"Belize consists of a mainland area and about 450 islands, with Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker being popular for retirement. Ambergris Caye is a hot tourist destination and one of the more expensive places to live in Belize. Caye Caulker is considered a laid-back, smaller version of Ambergris Caye. The government offers various programs for acquiring residency or retirement status. The official language is English, and the currency is both U.S. and Belizean dollars." - Pat Doherty

"Caye Caulker also has dive shops available for trips to the Great Blue Hole, such as Scuba Sensation and Frenchie's Diving. Prices for diving trips are similar to those in Ambergris Caye." - Travel + Leisure Editors

"Second and third place were both seized by Belizean islands this year: Caye Caulker (No. 2) and Ambergris Caye (No. 3). The tropical havens, located on the second largest carrier reef in the world, are particularly beloved by the global diving community, but they offer a range of diversions. Of Caye Caulker, one reader said, 'We could dive right off the beach — so neat. Food and drinks were great and the people were so friendly!'" - Travel + Leisure Editors

Excellent place to relax. People are all very friendly. The weather is always good. There are lots of bars and restaurants. Easy to get around. There are no cars on the island so it is very safe to wander on foot. I would recommend a visit.

We spent a couple of hours on Caye Caulker as part of a snorkeling excursion. We had no idea what to expect and were so pleasantly surprised. There were great street food vendors cooking up fresh seafood on grills. Fun hand-made items for sale. And lots of places to hang out in the water if you want to.

Caye Caulker – A Perfect Island Escape! Caye Caulker is pure magic! The people are incredibly friendly, always greeting you with a smile and that laid-back "Go Slow" vibe that makes you feel right at home. The food? Absolutely incredible—fresh seafood, delicious Belizean flavors, and great local spots that won’t break the bank. The sunsets? Unreal. Watching the sky explode into shades of orange and pink over the Caribbean is breathtaking. Getting around is a breeze—just hop on a golf cart and cruise the sandy streets! No traffic, no stress, just island living at its finest. Plus, the prices here are amazing! Whether it’s food, drinks, or activities, you get incredible value for paradise. If you're looking for a relaxed, beautiful, and budget-friendly island getaway, Caye Caulker is the place to be!

We travelled from Cancun to Caye Caulker and it was a great experience. The ferry from either Chetumal or Belize City is the perfect transfer option. We stayed on the island for roughly 2 nights which was great. It's a super adorable place to just enojoy the weather, go for drinks at the Split, ride around the island on bikes that are available everywhere and eat delicious food.

Great place to get away from it all !!! It's third-world island life, so don't be expecting five-star amenities but rather a laid-back atmosphere with friendly people and good local food !!! There are some small hotels and lots of nice smaller vacation rentals !!! It's a 45-minute ferry ride from Belize City, or a quick flight, but I would suggest the ferry and be sure to sit up top !!! You will enjoy the island so long as you keep your expectations in check and don't mind some dirt between your toes !!!
