I'm taking some extra time to post this review across several platforms because our experience staying at Cavalry Court was, and I cannot stress this enough, unique and amazing.
My wife had to plan a trip to College Station and decided on Cavalry Court, though we had never stayed at the property before. But, in the early morning hours of the same day we were scheduled to arrive, she was involved in a major accident on the freeway and one of our cars was a total loss. Incredibly, she was able to walk away with only some minor injuries and an overnight observation stay in the hospital (A separate shout-out to Subaru safety engineers for that one.)
Among the many calls I had to make that morning was to Cavalry, to let them know that at a minimum, she wouldn't make it for the first day of her stay. At the time, we weren't even sure if she would make it at all. Before I called, I prepared myself for the fact that I would be paying for the first night anyway and, most likely, a cancellation fee for the whole stay.
My first contact (and therefore first impression) with anyone at the hotel was Joe at the front desk. After explaining our situation and my wife's change of schedule to him, he immediately canceled her first night's stay but still held our room and waived any late cancellation charges in the event that we didn't make it at all. He didn't have to clear it with anybody. He didn't put me on hold so he could "see what he could do" for us. He just did it. It was easier to talk to Joe and completely change our itinerary than it was to book a simple room at any other hotel. Anyone who has had to change hotel accommodations at the last minute knows how mind-numbingly aggravating that can be. It was effortless and unexpected for me, to say the least.
If that was the only thing that the staff had done for us, it would still been excellent service. But, aside from that, they added conveniences to my wife's room to make her more comfortable when she was both sore and frazzled from the accident. Someone from the staff checked on her EVERY DAY, either by phone or in the common areas, to make sure she wasn't having any problems or to see if she had any other additional needs for her stay. It was a perfect touch of going out of their way to make her stay fantastic, while still giving her privacy and being non-intrusive, that I think everyone appreciates in a hotel service.
I'm intentionally not including all the extra little additions that the hotel provided for her, specifically because we all know that there are some "sub-ethical" people that might try to take advantage of Cavalry's hospitality if I did. But without a doubt it was the best experience my wife and I have had in a hotel and we encourage you to stay with them to find out.
To Hayden, the front desk manager, Maci, the assistant front desk manager and Joe, thanks for making her stay special. Any generic company can throw a hotel together, put some nice paint on the walls, hang an expensive chandelier in the entryway then call themselves a five-star resort. But its the people operating the place that really makes the difference between a mediocre experience and a truly memorable one. You have put together an excellent team. We'll be staying with you again whenever we're in College Station and telling all our friends to find you any time they have an event in town.
