Caye Caulker Forest Reserve

The reviews are pretty accurate. It’s quite the adventure if you are interested in making it to see the crocodile. There are two very aggressive dogs which you can sneak past if you walk quietly. It seems the people who live just off the path seem to think it’s their land and you shouldn’t be on it. They even parked the golf buggy right by the entrance to the path so you couldn’t clearly see it. Not sure why people think they have this right. We did get to see the crocodile lurking in the water.

This was the worst. I got chased by three aggressive dogs that seemed to belong to a property next to the path, after sticking to the path itself, it was absolutely terrifying. It leads to nowhere, and such a shame as I wanted to go exploring in the nature reserve, there are planks to walk across but it's full of rubbish. I did however see an iguana which was a welcome distraction, but would definitely NOT recommend this to anyone.

Good luck. Made it to the point of the people's house with the aggressive dogs and there was no path to be found. Had to go back to Bliss Beach to get enough signal to look at Gmaps and there's no clear path in sight. Bring your strongest bug spray as there's plenty that bite hard. Looked forward to exploring it but was unsuccessful.

Neat to see this preserved. Would be nice to see this preserved properly. Poorly maintained walkways, path disappears quickly and there are some pretty nasty dogs in the yard at the last house that chased us. honestly the whole north of the island felt pretty hostile… Edited for 1 star after seeing another person had the same experience Also apparently there was an old crocodile sanctuary at the north end and there is a croc neared scarface that comes to his name being called A warning sign might be good

You can walk about one minute before the boardwalk completely disappears. It's a shame they don't maintain it at all.

Nice to see the preserved Forrest and there are some interesting little crabs and some Birds. You can walk just right thought, there are some wooden planks on the ground, so you don't up end in a puddle. There's nothing else there. Just nature. BUT! We had to leave after 10min. The Mosquito would have eaten us alive if we stayed any longer. Despite Mosquito Repellent.

We cycled there, mosquitos 🦟 immediately appeared, we left! It looked interesting though. Very disturbing to read the only other post & from what I saw it is spot on!

If I could leave 6 of out of 5 stars I would. The killer guard dog was easy to neutralize. We threw him some left over Fry Jack with extra habanero sauce and let’s just say he had a Code Brown on his paws for the duration of our hike. This serene nature preserve is better for the soul than any relaxing spa day will give you. The wooden planks provide a very interactive and volatile experience that don’t just guide you through the sanctuary—they test your faith. Complete full-leg mud exfoliation treatment was like none I’ve ever had. The trail really kept us grounded, both emotionally AND physically. When we got to the lake we enjoyed a well deserved relaxing swim. Lots of floating logs lurked around us and seemed to drift toward us in the wind.
