My experience at Caviar Café and Restaurant in Maafushi was, without a doubt, one of the worst I’ve had on the island. We ordered the most expensive dish on the menu, which in the photo showed generous portions: two chicken breasts, several pieces of tuna, vegetables, and a sauce to bring everything together. However, what we actually received had absolutely nothing to do with what was advertised.
To begin with, the dish arrived almost empty: just one chicken breast, two pieces of overcooked and completely dry tuna, no vegetables at all, and no trace of the sauce. When we showed the menu photo for comparison—because the difference was obvious—the staff didn’t acknowledge the issue. Their attitude came across as indifferent and dismissive, as if we were complaining for no reason.
After insisting repeatedly and nearly getting into an argument, they eventually brought us one extra piece of tuna… which was just as dry and inedible. Only after complaining again did they add two more pieces, but the quality remained terrible. Overall, it felt like they had no intention of fixing anything unless we pushed hard for it.
The food itself was very poor: dry, badly prepared, and nothing like what was promised on the menu. Between the disappointment and the tension with the staff, the entire dinner ended up being genuinely unpleasant.
The only positive point of the evening was the live musician—a guitarist and singer who performed very well and created a nice atmosphere. Honestly, he was the only redeeming part of the experience.
Apart from that, I would not recommend this restaurant at all. A huge disappointment.
