Came here last minute on a busy Sunday when the restaurant was fully booked. I asked if I could be seated outdoors, having heard great things about the food—and it was absolutely worth it. The spinach dish and the scallops were outstanding. A definite must-try. So refreshing to discover such creative and flavorful dishes.

Went there for my mother's 70th birthday Dinner (one of many lol) and boy it did not disappoint. The variety of delirious tapas was so tasty and good. It healthy fresh food! When in Galway I highly recommend it!

We've been here before and will definitely be back again! The food and drinks were really tasty, and the service is excellent. They're also happy to pack up any leftovers, which is a great bonus. Highly recommend for a delicious meal and experience.

We decided to try this place while in Galway for my birthday. The food was amazing! We had some jamon iberico to start with. A very large platter with all sort of accompaniments. Just lovely. Then we had the lamb shoulder and pork belly accompanied with some spinach and patatas bravas. Everything was so good, especially the spinach, just a simple dish with excellent flavors. The lamb with polenta and pork belly were so flavorful and just melted in our mouths. I then had some pear and quince sorbet for dessert. It was a fun experience, have never tried anything like it before. The service was also very good, we did not have to wait long for the food and the plates came as soon as they were ready. Would recomend this place to anyone visiting Galway.

Amazing food, delicious wine, and friendly service. We especially enjoyed the goat cheese & sweet potato croquettes and the lamb shoulder.

Run don’t walk to this absolute treasure of a spot in Galway. I’m quite literally writing this review as I finish my glass of wine after having one of the most amazing meals of my entire life. I just could not wait that’s how good this place is. Atmosphere 10/10, service 10/10, FOOD 1000000/10. My tastebuds had the time of their life. I ordered two savory tapas items, and one dessert that changed my world. Goat cheese and sweet potato croquettes with saffron mayo: the perfect bite size piece of heaven. The tanginess of the saffron mayo paired so well with the creaminess of the goats cheese. The fried savory and sweetness of the sweet potato really brought this dish together. Confit pork Belly with apple compote and thyme gel: WOW, just total gobsmacked wow. The pork belly was cooked to absolute perfection. Tender enough to melt in your mouth on the inside and crispy on the outside. The apple confit was spiced so well and was the perfect addition to this pork. The thyme gel threw me off slightly. The flavor was great and complimented the pork in a way I was not expecting, but the cold consistency was unexpected. Regardless, I would order this dish again without a doubt, Crema catalana, vanilla ice cream, almond crumble: this was the pièce de résistance, the absolute showstopper, and a dish that I would quite literally want every single night for the rest of my life. The nuttiness of the almond crumb was the perfect match for the sweetness of the vanilla ice cream. And then when the flavors collided with the crema catalana my world changed. I’m at a loss for words to describe the experience it was eating this. I was actually sad when they took it away because it meant the experience was over. If I was in the comfort of my own home I would lick the bowls clean with zero shame. And I might just do that the next time I order it. All in all, I have a new favorite spot in my favorite city in the world. I look forward to the journey I’m about to embark on to try everything this amazing place has to offer!

Google
One of the best tapas places in Ireland. We had a few dishes from the menu and everything was very tasty and enjoyable. All the dishes arrived very quickly and hot. The service was very good and even though it was a busy Saturday our waiter managed to look after us very well. Everything was beyond our expectations. I would definitely return to Cava Bodega.

Firstly, the atmosphere of this place was great!! It was so warm and comforting, and I felt very at ease! The food was also very good! I will say it was pretty expensive for the portion size. Fortunately, I wasn't very hungry when I went, but if I was, I would have had to order multiple things to feel full (which would have cost a lot). That being said though, what I ordered was really delicious! I got the lamb shoulder and polenta, and it was one of the best meals I had on my trip (although it was small😂). The polenta had the perfect amount of seasoning, and the lamb shoulder was very tender! Overall, I really enjoyed eating here and felt very welcomed by the kind staff!

Yelp
I've never been to Spain so I can't speak to the authenticity of the tapas but compared to what I have had, Cava was leaps and bounds above the rest (sorry Dilworth Tasting Room, I still love you). Ambience: this is your quintessential cozy, romantic restaurant. Definitely perfect for dates. The space is small but I loved the decor and vibe of both the upstairs and downstairs parts. Service: our waitress was very nice and extremely helpful in making suggestions since the menu was a bit overwhelming. We told her some of our preferred flavor profiles and her recommendations were spot on. Food: we ordered 6 tapas for 2 people, per our server's suggestion, and we did not leave hungry - it felt like a good amount. We ordered: organic mushrooms x2, Catalan ratatouille, Kenmare smoked salmon, chorizo with potatoes and red wine, and tomato bread with Serrano ham. Yes, it's pricey but we felt the price for the quality was well worth it as each dish was amazing and filled us up. For me, the mushrooms were the best I've ever had so I had to get a second order. One of the best restaurants I've ever been to, Cava did not disappoint. It looks like they used to have a Michelin star, too? I'd highly recommend making reservations and keep in mind that they're strict about the 2 hour limit per reservation. Thanks again, Cava, for a spectacular experience.

Yelp
Great little Spanish tapas spot in the centre of Galway! Surprisingly, it appears like this seemingly low-key place actually got some Michelin stars in the past (based on the signage on the windows), so we came in with high expectations. We ordered the Paella Marinera (25.5 EUR), which had red mullet and mussels. The red mullet was a soft white fleshy fish that was pretty tasty with the skin slightly crisped on the outside. The mussels were a little small but good as well. The rice had the typical paella flavor, but I thought this paella was missing a few additional items that other places usually add in. We also got a cured meat and cheese board with jamon, serrano, and manchego cheese (18.5 EUR). These items were all high quality and delicious. The board also came with some toasted almonds and these little candied fruit cubes which were surprisingly good. Lastly, we got the Confit Pork Belly (6 EUR). I thought it was cooked nicely such that it was crispy on the outside but still soft. The little green and sweet garnishes on top were a nice touch to complement the fattiness of the pork belly. As mentioned, the restaurant is a bit small but has some nice character. There is a cozy/homey environment with a dark brown wooden theme and a little bar area. They also have some ham hanging from the ceiling by the bar, which gives it an authentic Spanish vibe. The staff are friendly and the service speed is decent. Overall, Cava Bodega is a very solid option if you are interested in having some authentic Spanish food in Galway in a cozy space.

Yelp
Cava Bodega provided a satisfying experience, with a generous selection of tapas and pinchos, along with an extensive array of beer and wine options. While enjoyable, it didn't quite exceed our expectations. It's a laid-back spot with a lively ambiance.

Yelp
If you're looking for traditional Spanish tapas while in Galway, then head over to Cava Bodega near the City Centre. We enjoyed our tapas and wine downstairs in the cozy restaurant. Service was friendly and welcoming. Recommendations: Try the Patatas Bravas, Charred Corn, and the Wild Mussels. Our three favorites!

Yelp
Loved Cava Bodega! Went without reservations and were accommodated, though many people after us were sent downstairs. We only had vegetarian items (no meat or fish). We loved every thing we tried and we were so full with only 4 dishes. We really loved the mushrooms! Did try homemade ice cream for dessert. The pistachio was amazing, and the hazelnut and chocolate were good too. It was quiet and intimate. Would be perfect for date night or a small group.

Yelp
Cava Bodega will transport you to Spain and make you forget you're in Ireland. You need to make a reservation here as this place is popping off well into the night. We ordered so many things along with a fantastic bottle of wine that was recommended to us by our amazing waiter who I can't remember his name! The standout tapas are: Olives Pinches w Jamon, Manchengo and Quince Paste Patatas Bravas Churros The scallops were a tad lackluster in flavor and the duck was a little too gamey for us. The mini burgers are huge and can definitely be split between 2 people. The restaurant is charming, cozy and has clean bathrooms. Don't fill up on the delicious bread!I would definitely come back when in Galway.

Yelp
A small cozy place to hang out and have dinner. The menu is limited but the food is amazing!

Yelp
Cava bodega holds up to the Michelin star. Service was nice and very friendly. All tapas we ordered were 10/10 and it was the perfect taste of España (just how I remember). I wish I had more time in Galway to go back and try more to menu items

Yelp
Friendly service. Great wine. Good food. The ham and cheese plate was fantastic as well as the meatballs. The shrimp Gambas, while good, was not the traditional style. They were very welcoming and decor was nice.

Yelp
This is a mist try spot in Galway! Make a reservation to make sure there is room for you. Our waitress was amazing with recommendations to avoid food allergies. The highlights of the meal were the eggplant and honey, wild mushrooms, mussels, and churros. This would be a great date spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Perfect portions are great for sharing. Extensive beverage menu as well. Worth the visit!

Yelp
Hands down my favourite place to eat in Galway. For me, going out to eat is always on a social occasion. This is the perfect spot as you can order a number of really amazing dishes and share, chat and it can get loud downstairs (which is a great sign). I think the lower lighting really adds to the ambiance and just the whole vibe makes it all come together. Highly recommend the Catalan spinach, Scallops, Monkfish, Meatballs and Rack of lamb. Cant wait for my next visit.

Zechen M.

Yelp
Excellent food! I was in Galway for a day and had to try this place. I wish i had more company to try more of the menu. It is a bit pricey, but very worth it. The highlight for me was definitely the scallop with black pudding. I was also a big fan of the balsamic vinegar with the bread.

Yelp
What a magical experience. The atmosphere, the folks who work here, the delicious food and drink. The place is elegant, but also warm and inviting. You feel welcome the moment you come in. The smells from the kitchen let you know this is going to be a special experience. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Our group of three chose around 10 dishes from all across the menu. Every bite was delicious and the presentation was flawless. If you get the chance to have this experience, please do.

Yelp
Amazing. Great service, they were able to squeeze us in without a reservation and so thrilled they did. Had a party of five so we sampled alot. Highlights were the chicken kebab and the cous cous

Yelp
Cava Bodega is a great place for tapas and wine. I came here for dinner. Most of the tapas were nicely prepared and tasted good. I recommend the patatas bravas and goat cheese croquettes.

Yelp
Cava bodega stole my heart. We were visiting for one night only and knew we had to try this place out. I'm a sucker for tapas, and Cava Bodega exceeded all expectations. Delicious food, great wine choices and immaculate vibes.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. My friend and I would come here everyday for a week if we could so we can try the entire menu (but we were only visiting for a few days). The service was friendly, the waiter made great recommendations on the wine and food. The bacalao brought me back to the flavors of Portugal. The pork belly was melt in your mouth and had a nice smoky flavor to it. Highly recommend and I would definitely go back.
google avatar

Charlotte C.

Yelp
Delicious food and excellent service. Larger portions than one would expect with tapas but the food was delicious. Lentils, goat cheese, corn, lamb were excellent.

Bev U.

Yelp
We had an absolutely wonderful time at this restaurant. We had many great tapas but the best was the pork belly. It was the best pork belly I have ever had. Everything was crispy and yet still tender. We ordered many items all were great but the confit pork belly with apple was amazing. The restaurant actually shared the instructions on how to cook it but WOW it was a difficult recipe so I'm glad they have it down. I'm not sure I have the skill to try it but I would love to have that again.

Yelp
Come here. Eat the food. Drink the wine. Don't forget to make a reservation! This place is DELICIOUS. It looks TINY from the outside but there is a downstairs area too. Be sure to make a reservation because this place is super popular. They have a broad wine list and have select wines that come in various carafe sizes (such as 250mL, 500mL and then obviously full bottles). The scallops with black pudding dish was delicious. The chorizo with potatoes is so simple but the chorizo is phenomenal. The duck dishes were very tasty too. I'd 300% come back here for another meal. Oh and dessert is really good. The pistachio ice cream is some of the best that I've had!

Debbie R.

Yelp
Wonderful little gem in the Latin Quarter of Galway. The best tapas we've had! The service was impeccable and friendly. The wine was yummy along with the food. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a unique, fun spot with fab food!

Sheila W.

Yelp
Michelin star sign in the window . What the heck? Food was below average . Expensive for what it was. We left hungry after $120 euro bill for four . We asked our server for guidance on what to order and how many tapas to feed four since we had never been there and it was our first time in Galway. Input and advice from the servers was lacking and when I ordered the roasted corn as one of nine tapas our server never mentioned that it came with two small very over cooked corn cobs smothered in a cube of butter each (how do you split that between four during Covid ?). Every single thing we ordered was edible but unimpressive. The paella tasted a bit like rice a roni (and I've had true Spanish paella...this was not it) . Entire meal was quite disappointing ! And then upon leaving after such a mediocre meal I saw the Michelin sign. I have lost all faith in the rating system:(
google avatar

Uma Shankar S.

Yelp
Great spot for a dinner and excellent service. We were extremely pleased with the waiter's recommendations and got the below - Scallops with black pudding and cauliflower - this really stood up to the other reviews for the place. The scallops were cooked perfectly and tasted perfect. Lentils with yogurt and mint -this was OK. If you didn't order this, you're not missing anything. Smoked Duck, plum compote tapas plate - excellent ! The flavor profile will take you by surprise in a very good way. Must try! Chicken Moorish - this was the best chicken we've ever had. We decided to order this after seeing at least a couple of orders of this go to other tables. Clearly seemed to be quite popular. Must try !

Yelp
One of our favorite meals while on vacation in Ireland! Despite the fact that we could see they were super busy and knowing we should have made a reservation we decided to walk-in anyways. And we lucked out! They were so accommodating! They had a table held for a reservation but said if we didn't mind being in a little rush they could seat us there for dinner immediately. This was perfect because while they kind of made it sound like we'd have to inhale our dinner to fit in the time frame it was actually closer to an hour and a half before the reservation so we had plenty of time to eat without feeling completely rushed. Our actual server was slightly less personable as the person who got us seated however no major complaints. We enjoyed a great bottle of wine and a few different tapas - goat cheese croquettes, squid, duck salad, mussels. They were all excellent! The atmosphere is super fun and cozy. I believe they have a couple different seating areas (we didn't venture around the spaces but they kept bringing people in so they had to go somewhere :-) ). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in Galway and would go back any day!
google avatar

Teresa C.

Yelp
AMAZING! You can literally choose ANYTHING on the menu and it is guaranteed to be delicious. They have a great wine selection and fabulous desserts. The service and staff were just wonderful :-)
google avatar

Silvia L.

Yelp
I really loved this spot for a solo dinner on a cool April night. My server was incredibly accommodating and showed no impatience with my waffling about where to sit - in or outside. He got me comfortable at high top table and served my Cava, anchovies and mussels with great hospitality. Despite the loud Americans (is that redundant?) seated next to me, I was very happy with my experience. Do go to this terrific tapas place!
google avatar

Allison B.

Yelp
One of the best meals I have ever eaten. As a vegetarian traveling through Ireland I was living on Veggie burgers and other mediocre meals for the most part, but this was incredible! Overall it was flawless. Beautiful presentation, beautiful tastes. Everything was fresh and listed where it was coming from. I had: wild mushroom & pea paella goat's cheese & sweet potato croquettes montenebro goat's cheese, figs, olives (v) santiago tart, pistachio ice-cream, walnut powder husband had: Meat balls free range pork fillet, serrano ham, apricots, sherry chicken breast, baby gem, pea, carrot purée, walnut powder chocolate mousse, vanilla ice-cream, candied hazelnuts, soil If you are heading to Galway, or live in Galway you should 100% eat here. It is a bit pricy, but well worth it! tip: MAKE A RESERVATION! It is a small place and couldnt get in our first night, well worth waiting another day.
google avatar

James T.

Yelp
Worth saving the pennies to blow on a meal from Cava. A huge menu to select all manner of delicious tapas. So beautifully presented, the food is flawless and tastes delicious. Ordering dessert is a must. The chocolate mousse and churros made a real impression on us. The last time we were there a few wannabe diners were turned away as they had no reservation so call ahead to make sure you are not disappointed.
google avatar

Yue Z.

Yelp
cosy ambience and nice service. The food came with proper portion and is delicious. Definitely recommend and will go back again
google avatar

Robert K.

Yelp
The best tapas I have had to date. Well prepared, quality ingredients not overly seasoned. Quaint and cozy with a good selection of wine. When I'm in Galway I will make a point to return.
google avatar

Hayley R.

Yelp
Service was great, food was delicious, but they dropped those tapas so fast you didn't have time to think. Within 10 minutes of ordering, ALL 6 of our tapas were on the table. A table for 2. Have you heard of spacing them out? Come on. Recommend ordering a few then ordering more so your food doesn't get cold. Felt rushed.
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
Galway has several great offerings when it comes to food. However, I so enjoyed my first meal here I returned the next day for lunch. If you're planning on dinner I would recommend making reservations. The top floor is fairly small but there is a lovely little seating area facing the street where I sat to have my lunch and people watch. There is also a cozy downstairs dining area that has a great atmosphere. The food itself is delicious with many enticing options. I had the potatoes bravas, the Moorish chicken and the crème brulee with salted caramel ice cream for dessert.
google avatar

Sean O.

Yelp
Top notch Tapas. What's not to like? These guys are a cut above the average Tapas fare - by a long shot. So while Patatas Bravas are indeed on the menu, be sure and check their specials and go "off piste" and try things you may not have had before. They're very helpful with recommendations as well, so don't be afraid to ask (it's a big menu!). Fish is really excellent - we tried several fish dishes, from the classic potatoes / octopus combination, to some of their squid ink paella. All great. Love the wine selection also - and the place is very reasonably priced given the quality of the food on offer.
google avatar

Kenneth M.

Yelp
Without a doubt the best Spanish restaurant I've eaten in outside of Spain. Fantastically large amount of choice on the menu, friendly staff who clearly care about the food they serve and the atmosphere within which they do so and very accommodating service (we ended up cancelling our third dish as the sharing starter followed by meatballs and beetroot dishes were more than enough to fill us up). The well laid out and descriptive winelist is the final icing on the cake and I consider myself very fortunate to have been introduced to the charms of this concern.
google avatar

Lara G.

Yelp
Look no further. Must try in Galway. Hidden gem with amazing food, service and most imp., wine.
google avatar

Candace P.

Yelp
Went there for dinner on a Tuesday night. Waited at door for 10 minutes until someone finally asked us if we had reservations. We didn't and he told us we should have in a very condescending way. Didn't even offer an alternative time. We are here all week and will ensure we NEVER go back there!!
google avatar

Jamie W.

Yelp
Lovely waiter. He explained all our options thoroughly and ensured I had a gluten free menu to identify my choices. My husband and I chose 4 tapas with cider and wine. All portions were tasty and filling. I would recommend the lamb and sweet potato skewer. But all was worth a stop.
google avatar

Tim J.

Yelp
YELP walking directions were wrong but once you get to Cava Bodega your going to have a wonderful experience guaranteed. Olives great, tomato bread yummy, Spanish cheeses delicious! And, ant if the Tempranillo wines are fantastic.
google avatar

Eric C.

Yelp
We showed up for dinner, without reservations on a Sunday night and were sat immediately. The service was perfect and the food was amazing. Plenty of tapas to go around paired with an awesome tempranillo will leave you wishing you had an extra stomach to try out more of the menu. I'm convinced that everything on the menu is fantastic and original. Go. Here. Now!
google avatar

Stewart E.

Yelp
Cozy atmosphere and great service. Our server recommended ordering 4-5 tapas plates. We ordered 5 plus one half meat/cheese plate. It was a lot of food and we couldn't finish it all but it was all really good. We ordered the mushrooms, bravas potatoes, rack of lamb, pork belly, and monkfish. The pork belly was our favorite meat dish. It was delicious with the apples on top. The mushrooms were out of this world. We practically licked the plate clean. No other mushrooms will ever compare. They were fresh and cooked in a magical sauce of yumminess. The potatoes were also very tasty and addicting. We found ourselves still taking bites even though we were totally stuffed. The monkfish was our 2nd favorite meat. It had a good spice to it. The rack of lamb was good but kind of bland.

elizabeth C.

Yelp
Excellent food. Great Ambiance. Friendly Service. Would recommend Cava Bodega over almost any other restaurant in Galway. Make sure to book in advance - this place fills up fast.
google avatar

Suzanne L.

Yelp
We came here close to the time they closed (around 10) without reservations. They were super accommodating and sat us within ten minutes. We were seated by the window with an adorable setup and great view of the street. Service was fantastic and so was the good--our favorites were the tomato bread, patatas bravas and the goat cheese/sweet potato croquettes. The perfect place for a girls night out or date night!
google avatar

Mairead J.

Yelp
Been coming here since 2011 (when they were located on Dominic Street). Love their new location beside the Dail Bar where they have downstairs seating also, very ambient lighting for dinner. Bring all my friends here and make sure anyone who hasn't tried yet visits at least once. Favourites are any of the venison dishes they usually have on specials during Autumn. Sweet potato and goats cheese croquettes are always delicious. Any of their pork belly or duck dishes (the duck fritters are my new fave) Scallops with black pudding is yum. All of these dishes always accompanied by vegetables herbs and sauces that compliment each other perfectly. Menu offers wine pairings and suggestions for your choice of tapas. Love everything that Cava do, my all-time favourite out of all restaurants I've been to in the whole world!!
google avatar

Vincent T.

Yelp
Okay...so I come to Ireland from the USA for the sites and sounds of a beautiful country! I am not disappointed! I do not come for the food. But what do I find? The best Spanish tapa place I have been to in a VERY long time! Food was great, wine was great and this ugly American even got a glass full of ice just by asking once!!!!
google avatar

Yvonne D.

Yelp
Amazing! One of the best tapas restaurants I've ever been too. The lamb was simply melt in your mouth divine. Delicious wines. Knowledgable staff. Reasonably priced. What more could you ask?
google avatar

Caroline R.

Yelp
The Radisson Hotel highly recommended this restaurant since we were looking for Spanish cuisine. I was not too impressed with the menu, so just ordered a few tapas and the waiter suggested a bottle of wine that was quite lovely. I was not happy with the food, however, the bottle of wine and the service more than made up for it... Needless to say I did have to stop to eat after the night out...

Magda C.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Reservations for dinner are strongly suggested. However, we were walk-ins and they made every effort to accomodate us. It was definitely worth it! The monkfish was excellent and so was the moorish chicken. Would love to go back on a next visit to Galway!
google avatar

Jarlath C.

Yelp
This place has re-opened in new premises and I do believe the food is still as good as before. I went there with my girlfriend, sister and mother and no-one had any complaints. The patatas bravas were lovely but they're simple so they should be, the morcilla (black pudding) with apple and something that escapes me was very good, loads of flavour if a little lumpy. The pork fillet wrapped in Serrano ham and cooked with apricots is delish; nearly as nice as the slow-cooked confit of pork belly, my favourite from my last visit. Basically it was all very tasty and costed between 6 and 10 euros per dish, food for 4 with a bottle of Spanish cider (lovely!) came to just under €70. Friendly, attentive and helpful staff. When I'm in Galway again I'll go back.
