steep slopes. You can drive up as parking outside. Their are views of the port and over the city roof tops. The entrance looks impressive with huge stone loins outside guarding it. Inside is a lots of treasures, beautiful huge art works and lots of lovely marble and pillars. The font was very modern and simple. The floors and ceilings were very colourful. Their was plenty of dark wooden panelling and stone carvings and 2 crypts to go down. The one had 1 euro donation. Their was also an information board and it was very well maintained. Outside is a museum which was closed so dont know what it was about and also a tower to which was no access.
