Cattle Drive Cafe & Bull Bar

My husband and I went to for a drive and decided to stop and eat here. The service was very good, not too noisy. Our waitress was prompt and courteous, our food order was taken quickly. Our drinks were delivered in a timely manner. The food was delicious, my husband got the Chicken Fried Steak it was very tender. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken, it was also delicious and juicy. It was a lot of food as portions were big. We will definitely be driving to Coleman again.

2nd time i have been here. been a couple years ago. i got fish tacos and cowboy corn. cowboy corn was totally delicious! fish tacos were very good but it would have been nice if they had some kind of green salsa or similar with it( obviously just a personal preference). waiter was very nice but after he brought my food he never checked back to see if everything was ok or if i needed something else ( he passed my table at least 10 times). overall enjoyable meal.

We are tourists from Germany, and when asking for recommendations at a gas station, we were told to visit the Cattle Drive Cafe & Bull Bar. We were driving from Houston, Texas, to Colorado Springs, and this stop turned out to be the culinary highlight of our trip! The atmosphere was fantastic, the people were incredibly friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. Hard to believe in a town that at first glance seemed a bit quiet, but the restaurant was bustling with guests. My wife, our child, and I were all thoroughly satisfied - we haven’t experienced anything quite like it anywhere else. We will definitely make a stop here again on our next trip. As a German, my child did miss having the typical apple juice mixed with sparkling water (like we often have back home), but we came here for an authentic American dining experience - and that’s exactly what we got!

Started with the nachos. Came out quick, meat was well seasoned, wouldn't win any awards but we were hungry and it went down well. I had the pork chop. The portion was a little smaller than I thought it would be and it was thinner than I expected but one of the most tender chops I have ever had. Not mushy but butter soft and super flavorful. Crispy fried okra and amazing zucchini. They were from a smaller zucchini with thin slices that had been quartered. So they cooked quickly and some pieces were almost caramelized and others almost slightly crisp which made for a fantastic texture. I don't know what they were seasoned with but it was almost like a chili crisp? I ate the whole plate, it was amazing. My wife had the chicken sandwich and fries. Fries were well seasoned, a little limp. The chicken was a little underseasoned for my taste, but the sandwich had a dressing, good bacon and a beautiful slice of tomato. Fantastic stop. Waiter got slammed as a birthday party of 18 or so came in along with 3 other tables, so gave him a lot of grace, just took a bit to get our check and didn't get to try a dessert. Would absolutely stop again.

Right off the bat want to say we loved it. Food tasted great, our server, Gabby (sp), was awesome and the vibe of the restaurant was authentic West Texas diner. I just wish the portion sizes were larger. I highly recommend.

Damn good food, drinks, and excellent service. Obviously a well run place. I’m here on the weekend that they have a local festival, it’s very busy and they’re not missing a Lick.

Hadn't been here before but I will definitely come back. I got the chicken fried steak and it was the best I'd had in ages. Service was great. Lots of options. Got a blackberry cobbler to-go and it was super good. Will definitely be back to out more.

This place was awesome! Our waitress Josie B. was so sweet and helpful. It was our first time here and can't wait to come back! We had the chips and salsa and the onion rings for appetizers. Those onions rings are a must try! Delicious! I had the "Cow Patty" (loaded baked potatoe w/sirloin tips), and my husband had the chicken fried chicken. Both were very delicious! The sirloin tips were cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was great and loved the rustic decor throughout the restaurant/bar.

W e were so excited to try this place out. Had promised hubby a steak and he was drooling Buuut, there was a snafu in that there was no Handicapped parking and multiple stairs to get to the door so we couldn't go due to both of us having to use Rollators. I was really sad...

This may be the best steak we've ever had, ever! Service was immediately friendly and attentive, and our server Gabby was very responsive. The steak was buttery, tender, well-seasoned, and the two sides of salad and baked potato were well-portioned and dressed. We never give a five star, but this is the place! We're telling our friends across the US- Go to the Cattle Drive Cafe!

Ok, well, I love a good local place to eat and when I saw the Brahman bull, it was over. (I love Brahman cattle! Have a few!) Great food and great service!

Very happening place! Food is good and service was excellent despite our large party. There's a cool bar area and T-shirt's can be purchased. This is a southern style restaurant so its mostly fried options; however, there are a few grilled choices. My fiancé and I shared an entree. I'm not a huge chicken fried steak gal but it was really good. The sides we got were mashed potatoes and grilled zucchini. They could have been hotter temperature wise and the zucchini was overcooked; however, it was still a solid meal.

I had lunch with a buddy here today for the first time. We were immediately greeted at the door with a smile and seated. The atmosphere fits the name. It's a rustic, cowboy cafe, tastefully decorated with cattle brands burned into the walls, western art, vintage town photos of Coleman, and the Rodeo Channel on tv. Bathrooms were super clean and continued with the western theme. The food was delicious. I had quite possibly the best burger I've ever eaten: a 12oz in house ground beef patty with Swiss, American, and mushrooms with all the trimmings. It came accompanied by a hefty portion of homemade fries just like Mama would make. The menu had an impressive array of seafood (blackened, grilled, and fried), steaks, calf fries, burgers, home-style entrees and desserts (try the pecan cobbler!!). The establishment serves a great variety of beers, and they have a full bar, with a lengthy cocktail menu. Service was wonderful from every employee we encountered. Cannot wait to come back!

We did get concerned when we were seated that perhaps we weren't in anyones section - it was just that our waitress was tied up at another place. Food was good - probably the best burger my son and I have had in a long time. Once she got going, she was on top of things with great service. We live really far away, but if we go to fish Ivie again, we would go back!

Cattle Drive Cafe is located in Coleman Texas on their main road downtown. Many good places to eat here. Atmosphere: Very large dining area split into several different rooms of an old downtown building. For some reason on the day we visited it was about 55° inside the restaurant. There were a couple of tables with blankets over their laps and EVERY table had people wearing coats or heavy jackets. It was a very mild day outside, so I don't know what the need for the low temperature, AND all the fans were blowing. Their was no explanation from staff on why it was so cold. 0.5 Stars Service: Other than the cold, the waitress was very nice and attentive. We were sat almost immediately when we arrived and the place was hopping. Food was served fairly quickly. 1.5 Stars Food: We had some fried pickles and their famous onion rings. Both were quite good. Wife had the small cheeseburger and said it was good. Daughter had the chicken fried chicken which she said was very good. Gravy was nice and peppery. My son went with the special of the day which was a rather surprising dish of chicken parmesan. it was huge. He managed to get about of it down before packing it up to eat later. I had the fried catfish which comes in nugget form and quite good. Everything got cold very quickly because of the room temperature but it all came out hot. 1.5 Stars Overall: all of the food was quite good with large portions. Many dishes could easily be split between two people. Hopefully our temperature fiasco was just an anomaly and it won't be that way next time we go. But we would definitely like to go back and try a couple of other new items.

Great service tonight as usual. Food was fantastic and atmosphere is rustic but very nice. We love going there. We had hamburger steak, pork chops, salads and loaded baked potatoes.

The food is melt in your mouth - Delicious! Love the atmosphere-football on all tv's & full bar Josie Wells was our waitress both times - top notch service!! Our first visit was at Christmas- we drove over to Coleman to shop downtown and decided to eat at the cattle drive. We went back last night. The "cowboy sushi" - our new favorite appetizer. Worth the drive from anywhere!! Our new favorite place to eat. Go in hungry come out full with leftovers to eat later!

We love this restaurant. The employees are always friendly and food is always good. We always have a god experience when visiting.

Fantastic meal in every way! A quick drive from Abilene and we were treated to great food and excellent customer service. A rare combo these days. We had the steak fingers and chicken fried steak. Both were excellent. The CFS was fork tender and great flavor. My wife loved the steak fingers. They had a special on peach cobbler that day. My wife brought it home it was yummy! It was only 2 bucks!!! What a deal!! Our server was Andrea and she was AWESOME! She had a great spirit and obviously loves her job and Coleman. She told us about other things to do in town. We will definitely go back soon!

We stopped in for lunch to try their burger. We were greeted and seated with - Quick friendly service. We ordered a cheese burger and home cut fries. The food came out for the kitchen and the burger was nice and tasty. Not over cooked, not a huge patty but big enough. The fries, egads, came out cold. Nothing worse than cold fries. We mentioned it to the staff and we were promptly told "don't suffer":) and they very quickly brought us out a fresh serving of nice hot fries, with no fuss and many apologies. It much appreciated and because of the service and tasty food, we will be back. Not to mention we want to give the very quaint bar in the back a try. Great small town atmosphere, supper friendly service. Well worth your time.

Very good & flavorful. Service was excellent. Could use more zucchini in the chicken & zucchini dinner. Ambiance on patio was so enjoyable.

I've been holding out on my 900th review. Do I max out my credit card and go eat at the French Laundry in Cali? $1200 steak in Japan? Searching online I found a taco salad shaped like a Stetson! So, I headed to Coleman, Texas to check out Cattle Drive Cafe. Brought some hungry car club peeps along to check it out. One diner in fact had dined before and suggested the onion rings. Pleasant surprise that CDC's offerings were equal to some of my fave rings in the state of Texas. Fried pickles were possibly the best I've ever had. I chose the taco salad as I've been on an old school Tex-Mex quest lately. Tortilla presentation is unique; not akin to the bowl shape. Flat with a slight curve on the edges. Salad in the middle. Spring mix instead of iceberg so you know it's upscale wink wink. Chicken while acceptable could have been a bit more tender. Make the salsa and sour cream standard and offer an avocado component. Also, it needed beans to make it kick azz. While it also looks huge, it wasn't really a sharable plate. Others praises the chicken fried steak, fried catfish, and dessert selections. I'm planning on a return visit for a ribeye and those rings! Service was perfect even with a larger group; well done yall...Cattle Drive makes Coleman a nice lunch destination for my car club.

Food is very good. The night we were there service was a little slow but to be fair it was a Friday night and very busy. We called ahead and made reservations so we only had a couple of minutes wait time for them to set up our table. There were 2 of us but there were several large parties with 10 and more people.

Tried the KC steak for two mine rare hers medium. Could have easily fed three, but I made a pig out of myself. So full but happy. Also loaded baked potato & salad.

Wonderful service and food! Burgers were amazing! We were greeted with a friendly smile and seated right away. Our waiter was welcoming and helpful and the food hot and delicious. Bathrooms are amazingly clean!

Great steaks, fries, and even, for a steak house, decent salads. Staff are friendly and fun. Beer flows regularly and mixed drinks are good. Haven't tried the wine. Wine? Do they have it? Don't know. Anyway, the atmosphere is ranch country.

Todd and Viki have chosen an amazing team to run Cattle Drive and Bull Bar in downtown Coleman, Texas. My husband and I love going there!!! The food and atmosphere is amazing and on top of that their service is fantastic!! They have a great General Manager, Steve Grelle. Lydia and the rest of the folks that work there know how to take care of their customers!!! Go try it out sometime!!! You will not be disappointed!!!!

Food is good, sometimes when it's busy they get a little slow and might not come to the table a whole lot but the food is worth it. Catfish is solid, Chicken Fried Steak is good, onion rings are good, chips and salsa are good. Good vibe, good people, good food, what can you ask for?

Love Cattle Drive Cafe! Food and drinks are great, and the service is awesome! A "must visit" in Coleman (the town I grew up in).

We drove from Abilene to Coleman for one reason. The Mexican chicken fried steak! (See photos) She told me it was a special and not available today. Almost a tear in my eye. Imagine my disappointment...when I had to eat something else that was absolutely delicious! Jim ordered the regular chicken fry, which he said was great. He sure finished before me! I had the steak fries. French fries covered in medium rare steak bites, grilled jalapeños, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, shredded cheese, and then drizzled in ranch dressing! Yes, we're going to make this at home cause it was awesome! Allllllllmost licked the plate. Oops, I forgot to tell you about the bottomless chips and salsa appetizer, and I sure did like the salsa! We are absolutely stuffed, and that's a problem. I'm going to have to take the pecan pie cobbler all the way back to Abilene, and then eat it! The staff was great. Three different young ladies checked on us the whole visit. Well, mission NOT accomplished. We have to come back on Mexican chicken fry day, so I can tickle my taste buds! See ya!

Very cool atmosphere....thus the 2 stars. Seafood platter - lots of food. Lots of under cooked food. Fried catfish and fried shrimp need hot grease in order for the food to be served hot and crispy. The fries....not enough to salvage the rest of the plate. The hushpuppies were the best thing on the plate. Chicken Fried Steak - much the same. The Chicken Fry didn't find the hot grease either. Nor did the onion rings. The mashed potatoes .....didn't find their source of heat either. This whole plate had potential.....if only it were cooked properly. Lots of food....but quantity NEVER trumps quality. Drove nearly an hour very anxious to try the place that receives 4 1/2 stars only to show up on a day when the grease wasn't hot and the potatoes weren't reheated from the night before. Our complaints, while legitimate, fell on deaf ears.

Best place to hang out for a drink, or get dinner in Coleman! Steve does an amazing job!

This is a five star restaurant, a must stop and dine establishment. The menú ranges from fried onion rings to fried pickles. From burgers to the cow flaps(a must) their dinner will size up any tastebuds. Local caught fish to skewered Shrimp to a world class aged and cooked to order 18 oz. prime rib. If you are close to or are traveling to Abilene, Coleman is hop skip and a jump away. WOW FIVE STAR a must dine in restaurant!!!

We stopped here on a lark and were pleasantly surprised by delicious and imaginative dishes. Kylie's Bowl was a big winner with juicy, perfectly seasoned chicken, beans, pico de gallo, avocado, and queso served over rice. I got the same, but with sirloin. The homemade onion rings were perfectly battered and fried to perfection. Darlene, our server, was friendly and informative and gave us perfect service throughout our meal. We highly recommend the Cattle Drive Cafe and Bull Bar.

Just driving through and stopped at this cute spot. Love the decor and the ladies room was so neat!!! The food was great and service was fantastic. I had the steak sandwich and it was delicious. The pecan cobbler was perfect. Definitely will come back.

We ate here Friday on the way to a ballgame. I had the chicken fry, hubby had catfish and daughter had hamburger steak. We got a big order of onion rings which were good but got cold fast. My chicken fry was cold and not cooked thru. My husband enjoyed his fish and hamburger steak was good. The service was excellent! Might try again, not sure.

Don't just drive through Coleman STOP! And eat at the Cattle Drive Cafe. I love burgers and the Hangry Heifer and hand cut fries didn't disappoint! And lucky for me we stopped on a Friday so I got to enjoy Fried Catfish and homemade onion rings! And we didn't forget dessert! This place has great food, a great atmosphere, and a great staff!

The food here is fantastic. The steaks have all been really good and consistent. The new baked potato is huge with generous steak portions. Service has been friendly and good. Definitely above what you'd expect from a small town restaurant.

Went in for a late lunch with mom. I had the steak finger special and mom had a burger. It was delicious and a lot of food! And Darlene took great care of us! She was so friendly and attentive! Highly recommend!

We ordered the ribeye with a side dish of French Fries. When the waitress brought out our salads I knew we were in for trouble when I saw the nagged grated cheese on top. Other than that it was OK bit nothing special. It was what I'd expect from any mediocre small town cafe consisting of chopped iceberg lettuce a couple slices of cucumber and a few cherry tomatoes. Things went downhill from there when the waitress brought out the steaks and our fries served on a wooden cutting board/platter. I'm not sure how this could pass inspection because it would be next to impossible to sterile it. The French Fries weren't prepared properly. They we're limp and greasy. The ribeye however was the biggest disappoint. while it was cooked exactly as we'd ordered it - medium rare - it was impossible to meat. Injace never encountered a ribeye as tough as this one was. Rather than send it back we elected to take it home to make stew with it hoping to make it edible. unfortunately even after an extended time in our Instant Pot the meat was still too tough to eat. We will definitely not be going back there.
