Cattle Baron

I need to start off with a shout out to our server, Kalyan B.. She was attentive, articulate and energetic with a bright smile. She made sure our beverage glasses were always full. The prime rib was perfectly and simply seasoned. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare temperature. The portion options are excellent. We opted for the 8 Oz. portion and we still had left overs. My husband's French Dip with fries looked amazing and tasted delish. We enjoyed the salad bar too. Crispy lettuce with amazing array of toppings. Soup was also available. Meal pricing was reasonable. A must stop if your in town.

Our favorite part was the salad bar which was well stocked and clean with traditional salad and toppings, pasta salads, fruits and vegetables, and soup! The cocktail I got was not well balanced and too sweet. We ordered our steaks medium and one came out practically rare and the other one well done. We also ordered onions and mushrooms for our steaks which had no flavor.

Fabulous! The Prime Rib was great, the Mexico Steak is wonderful. Our servers were Raven, who was training Keaton. Both are just stellar in service, great sense of humor, and just really people you'd like to hang out with. Our night was made better with chocolate cake (you must try this) and caramel cheese cake. We were celebrating a birthday and the were kind enough to not make a big deal of it. I can't wait to go back!

The prices for the portion sizes is amazing. The food was delicious, we had one diner with steak and another ordered the chicken special of the day. Both loved their food and three of us ate from the huge, extremely fresh, salad bar and were so happy we chose it. Frederick was our server, excellent service and super friendly. Next time I'm in Las Cruces I will definitely dine there

I love the salad bar here! They always have a great selection and the soups are fantastic 😍 I came in with a large group and was impressed by the service. Our waiter was very polite and attentive. They did bring me out the wrong steak but they quickly got it fixed. I ordered the peppercorn steak with sweet potato fries. I ordered my steak medium and it was cooked perfectly. For dessert I got the creme brulee. Everything was delicious 😋

Great place to go with friends for a nice dinner. The menu is basic steakhouse and they have an excellent salad bar. Service was very friendly and helpful. If you're a country fried steak fan like I am, they do a great job here. I don't live in Las Cruces, but when I visit, this place will be on my list.

Food was pretty good and came out very quick! Our server was good and very attentive. Salad bar had a lot of great selections and different salad dressings. Would come back to eat again!

This was a really lovely meal. My husband and i both got the chicken fried steak, and the crust was absolutely perfect. You could not get a better crust on that thing! It was cooked to perfection. We got a side of fries and a salad. Both of those were amazing, especially the fries dipped in that delicious white gravy. The server was amazing, he was attentive and seemed to always ask about another drink at the perfect time, and he was friendly but not overwhelming, like you sometimes see in places. The whole thing was lovely. I will absolutely go back!

First time dining here and it was great. Beda was our server, he was very helpful explained in detail the menu as was very polite. For started we ordered the sampler appetizer. Very delicious! My husband ordered the Ribeye steak and I had the Filet with a baked potato and Caesar salad. For dessert we had the apple cobbler with ice cream. Everything was delicious and definitely will be back.

Awesome clean salad bar. Service was spot on. Ambiance was comfortable and relaxing. Food was delicious and portions are large. Good prices for all that you get.

In the mood for steaks? Head on over to Cattle Baron. They didn't disappoint. The steaks were perfectly cooked as requested. Prime rib was delicious. Sides were all good. Portions were big so we had some leftovers. Service was excellent! Highly recommend!!

Best salad bar around. Then have their prime rib or ribeye-you won't go wrong. Perfect every time.

Considering Las Cruces has Crap for hi-end restaurants. You can eat here. I won't be!!! Filet was over-cooked and dry, Mashed potatoes were as dry as the weather outside. Service was good. Bless their hearts. Majority of clientele was every senior citizen in a 30 mile area. Felt like the youngest person in the world eating there.

Absolutely fantastic ribeye steak, cooked perfectly, with a loaded baked potato! The food, service, and atmosphere are great, and the prices are all very reasonable. They have a $4.95 salad bar add on which was also really delicious. Definitely coming back.

The Cattle Baron continues to disappoint me every time I eat there. I've given them numerous opportunities but alas I believe that I've run out of patience for an improvement in food quality. The service and ambiance are fine but I go there for the food. Tom S

The food was excellent and the service was also excellent the steak was perfect and the setting was clean and nice.

Looking fly steakhouses in the area, there weren't many choices, but we decided to try Cattle Baron. We arrived before the dinner rush, so we were sat very quickly, but that was the last quick thing we had that was quick. We had the green chile won tons for an appetizer, which was surprisingly good. My wife had the salad bar, which she said was good but had better. The NY strip was ok but not worth the price they charge. The ribeye steak was ordered rare but came out way overdone. The staff did replace it and the second one came out cooked right. I had added the mushrooms, however those were extremely disappointing. They basically were canned mushrooms with some seasoning. The kids' mac and cheese and spaghetti were ok, nothing really special. The steakhouse chicken was the best out of everyone. It was juicy, perfectly cooked, and tasted great. We had a chocolate cake and apple pie with ice cream, which both were pretty good. What was disappointing was the service. Felt everything was slow, we were never checked on, and had to call the waitress for everything. The waitress checked on others around us and then just walked right by us. I personally wouldn't go back for the price, what we had, and the service.

This was our first time trying out this restaurant. We had traveled here to visit New Mexico State for a day. We decided to try this place out since it was recommended to us by some friends. It looks like a restaurant that would get very busy on special occasions or holidays. I have to say that the entrance is not where you think it should be. At least that was my mistake, when looking for it. We were greeted by a friendly staff and were seated right when we walked into the door. It was a pretty spacious dining area, with the kitchen and the salad bar to the right. We sat in the back corner, in a booth. Our server, Chelsea, was fantastic! Came over to greet us, ask what we'd like to drink and provided us with feedback on the menu. Since it was our first time visiting. They have a good variety of items on their menu. So we opted for the Rib Eye Steak and a loaded baked potato. The Rib Eye was delicious, melted in your mouth. Overall, the whole plate was enjoyable. Got that salad bar, as well. And let me tell you, that salad bar was pretty amazing in my eyes! So much better than other restaurants, sorry not sorry. Haha! I even got to have dessert from that salad bar. Can't beat that! Well, we will definitely be coming back here again some day. Thank you for the great service (Server was Chelsea) and great food! We enjoyed this dining experience.

First time coming here! We got the sampler appetizer. The green chile wontons were my favorite. I got a ribeye, broccoli and asparagus. My husband really enjoyed the sweet tea. The restaurant had nice decor and we had good service. Next time I would like to try the salad bar. It looked fresh. Grandma said it was delicious!

Always consistent....go there for lunch and get the crispy chicken salad (get it with half the lettuce otherwise it seems endless.). Service is always consistent.

I have dined here on a few occasions with really good meals. However, yesterday I purchased a prime rib. The meat was mostly fat (yes I know prime ribs has fat) but this was over the top. The red part was gristle and dry. I point it out to the staff and they offered a new cut to be brought to me. We were pushed for time so I said no thank you. The manager offered to take it off the tab. That was nice. I was just disappointed that the meat was so bad. So the staff were great. The other people at the table had okay meals. I left dissatisfied .... Maybe it will be better next time as it has been in the past.

I placed a pick up order for a bacon wrapped filet, medium. What I received was a well done steak, with burnt bacon, zero pink in the middle and extremely dry. And the baked potato did not seem fully baked. I was disappointed and don't think that I will order again.

I've passed by this place many times over the years but tonight was my first time here. We sat in the lounge area and ordered the green chile wontons which were pretty good. The bread was fresh and really soft so it was a bit difficult to cut. My dad ordered the prime rib with onion rings and sautéed mushrooms and I got the New Mexico steak with sautéed onions and sweet potato fries. The prime rib was really mushy and the color didn't look right, it was all the same color on the inside and outside. The mushrooms weren't there so the host went to get a cup and they were back in like 10 seconds. The mushrooms looked like the watery, canned stuff. No way these were sautéed. The onion rings were really thin and the coating was flaky so it was a mess to eat them. My steak was really tough on the outside like it was well done but the inside look medium rare, and I had ordered it medium. I ended up getting mushrooms instead of the sautéed onions to go with my steak and I'm assuming someone mixed up the order. I wasn't going to ask the staff to get the onions because the mushrooms were fine. Mine looked like they were cooked at least. The green chile and cheese on top was a nice touch. I didn't get a lot of sweet potato fries, maybe less than a handful. It was an ok experience but a little disappointing. I don't know if I'd go back. Based on a lot of the other reviews it seems like the chefs don't know how to cook the meat.

The food and service was excellent. Pammy our server she is a gem! Very attentive even though the dining room was full. The ambiance was very nice as well .

Our steaks weren't cooked to order and the mash potatoes were dry. :/ decor was nice! The waiter was kind.

We went to Cattle Baron Saturday night. There were eight of us. Between all of us, prime rib, hamburger, fish, chicken with artichoke and alfredo sauce, chicken fried steak and my husband ordered ribeye. Everybody enjoyed their meal. The service as great also. That was the first time there for me and my husband and we plan on going again soon.

We heard this place had the best salad bar, and it didn't disappoint. You pay $4.95 as a side and can go back to the salad bar as much as you want! Or you can buy it just as a meal. The managers are attentive and the waiters and waitresses are trained well and hustle to make sure your party is taken care of. The interior is lined with ranch style like decor, but it's clean and quaint - perfect for couples and/or families. Compared to California and parts of Arizona, we were impressed with the overall quality of our meals, and this place is on our list of go-tos in town.

My girlfriend and I sat at the bar to watch Sunday football and we were greeted by the most delightful bartender, Maggie. Her knowledge of the menu was superb and perfectly complimented by a keen sense of humor but our experience didn't end there.. Her coworkers that frequented the POS system next to us also surprised us with their genuine hospitality and kindness, our favorite being Cat! The food was great, we loved the atmosphere and of course look forward to coming back soon!

Food was good hot and tasty. Quiet nite when we went there server Mike was attentive and friendly. Comfortable seating. Salad bar was loaded and cleaned . Nice dinner tonite. Kudos to Mike our server on sun 1

I was there a few weeks ago I ordered Scampi! It was the worst I Ever had. The shrimp was Trump I asked for fresh garlic and when It came there was no garlic at all I didn't even eat it. Guess I'm spoiled I'm born and raised in San Francisco And their food is the best. I guess Cattle baron can only do Salad bar! And that's not hard todo

Ok so I was hesitant to come here because of the reviews.. I work and eat all over the country and the little things matter not the overpriced meals that i eat almost 5 days a week... I am very happy I decided to come here.. I grew up in the 80's and back then the salad bar was center stage in a restaurant (on the east coast) . This place took me back to my childhood.. it reminds me of a place called Bonanza Steak house ... the salad bar is massive and has everything you would ever want. Including soup and dessert.. that alone is why you should eat here. I got the ribeye and compared to Las Vegas (where I live) it's very reasonable and was very good. The service was great and that isn't normal in this day and age..

A SteakHouse should actually know how to cook steaks right the first time and management should actually care when they aren't. This place is nothing more than an over priced Sizzler.

Had a birthday dinner with a rather large group (18). We were seated in one of two rows of tables with each row attended by 2 waiters. I ordered a French Dip which tasted ok however I was brought a plate with fries and 1/2 of a sandwich and about 15 minutes later the other half was brought out! No explanation as to why!. The first half was kinda sad looking and tepid but 2nd half was teeming with roast beef and very warm and tasty. I'm rather new to Las Cruces and my prior experience at a different restaurant and ordering a French Dip was disappointing. Guess this city only serves great food if it has red or green chili.

I enjoyed this restaurant on a girls night out. I had the salad bar and it was excellent. Many of my companions had the prime rib and it looked delicious. Good service and tremendous patience on the part of wait staff.

About two weeks ago, my husband and I were in Las Cruces to see my dad and other members of our family. Cattle Baron is my dad's favorite restaurant so we took him there for dinner, of course. Darien was our server. He was friendly, kind, and efficient. Our food was delicious and prepared just the way we wanted. Cattle Baron never disappoints. Surprisingly, it's also very affordable. I highly recommend Cattle Baron if you are looking for a yummy steak dinner. I'm betting you will thoroughly enjoy it.

I was accompanied by a date for a pleasant dinner at the Cattle Baron. Tonight I ordered the filet mignon with a baked potato and a trip to the salad bar. My date requested the least expensive steak on the menu...the "center cut strip loin" with fries and the salad bar. Tonight the service was again top drawer...excellent...very professional. The fresh bread was quite good but so soft it was a little difficult to cut cleanly. The salad bar of course was top drawer. The fries were crispy and very tasty. These were really good fries. The fries were so much better that the insipid onion rings I'd had previously. My date said her smallish "Manhattan cut" strip steak was ok, but nothing too special. My baked potato was good but again the Cattle Baron still bakes them in foil and the skin was not crispy. The nice sized filet mignon was tender, juicy, well seasoned and flavorful. This was a very good steak, cooked perfectly medium rare and well worth the price. All in all, this was a very nice dinner at the Cattle Baron for a reasonable price. Rate the Baron Five Stars for the all-around dining experience.

Before going to our WWE event my mom and dad decided to take us to Cattle Baron to enjoy a good lunch before the show! We arrived when the restaurant first opened and they sat us immediately. The waiter was fantastic and was very quick with getting everything we needed out! The salad bar was very clean and I love the fact that they have gloves available at the salad bar. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection! It's always a great experience at this restaurant!

Went here for Father's Day dinner. 3 out of the 6 of us, including our dad, ordered prime rib, and it was so bad we couldn't even cut with our knife. We were offered to order something different, but by this time everyone else was almost done eating. The server was excellent, and the prime rib meals were taken off, but it ruined Father's Day.

Basically, a totally different company but Yukon Jacks in calizuela just the same. Nice salad bar, would be perfect in Tucson snowbird land as it is fresh, bland and yes i tried it to make sure. Definitely worth it for the soups. Lentil is amazing, pozole tasted fresh and spicy, soup perfection. The turkey avocado sandwich is decent, nice combination of filler and bread. Spaghetti is b.o.r.i.n.g Mac n cheese has to absolutely be kraft. For the critique, it's still wayyyyyyyy better than applesleaze, fake aussieville, n etc. Super cool and awesome overworked staff, please tip well folks... Nice location, cool view of las cruces, nice menu. I will eat here as its still 9000% better than any other chain here in town.

I was here several years ago and the meal was fantastic! The steak was thick and juicy, full of flavor. The baked potato was soft and fluffy, the butter and sour cream just melted and mixed in so easily! I loved it! So I went again a few weeks ago when I was in Las Cruces. I had the same steak and potato but this time the steak was thin and not very tasty. It was good, but not what I remembered. The baked potato was a bit undercooked and hard which made mixing all the "loaded" parts together a bit harder. My server was great, the salad bar was great. The food was just ok. I will try it again when I am back in town and see if I was there on an off night.

What a terrific evening we experienced here. The service was top notch. The salad bar was beyond anything I've ever seen. Huge is small compared to this salad bar. I ate so much that I couldn't even eat my main course. It was all fresh and fully loaded. Kept clean and super cold. Two soups to choose from also. My husband ordered ribs and I had the sirloin. Cooked perfect and melted in my mouth. We were both so happy. The sweet potato came with cinnamon butter, it was like eating dessert! So so good! I will be back if I'm ever this way again!

We were very impressed with this restaurant. We had never been to a Cattle Baron before and were pleasantly surprised with this establishment. This place was excellent. It was very clean and had a wonderful ambiance. The salad bar was extremely impressive and the steaks were tender, juicy, and melt in your mouth delicious. The manager and especially the server were outstanding. The service they provided was phenomenal and overtly above excellent. If anyone from Cattle Baron reads this please open one of these wonderful restaurants in Dallas.

I absolutely love Cattle Baron's salad bar. I usually get the chicken Alfredo and add salad bar. The food is fantastic and there are so many great choices at the salad bar. My only suggestion is to be patient with the wait staff they tend to have more tables than arms and are trying very hard to give personal attention to every table.

Salad bar is delicious, soups are good, drinks are good, service people are efficient and courteous, sandwhiches are good, atmosphere is good, overall great restaurant.

So good!!! So good!!! This is a claaaaasy joint. The salad bar is down right magical, it has everything and anything your little heart desires. You can easily get full on just the salad bar, it's that good. Food is so good and well prepared. Just absolutely amazing presentation and taste. My wife loved the Green Chile Cheese Steak aka the Néw Mexico. The Pepper steak was awesome as well. Customer service is fantastic our waitress was a sweetheart and was on point beginning to end. Cleanliness was great as well, they even have gloves for all to wear at the salad bar. Just a classy classy place with great food. We paid $85 for 2 meals, salads, 2 cokes and 1 appetizer. Totally worth it.

Ordered the prime rib and it would have been ok but the line cook soaked it in juice from the vegetables. A caesar salad was ordered also and it was sub par. I don't think the cook knows how to prepare a authentic caesar salad. It was more like a vinegar and oil dressing with Parmesan grated over it. Maybe he should google how to prepare. Very disappointing. Wait staff hurried us through our order and didn't allow us to order appetizers. I ordered a white wine and it was minimal at best. I asked for ice tea with the meal and she brought before the wine. I was informed they no longer carry Ferrai -Carano either. No problem, it was double what I can get at the local package store anyway. Got a new waitress and she was so much better. Don't think I will go back however. Terrible experience since I expected so much more.

The service was amazing. All of the staff was so nice! The restaurant was so clean and nice inside. The salad bar was great I was not expecting it to be that big. So many great things about this restaurant, my only complaint is the food. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and it was so bland. Even the chicken in it wasn't seasoned. My husband ordered a steak and he said the same it wasn't seasoned. We also got the green Chile wontons and they were very weird and I didn't enjoy the sauce that came with it. My whole family agreed the best thing we ate was the mozzarella sticks and the sweet potato.

This was a tough one for me. As a vegetarian I wouldn't normally have come to a place that specializes in steaks and such. But I was celebrating with my family that enjoys cutlets. I ordered the Cajun Chicken Alfredo Pasta without the chicken which the waitress kindly let me know it was an option. We did ask for a meal serving and they ended bringing us a side size serving. Mine and my wife's pasta (without chicken) took more time to arrive to the table even though the size and lack of chicken would have made it 'easier' to prepare. My brother which ordered the same dish but with chicken was half way done with his by the time ours arrived. The salad bar is really good, though. It offers a variety of delicious options. If I were to go again I would stick to the salad bar for sure because the pasta was very bland even compared to cheaper options out there. We got seated considerably fast giving the amount of people in the establishment. This place is worth giving it a try and I'm sure the steaks are good because the rest left pretty satisfied with the service and food. Bottoms up!

Restaurant is clean, salad bar is plentiful, steaks and sides better than average. Ribs and sausage special was very good. Service was excellent. My wife and I will return for future dinner visits

This is one of those places that does ok for food but I feel like I'm eating with my grandma. It's nice, the food is good so I can't knock them on anything but slow service...which may actually be a feature at this restraunt. That said if I was heading out for a date I'd go somewhere else for a more fun atmosphere. The food is very traditional pricey steakhouse, no gastro vibe... or really anything novel on the menu.

Always a good option. Good is not always consistent but management is responsive. I love love love the salad bar!!

The cuisine was impeccably crafted, and the restaurant exuded cleanliness and friendliness. The attention to detail in ensuring our satisfaction was truly commendable, and our server Moy's kindness and hospitality were particularly appreciated.
