Cave Bianche Hotel (Isole Egadi, Sicily) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Hotels in caves are rare, but not unheard of; Cave Bianche, however, is the first hotel to be built on the site of a limestone quarry. Its stone structures and its minimalist-chic rooms mirror the straight lines of the quarry’s walls, while the gardens and lawns add organic warmth to the unusual site. A sizable swimming pool and a Sicilian restaurant with a terrace are the hubs of the hotel’s social life, while the island of Favignana, just off the western tip of Sicily, offers guests plenty of reasons to explore." - Tablet Hotels

A quirky hotel set in a quarry. Friendly staff who speak good English. Slight institutional vibe - lots of temporary structures and plastic seating. Large rooms, modern in style, not hugely cozy but comfortable still. Huge shower cubicles, lots of storage space and good aircon. Main thing to be aware of is that it’s 35 mins walk to town where the restaurants are. You need to hire an ebike (no pushbikes available), and they’re €15 per day. Restaurant is not recommended. I had the ‘salad of the day’ tabuleh at lunch, which seemed like packet mix, and the fritto misto, which didn’t seem to be made with fresh fish. No veggie options in the evening. Margarita pinsa at lunch was decent but there’s better to be had on the island. Overall a decent option for the price, with some areas that could improve.

A post-modern facility which deserves a visit especially for for the dinner, as the food is very good and the service warm and professional at the same time. We also stayed few nights and the quality of the breakfast was not at the same level of the dinner. Staff was again very welcoming and competent. Rooms very basic for a 4-star hotel. Reception staff prepared but lacking the same warmth and professionalism you would expect from a high category hotel and not comparable at all with the colleagues at the restaurant area.

I first stayed at Hotel Cave Bianche over a decade ago and fell in love with its unique charm and character. Returning recently, I was pleased to find that the hotel’s essential appeal remains - there’s still something magical about this place that captures the spirit of Favignana. However, time has taken its toll on the property. While the bones of the hotel are still beautiful, signs of aging are evident throughout. Most notably, the sun beds by the swimming pool look quite cheap and detract from what should be a relaxing poolside experience. Simple maintenance updates would make a world of difference. The staff experience was notably mixed during our stay. The bar and breakfast teams were genuinely lovely - warm, welcoming, and attentive to our needs. Unfortunately, the reception staff, while certainly professional and competent, lacked the warmth that would elevate the guest experience. Given the current room rates, the price-quality ratio feels unbalanced. This hotel has so much potential, and with some thoughtful attention to maintenance and staff training, it could easily return to its former glory. Improvements are becoming necessary to justify the premium pricing.

Exceptional service the pool was so relaxing perfect for families and the food, the food was out of this world. The seafood was so fresh and perfectly cooked. Basically the whole entire menu including dessert was amazing. Not only that, the staffs were so friendly and the owners of Cave Blanche were very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!

Not usually a reviewer , but I feel like I could probably help someone out of they are on the fence with the pros and cons. |Pros- The hotel is pretty stunning when you look down from above. The rooms are very clean and streamlined. The wifi was terrific for those that still have to do a little work. The pool is clean. There are scooter and bike rentals at the hotel which is useful. There is a woman named Julia who works the front desk who is an angel. She helped us plan boat tours and rentals, as well as recommendations. She really took her time with us and I truly think she made our vacation memorable. They are lucky to have her. The guy who helped us with our mopeds was also super kind and helpful. ||Cons-As far as the other staff I cant say the same. They were not very warm or welcoming. In fact they seemed annoyed that we were even there. The kitchen seemed to always be closed or only serving 1/4 of the menu. They charge you 5 euros to use the beach towels which is a first for me. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. They felt like prison cots, although I've never been to prison ha. I woke up every morning so stiff and could barely sleep. The pillows were the same. The pool closes at 7 which is a bummer if you have kids. The restaurant is subpar. Also the moped rentals are party pricey especially since you can get them in town for half the price. ||I think next time I would stay at the resort down the street that has an ocean view. It gets even hotter down in the quarry with no ocean breeze.

This is the second time we have stayed at this refuge and we hope to return again. Special thanks to Yulia who greeted us upon arrival with captivating professionalism and invaluable information. The rest of the staff were also always attentive. We had a room with a balcony, which was peaceful and quiet. A place not to be missed for anyone visiting Favignana.
