Cattedrale di San Lorenzo

Very pretty church with stunning Stations of the Cross statue depictions. It struck me as a somewhat small cathedral for a good sized town, but I'm no expert.

A beautiful cathedral with stunning stone work and painting. Well worth visiting.

There are many cathedrals in this city and they are filled with history and gorgeous. This one is is not exceptional. Be sure to take a look at the ceiling, as well as the organ. Also, check out the arches throughout the entire cathedral.

I think the cathedral was closed the day we were there. I think it was a Friday. But we ate lunch at the Vecchio Tine and pizza and wine was delicious

Stunning! They were set up for a wedding, so it really was the perfect time to see it for a minute.

The cathedral of San Lorenzo is a pretty baroque cathedral in the center of the old city. As with many churches in this town, and in Italy, the church façade and gates are lining up flush with the residential buildings to the left and right. I visited the church on a public (Feragosto) and religious holiday (Assumption of Mary), and a long procession was coming to an end inside the Cathedral. A very moving display of Italian Catholic religiosity.

The church was built in 1421 and rebuilt several times in the following centuries. Its current appearance comes from an 18th-century restoration by the architect Giovanni Biagio Amico. The plaster decorations were added in the second half of the 18th century. The facade of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo is in the Baroque style. The interior of the cathedral features a Latin cross and three naves.

This is s funky Cathedral with scenes of Jesus's life carved in large sized statues but with local Italian characters. No charge to enter and not much space to worship.
